I’m interested in exploring CBD oil for anxiety. What do I need to know?”***\n\nChico V.\n__________\n\n![Hello1-min (17).png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Hello1_min_17_80f44e8cb3.png)\n\nThe first thing you should know is that you’re not alone. More than 40 million Americans cope with various degrees of anxiety, ranging from mild symptoms to completely debilitating ones. Taking [CBD for anxiety daily](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/why-taking-cbd-daily-can-help-reduce-your-anxiety) can go a long way to helping sufferers. The types of anxiety disorders can include panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and separation anxiety disorder. And CBD oil may have other related benefits, such as [helping with sleep](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/3-cbd-products-to-help-you-go-back-to-sleep) and increasing focus and wellbeing. CBD oil for anxiety works by interacting with the [endocannabinoid system (ECS)](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/what-is-the-endocannabinoid-system). This is a system of receptors found in most places in the body, regulating a wide variety of conditions and body processes such as pain perception and anxiety.\n\nCBD may also work well at reducing anxiety, some scientists believe, because of the way it [interacts with serotonin receptors](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/understanding-how-cbd-can-calm-your-anxiety) in the brain (low serotonin levels may be a principal cause of anxiety and depression. [CBD can serve to block the reabsorption of serotonin](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/how-do-ssris-and-other-drug-types-interact-with-cannabis) in the brain (like prescribed selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). This makes serotonin more available in the synaptic space (the space between neurons in the brain), increasing serotonin signaling and helping to alleviate anxiety and other mood disorders.\n\nPeter G.\n__________\n\n![Hello3-min (14).png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Hello3_min_14_08bc5133b9.png)\n\nYou also have a [variety of consumption methods](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/understanding-how-cbd-can-calm-your-anxiety) when it comes to taking CBD oil for anxiety. If you want immediate relief, [vaporizers](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/vaporizer/) and [sublingual](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/tincture/) options are good choices. They are rapid-onset options that start working within minutes and can stay with you for a few hours. If you want something that stays in your systems longer, then it is worth looking into [edibles](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/essentials-about-edibles-that-you-need-to-know). While they may last longer, it also takes them longer to kick in, perhaps an hour or two. While more research needs to be done on how well CBD oil reduces anxiety, there have been some promising studies to date. One done in 2011, for example, showed that CBD helped reduce anxiety in people facing one of the most dreaded activities—[public speaking](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3079847/). Not only did the participants in the simulated public speaking experiment experience significantly lowered anxiety levels, but they had also reduced cognitive impairment, discomfort in their speech, and feelings of anticipatory alertness.\n\nAs far as [CBD products to help you de-stress](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/top-3-cbd-products-to-help-you-de-stress), one good choice is [Vertly Relief Lotion](https://vertlybalm.com/product/relief-lotion/). Applied topically to sore and tense areas in the body, it's silky smooth, absorbs quickly, and its smell of citrus and lavender is subtle yet calming. It has a unique blend of 500 mg Hemp+ magnesium, which targets your aches and pains while “nourishing shea butter leaves your skin soft and supple.” Or if you want an effective vaping option, try the [Wildflower line of rechargeable vaporizers](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_MT8EuKmWq1FBFCweeUaz65vCQvMGvSsY6esIVOzyhs/edit#). The high-quality, calming CBD oil they use is supplemented with added ingredients, such as mint and rosemary oil.\n\nHeidi S.\n","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/cb333e3c28a4032a6685a3ae06679206/ee604/5cd00c7d34f3fecf2053b5cf1eaac290.png","srcSet":"/static/cb333e3c28a4032a6685a3ae06679206/69585/5cd00c7d34f3fecf2053b5cf1eaac290.png 200w,\n/static/cb333e3c28a4032a6685a3ae06679206/497c6/5cd00c7d34f3fecf2053b5cf1eaac290.png 400w,\n/static/cb333e3c28a4032a6685a3ae06679206/ee604/5cd00c7d34f3fecf2053b5cf1eaac290.png 800w,\n/static/cb333e3c28a4032a6685a3ae06679206/dc6d1/5cd00c7d34f3fecf2053b5cf1eaac290.png 837w","srcWebp":"/static/cb333e3c28a4032a6685a3ae06679206/58556/5cd00c7d34f3fecf2053b5cf1eaac290.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/cb333e3c28a4032a6685a3ae06679206/61e93/5cd00c7d34f3fecf2053b5cf1eaac290.webp 200w,\n/static/cb333e3c28a4032a6685a3ae06679206/1f5c5/5cd00c7d34f3fecf2053b5cf1eaac290.webp 400w,\n/static/cb333e3c28a4032a6685a3ae06679206/58556/5cd00c7d34f3fecf2053b5cf1eaac290.webp 800w,\n/static/cb333e3c28a4032a6685a3ae06679206/1aee8/5cd00c7d34f3fecf2053b5cf1eaac290.webp 837w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12635-markdown","title":"Best medical marijuana strains for anxiety? This can sometimes be a good thing as it can energize you to perform better in responding to short-term challenges, but it can also be harmful as stress can reach peak levels and persist long term. When anxiety becomes persistent, it becomes chronic and can have negative consequences on your health.  \n\nStress and anxiety are extremely common occurrences that nobody can escape. Whether it be work, relationships, finances, or a plethora of other life activities, anything can trigger stress. Although traditionally, many people turn to drug-based therapies to help with their anxiety-related symptoms, [cannabis can offer a safe alternative](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-for-anxiety-and-stress-disorders) for relieving both acute and chronic anxiety.  \n\nChronic anxiety occurs when a person is faced with constant challenges over a long period of time, this can stem from marriage problems, persistent poverty, and an unrelenting negative working environment. This prolonged stress and anxiety can lead to a negative impact on the digestive and immune system, muscle function, and your sleep routine and patterns.  \n\nIn April of 2018,* The Journal of Affective Disorders* published an article about the research performed by Washington State University. [According to their findings](https://medicalxpress.com/news/2018-04-scientific-guidelines-cannabis-stress-anxiety.html), cannabis products with high levels of [THC](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc/) and [CBD](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/cbd/) promoted a significant reduction in stress symptoms. Proven most effective in this study were products with a THC content of 26.5% and CBD levels above 11%. Other research found that [cannabis reduces stress, but only if used at low doses](https://today.uic.edu/low-dose-thc-can-relieve-stress-more-does-just-the-opposite) as high doses of marijuana can have the reverse effect, increasing your stress levels rather than decreasing.  \n\nJennifer B.  \n_____________\n\nThere are a number of tried and tested cannabis strains to combat stress and anxiety. It may take a bit of trial and error to find the strain that works best for you as everyone’s body take to cannabis differently. **Here are a few options to consider:**\n\n![Untitled39.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled39_eabb0737f2.png)\n\n[OG Kush]( https://www.hellomd.com/strains/og-kush): California staple OG Kush brings about a hard-hitting cerebral high and body-melting physical effects. This cannabis strain comes from Sativa or Indica plants. OG Kush is ideal for those who find themselves stressed out at the end of a long day. This strain can also be used to ease stress-induced migraines and get rid of that persistent pain. It provides an almost immediate sense of happiness and greatly improves your mood. This strain should typically be consumed at night before bedtime, as many users have said it makes them slightly sleepy.  \n\n![Untitled40.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled40_c56fdbf6e2.png)\n\n[Sour Diesel](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/sour-diesel): This Sativa hybrid has a high THC content, so, therefore, is a better fit for more experienced cannabis users or those who moderate their intake. Sour Diesel is popular for helping consumers feel alert and energetic, making it a better option for daytime use. This strain is great for users who experience acute stress with accompanying symptoms such as anxiety, pain, stress, or lack of appetite.  \n\n![Untitled38.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled38_6d0044c64f.png)\n\n[Cannatonic](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/cannatonic): Cannatonic is a high-CBD cannabis strain that’s a fan favorite amongst the medical marijuana community due to its uplifting characteristics, applicable to a wide array of symptoms. One of the easiest high CBD strains to find, Cannatonic, is a Sativa-dominant strain that consumers report leaves them feeling a warm and tingly sensation all over their body. The cannabis strain is well balanced in terms of the THC to CBD ratio and, as a result, has a calming effect that neutralizes anxiety and paranoia.  \n\nAll of these cannabis strains and more help create feelings of happiness, relaxation, and euphoria. Therefore, they serve to treat acute or chronic stress. It is important before trying cannabis for your anxiety that you consult with your medical practitioner to get advice on how best to combine cannabis with other types of stress treatments or medicines.\n\nAnne F.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/97f33/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.png","srcSet":"/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/69585/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.png 200w,\n/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/497c6/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.png 400w,\n/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/97f33/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.png 483w","srcWebp":"/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/e4e06/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/61e93/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.webp 200w,\n/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/1f5c5/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.webp 400w,\n/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/e4e06/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.webp 483w","sizes":"(max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12612-markdown","title":"What is the best way to consume marijuana to help with anxiety? In that case, [vaping CBD oil](https://hellomd.com/articles/how-to-vape-marijuana-safely) in a cartridge may be a good idea as the effects kick in almost immediately. Vaping is one of the most popular ways to consume CBD. A CBD vape pen provides fast relief from symptoms of anxiety, calming your body and mind almost instantaneously. \n\nVaping is also an excellent choice for those who’ve used cigarettes to cope with their anxiety in the past and are now looking for an alternative to smoking. Because vaping simulates smoking in many ways, it can feel comfortable for smokers who want a healthier but familiar method to combat their anxiety. [Verilife](https://www.verilife.com/ma/menu/shrewsbury-recreational) has a great selection of CBD and THC vapes on their website and in their multiple dispensaries.\n\nAnother great way to take CBD for your anxiety is through [CBD tinctures](https://hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-tinctures-what-they-are-and-why-you-want-them). If you’re looking for a straightforward and versatile way to take advantage of CBD for anxiety, a tincture is perhaps your best bet. You can consume tinctures in various ways. \n\nFor fast-acting relief, apply a few drops under your tongue. Alternatively, you can add CBD tinctures to just about any recipe to easily add CBD’s stress-relieving effects to your daily routine. [HelloMD](https://hellomd.com/) has many great [recipes]( https://hellomd.com/articles/diy-recipes-3-tasty-cbd-snacks-for-summer) to look through on their website.\n  \nYour next option would be [CBD capsules](https://hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-capsules-why-they-might-be-right-for-you); these are best to control dosing. While vaporizers are a great way to get fast-acting relief from anxious symptoms, their dosage can sometimes be hard to control. This issue is easily solved with CBD capsules. With each capsule, you’ll know precisely how much CBD you’re consuming. \n\nTaking capsules makes it very easy to determine what amount of CBD is right for you. There are various capsules on the market, each with varying amounts of CBD. A great place to start is capsules with a high CBD to THC ratio. [Verilife](https://www.verilife.com/) has an excellent option for this, [Matter capsules](https://www.verilife.com/ny/menu/verilife-amherst-ny) containing 1.7mg of THC and 25mg of CBD per capsule.\n  \n[Edibles](https://hellomd.com/articles/consuming-cannabis-edibles-to-improve-your-health) can be challenging to navigate as each person reacts differently to them. Everyone metabolizes cannabis differently, so some people may experience a relaxing, soothing effect from an edible while others experience an energizing and focusing effect. For anxiety, edibles higher in CBD content rather than THC have been said to be the best. Keep in mind that edibles can take 1-3 hours before they begin to work. \n\n\nA product that some report has a quicker result time, such as 20 minutes, is [Kiva Petra Mints](https://www.kivaconfections.com/products?brand=petra&product-type=mint). They’re highly portable, decidedly poppable, and precisely dosed cannabis mints with rich flavors ranging from spicy to sour to sweet. Each mint contains just 2.5mg of THC or less per serving, making it easy to find your optimal dose.  \n \nVictoria L.\n\n__________________________________ \n\n![Untitledval115.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval115_81561f0be5.png)\n  \nThere really isn’t a “best” way to consume cannabis for anxiety; it is highly subjective to the person consuming the marijuana and their specific needs. As aforementioned, each consumption technique has its benefits and downfalls; it’s up to you to decide which one best suits your needs. If you’re looking for rapid relief, a **CBD vape pen** will do the trick, but the effects of a vape pen won’t last very long unless you continuously rip it. If you want something more versatile, a **tincture** can be used sublingually or in any food, making it easy to consume daily; it also does not require smoking. \n\n![Untitledval110.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval110_025ea61e92.png)\n![Untitledval102.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval102_5ec448864c.png)\n\nIf you want to smoke **flower**, the [Harle-Tsu](https://hellomd.com/strains/harle-tsu) strain is a great option; with a ratio of 20:1 CBD to THC, it’s exceptionally calming without psychoactive properties. **Capsules** are another great way to consume CBD for anxiety, just take them with your daily pills and be on your way. If you’re looking for something to take where urgent relief isn’t needed, **edibles** will be your best option.\n\nAlisson M.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1.3245033112582782,"src":"/static/a419dad080665c429afb3be3e1637a03/ee604/c1f1077e8f7fbd7d0e3c9454ef303f46.png","srcSet":"/static/a419dad080665c429afb3be3e1637a03/69585/c1f1077e8f7fbd7d0e3c9454ef303f46.png 200w,\n/static/a419dad080665c429afb3be3e1637a03/497c6/c1f1077e8f7fbd7d0e3c9454ef303f46.png 400w,\n/static/a419dad080665c429afb3be3e1637a03/ee604/c1f1077e8f7fbd7d0e3c9454ef303f46.png 800w,\n/static/a419dad080665c429afb3be3e1637a03/f3583/c1f1077e8f7fbd7d0e3c9454ef303f46.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/a419dad080665c429afb3be3e1637a03/58556/c1f1077e8f7fbd7d0e3c9454ef303f46.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/a419dad080665c429afb3be3e1637a03/61e93/c1f1077e8f7fbd7d0e3c9454ef303f46.webp 200w,\n/static/a419dad080665c429afb3be3e1637a03/1f5c5/c1f1077e8f7fbd7d0e3c9454ef303f46.webp 400w,\n/static/a419dad080665c429afb3be3e1637a03/58556/c1f1077e8f7fbd7d0e3c9454ef303f46.webp 800w,\n/static/a419dad080665c429afb3be3e1637a03/99238/c1f1077e8f7fbd7d0e3c9454ef303f46.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12611-markdown","title":"How can CBD help me with my anxiety? About 40 million Americans are thought to suffer from some type of [anxiety disorder](https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/anxiety/symptoms-causes/syc-20350961); that’s a lot! And it’s completely normal to get anxious, but some people get stuck when it comes to how to deal with the issue. \n\nFor many, it can be embarrassing to seek help for anxiety, and for others, it can be hard to know where to look for help or where to start. Some people who experience anxiety have found that consuming cannabidiol, also known as **CBD**, effectively relieves anxious thoughts.\n  \n[CBD](https://hellomd.com/tag/cbd/) is a marijuana cannabinoid that doesn’t produce a head high like the other famous cannabinoid THC. But CBD has been shown to help temper anxiety.  \nFor example, in a [study done in 2011](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3079847/), a group of people suffering from social anxiety took either CBD or a placebo before a test. The subjects who consumed CBD felt less anxious, and their physiological signs of anxiety decreased compared to that of the placebo group. \n\n[CBD promotes neurogenesis](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9472392/) which can have a calming effect on people leading to a decrease in anxiety. Most people don’t understand the difference between using marijuana with THC versus only using cannabis with CBD in it. THC products can have a tendency to put people’s minds into overdrive and paranoia, depending on the person. On the other hand, CBD doesn’t make consumers feel high like THC does.\n  \nIn general terms, CBD interacts with the [endocannabinoid systems](https://hellomd.com/articles/what-is-the-endocannabinoid-system) (ECS). This is a system of receptors found in most places in the body. The RCS regulates various conditions and body processes, including anxiety. CBD also interacts with the serotonin receptors in the brain; lack of serotonin can often be the principal cause of anxiety. CBD acts similarly to prescribed SSRIs, blocking the reabsorption of serotonin in the brain. This makes serotonin more available in the synaptic space, increasing serotonin signaling, resulting in a happier and more stress-free mood.  \n\nAnother way CBD induces a calming effect on the mind and body is because it blocks an enzyme called FAAH, or fatty acid amide hydrolase, which lowers the neurotransmitter and endocannabinoid called anandamide. [Anandamide](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anandamide) is also known as the bliss molecule because it imparts feelings of pleasure to the rest of your body. So, because CBD blocks FAAH, it boosts the levels of the “bliss molecule,” which in turn lowers anxiety levels.  \n \nTaylor C.\n\n__________________________________\n\n![Untitledval113.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval113_348d315dc0.png)\n\nPrescription medication is often given to people with chronic stress or anxiety. The main issue with [SSRIs](https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/depression/in-depth/ssris/art-20044825) is that they can leave patients feeling emotionally numb and can also be highly addictive. But according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, “[CBD has shown therapeutic efficacy](https://archives.drugabuse.gov/testimonies/2015/biology-potential-therapeutic-effects-cannabidiol) in a range of animal models of anxiety and stress, reducing both behavioral and physiological measures of stress and anxiety.”\n \nResearch has also shown that regular use of cannabis isn’t associated with toxicity, so you can use CBD products as much as you please to ease your anxiety. But, before starting the use of medical cannabis, it is always important to consult your doctor to make sure it’s a safe choice for you. \n\nCBD has a leg up on SSRIs because researchers have noted that antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects of CBD work much faster than SSRIs. This is because CBD affects the serotonin in your brain at a more rapid pace than traditional SSRI medications. Additionally, CBD has been rated by the world health organization as safe, generally well-tolerated, and without the potential for abuse or dependence.\n\nGlenna R.\n\n","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/ee604/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.png","srcSet":"/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/69585/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.png 200w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/497c6/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.png 400w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/ee604/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.png 800w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/f3583/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/58556/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/61e93/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.webp 200w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/1f5c5/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.webp 400w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/58556/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.webp 800w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/99238/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12610-markdown","title":"What are some good cannabis products for daytime anxiety relief? The two main components of cannabis are **THC** and cannabidiol also known as **CBD**. THC is the component of cannabis that is most familiar to people and is responsible for marijuana’s euphoric effect. The other component, cannabidiol (CBD), is thought to relax the mind and body. CBD is the component medical marijuana practitioners suggest should be present in higher concentrations in cannabis products when used to treat anxiety.\n\nDifferent strains of cannabis will have varying effects on each user, but there are some key characteristics to look out for when choosing daytime cannabis. Understanding the differences between **Indica**, **Hybrid**, and **Sativa** can help you navigate the many different strains of cannabis and the varying effects each produces. [Indica](https://hellomd.com/tag/indica/) is traditionally recommended for nighttime use, as its sedative and sleepy effects can leave you feeling tired and ready for bed. \n\n[Sativa](https://hellomd.ca/tag/sativa) strains are far from a sedative; therefore, they are usually recommended for daytime use as Sativa is energizing and tends to have noticeable effects on mental activity. Similar to Indica, Sativa provides relief from pain and anxiety. [Hybrid](https://hellomd.com/tag/hybrid/) strains usually apply to marijuana strains that have characteristics of both Indica and Sativa. Many Hybrids have a grounding effect, neither sedative nor energetic, but instead helps maintain balanced energy. For these reasons, Hybrids are an excellent choice for either daytime or nighttime use.  \n \nJason R.\n\n__________________________________   \n \n![Untitledval111.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval111_f629baba90.png)\n\nIt can often be hard to find a strain that can help soothe anxiety and also won’t make you fall asleep. But I’ve found quite a few strains that have helped my daytime anxiety while I continue to work and be productive throughout the day. \n \n[Cannatonic](https://hellomd.ca/strains/cannatonic) is a great strain with higher levels of CBD relative to THC, which means it won’t create psychoactive effects – perfect for daytime use. This strain is best known for creating happy and uplifting feelings, making this hybrid strain best to treat anxiety and depression. [Verilife](https://www.verilife.com/) sells a great Cannatonic x ACDC full spectrum vape cartridge that works great; vaping this product will produce immediate effects.\n  \nAnother great strain I found works amazing for anxiety relief during the day is [Durban Poison](https://hellomd.com/strains/durban-poison). Durban Poison has a THC content that can get up to 24%. This is an excellent strain for those who want zen during their day but also want to stay productive. Consumers of Durban Poison typically report that the strain doesn’t make them sleepy or drowsy, perfect for everyday use. It is a potent anxiolytic and is very effective in reducing anxiety. **Tetrahydrocannabinol** or [THC](https://hellomd.com/tag/thc/) can reduce anxiety when taken in low doses. However, it can exacerbate anxiety at high doses and cause panic attacks depending on the consumer. Every person responds differently to cannabis, and what a high dose is to one person, it may not be to another.\n\nWhen taking a closer look at medical studies, it is evident that the chemical makeup of Cannabidiol is the primary cannabinoid and ingredient which [treats anxiety effectively](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4604171/). While a healthy ratio of CBD to THC can effectively treat anxiety, too much THC in an anxious person can lead to feelings of paranoia. Alternatively, CBD has the opposite effect. Studies have shown that CBD can, on its own, lower, and in certain circumstances, eliminate anxiety. \n\nScientists believe that CBD works to reduce anxiety because of how it interacts with the serotonin receptors in the brain. CBD blocks the reabsorption of serotonin in the brain, making serotonin more available in the synaptic space increasing serotonin signaling.  \n\nWith all this being said, for those looking to remedy anxiety disorders with cannabis, your treatment will rely more heavily on your dosing and less on the specifics of the strain. Using cannabis is highly individual, so it is essential to first experiment with some trial and error to discover your perfect dose.  \n \nDavid T.\n\n__________________________________ \n\n![Untitledval108.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval108_46242e6f55.png)\n \nThose looking to use medical marijuana to treat anxiety should be in the market for strains with higher levels of CBD; this can be a flower, tincture, vape pen, or edible. For those just beginning their medical cannabis journey, a CBD-dominant tincture or hybrid strain is highly recommended. Finding your proper dose can be done quickly by experimenting with ratios, starting with a very high [CBD:THC ratio](https://hellomd.com/articles/quick-guide-to-finding-your-ideal-cbd-to-thc-ratio) such as 30:1 or 10:1. Take a small dose and titrate up as necessary.\n\nWhen treating anxiety with cannabis, your best bet is a low dose of a high CBD strain or a hybrid strain with higher CBD levels. If you’re looking for immediate relief from anxiety from something like an anxiety attack, vaping CBD oil may be a good idea as the effects kick in almost automatically. However, suppose you want a cannabis product that will allow you to maintain a steady flow of relief throughout the day. In that case, ingesting CBD sublingually or orally at regular intervals may be a better option. \n\nSo, while a few puffs of a CBD vape pen may provide immediate anxiety relief, a better long-term solution would be allowing CBD to build up in your system through consistent CBD ingestion. [VerIlife]((https://www.verilife.com/what-is-marijuana/what-products-are-right-for-me).) gives a great explanation of how to find your correct dosing and correct cannabis products.\n\nOverall, when treating anxiety with cannabis, CBD is most often the better option. But, again, every person is different, and for some, THC may be more stress-relieving than CBD. If you’re just starting the use of cannabis for anxiety, it is recommended that you start with CBD over THC.\n\nAnne E.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/ee604/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.png","srcSet":"/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/69585/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.png 200w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/497c6/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.png 400w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/ee604/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.png 800w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/f3583/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/58556/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/61e93/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.webp 200w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/1f5c5/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.webp 400w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/58556/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.webp 800w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/99238/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12608-markdown","title":"What are the best cannabis strains for anxiety? These names are scattered all around the cannabis world, so chances are you’ve heard of them. With that being said, understanding the differences between the three and their strengths can sometimes be challenging. If you find yourself unsure of what these terms mean, don’t worry, you’re not alone.  \nUnderstanding the differences between **Indica**, **Hybrid**, and **Sativa** can help you navigate the many different strains of cannabis and the varying effects each produces.\n\n[Indica](https://hellomd.com/tag/indica/) is traditionally recommended for nighttime use, as its sedative and sleepy effects can leave you feeling tired and ready for bed. With that being said, some people find Indica to be relaxing during the day as well. Indica is most known for its “body high” and is typically helpful with anxiety, chronic pain, chronic tension, and sleep disorders.\n\n[Sativa](https://hellomd.ca/tag/sativa) strains are far from a sedative; therefore, they are usually recommended for daytime use as Sativa is energizing and tends to have noticeable effects on mental activity. Sativa can promote focus and creativity or sometimes leave your mind hazy depending on the strain. Like Indica, Sativa provides relief from pain and anxiety but can also be the source of anxiety for users who are extra sensitive to Sativa's effects.\n\n[Hybrid](https://hellomd.com/tag/hybrid/) strains usually apply to marijuana strains that have characteristics of both Indica and Sativa. This means that Hybrid strains can vary more dramatically because of all the possible combinations of characteristics. Many Hybrids have a grounding effect, neither sedative nor energetic, but instead helps maintain balanced energy. For these reasons, Hybrids are an excellent choice for either daytime or nighttime use. Those who use Hybrids generally prefer them for pain and anxiety relief as well as for flexibility between day and nighttime use.  \n\nJohn S.\n_____________________________________________________________\n\n![Untitledval105.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval105_a7024478dd.png)\n \nThere really isn’t one strain that is better than the other as Indica, Hybrid, and Sativa all have calming properties that can help relieve anxiety symptoms. Every user will have a different reaction to varying strains. You know your body better than anyone else and what works best to [treat your anxiety](https://adai.uw.edu/pubs/pdf/2017mjanxiety.pdf) is up to you.\n   \nChoosing the best strain for your individual anxiety needs depends on what kind of treatment you’re looking for. If you’re looking to be relaxed, a Sativa dominant strain with high levels of CBD and lower levels of THC is highly recommended. A great example is [ACDC](https://hellomd.ca/strains/acdc), which has a 20:1 CBD to THC ratio. ACDC is highly effective at reducing anxiety, with little to no psychoactivity due to its high ratio of CBD to THC. Users have reported feeling relaxed and happy when they consume this strain. You can consume ACDC through smoking flower, teas, capsules, or tinctures and this strain is common and available at most dispensaries.\n\nIf you’re looking for a hybrid strain, [Canna-Tsu](https://hellomd.com/strains/canna-tsu) is a mix of Cannatonic and Sour Tsunami and is known for its higher levels of CBD. That said, it has a 1:1 ratio of CBD and THC. Canna-Tsu is said to produce calming effects and mental clarity and has been shown to be very effective in reducing anxiety levels. An added bonus of this strain is its anti-inflammatory benefits. Canna-Tsu can be used at any time of the day as its balanced ratio won’t make you too tired or too wired.\n\nFor those who have experimented with reducing anxiety through cannabis and have found that their needs are met through Indica strains, [Haoma](https://hellomd.com/strains/haoma) is a great option. Haoma is a 70% Indica strain that has calming and stress-relieving effects. It is typically found at a 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC; this means some may experience psychoactive effects as these effects are common with Indica use. Haoma is very effective at reducing anxiety due to its high CBD levels. And depression, too, since it often goes hand in hand with anxiety.**\n\nMichael P\n\n--------------------------\nHi, It is proven that the best anxiety treatment is high CBD and low THC products. You can try CBD oil 1-3 times a day as per your needs. The best ratio CBD:THC for day use is 20:1 - 25:1 In the evening can try CBD:THC 2:1 Indica strain.\n\nkrabell14\n\n----------\n\nAnxiety and stress are major problems in our country, with more than 40 million people, or 18% of the population, reported being affected by anxiety disorders. On HelloMD we tackle this major topic in various forms, including our [YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/c/Hellomd). \n\nI’ve hosted different videos on the subject, including this one [covering the symptoms of anxiety and stress](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJUYDI82cyU) and how preliminary research shows that CBD (cannabidiol) may work to reduce and in some cases eliminate them. CBD is also non-addictive and avoids many of the side effects of traditional pharmaceuticals. Vaping and sublingual tinctures are among the methods you can use to consume CBD.\n\nBefore you start considering medical marijuana options to address [stress and anxiety](https://www.healthline.com/health/stress-and-anxiety),  \\you should first visit your own doctor and follow their recommendations. However, not all doctors are knowledgeable in the use of CBD and other cannabinoids for anxiety and stress, so it’s sometimes good to talk to a medical professional who has expertise in this area.\n\n![Screen Shot 2021-10-18 at 3.00.36 PM.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Screen_Shot_2021_10_18_at_3_00_36_PM_ce05cacd77.png)\n\nAt HelloMD, we offer online Telehealth appointments with knowledgeable, licensed practitioners who treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. If you are in a state that we currently serve, you can talk to a qualified health practitioner who can help you to understand if medical marijuana might help, and we can  also help you [get your medical card](https://hellomd.com/get-started) to buy cannabis products from legal, licensed dispensaries.\n\nOn HelloMD, we have done many informative articles on anxiety, stress, depression, and other mood disorders. For example, if you want to know more about medical marijuana and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), [this article](https://hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-for-anxiety-and-stress-disorders) looks at the history of using cannabis to treat the debilitating mood disorder, and considers what kinds of strains work for different symptoms.\n\nOr this article features HelloMD’s staff “[Top 5 Marijuana Strains for Stress Relief](https://hellomd.com/articles/hellomd-staff-picks-top-5-marijuana-strains-for-stress-relief).” These include choices such as Trainwreck, Sapphire Kush and Granddaddy Purple.\n\nWhile there is more info available on the efficacy of medical marijuana treating the symptoms of anxiety, a growing body of evidence is coming to light also supporting its use for [depression](https://www.psychiatry.org/patients-families/depression/what-is-depression). In the variety of depression articles we offer on our site there’s this one on “[How Microdosing Cannabis May Help Ease Depression](https://hellomd.com/articles/how-microdosing-cannabis-may-help-ease-depression).” \n\nThis article is aimed at people who want to experience the mood-lifting qualities of THC but are wary of its psychoactive effects. By microdosing they can receive its benefits in dealing with their depression but stay active and alert during the day.\n\nStay well.\n\nNurse Perry\n","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/jpeg;base64,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","aspectRatio":1.5037593984962405,"src":"/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/14b42/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.jpg","srcSet":"/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/f836f/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.jpg 200w,\n/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/2244e/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.jpg 400w,\n/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/14b42/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.jpg 800w,\n/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/47498/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.jpg 1200w,\n/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/0e329/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.jpg 1600w,\n/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/f2689/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.jpg 7952w","srcWebp":"/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/58556/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/61e93/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.webp 200w,\n/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/1f5c5/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.webp 400w,\n/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/58556/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.webp 800w,\n/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/99238/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.webp 1200w,\n/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/7c22d/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.webp 1600w,\n/static/4737d132064ae2795c4d92df6a96da68/1dd58/f4b1a6ef347586e3d02e08526290ac7a.webp 7952w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12463-markdown","title":"I moved from Oregon to Virginia for family reasons. In fact, restoring activity in serotonin  pathways—by increasing the serotonin available to bind a subtype of the serotonin receptor (5-HT1A) in the brain—is how SSRIs  (Selective  Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) are thought to alleviate anxiety and   depression.\n\nSimilarly, several recently published studies suggest that CBD does the same. However, it does so, not by increasing the  serotonin available to bind 5-HT1A receptors, as SSRIs do, but by  mimicking serotonin's action at the 5-HT1A receptor; or, in scientific terms: CBD is a 5-HT1A  receptor agonist. \nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16258853\nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24923339\n\nIn two 2018 studies, researchers administered  CBD to rats, which then resulted in significant  reductions in anxiety-  and depression-related behaviors. However, when  the rats were  pre-treated with an agent that blocks the 5-HT1A receptor,  CBD did not  affect their behaviors, thus indicating that CBD's interaction with the  5-HT1A receptor was the affecting mechanism. \nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30157131\nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2697769/\n\nAdditionally,  several studies suggest that CBD's interaction with the 5-HT1A receptor  is the mechanism of action responsible for  neuropathic pain relief,  and the reduction of OCD and addiction-withrawal symptoms.\n\nI hope this helps!\n\ndrkim","image":null}}]}},"pageContext":{"limit":12,"skip":0,"numPages":19,"currentPage":1,"id":4953,"name":"Anxiety","slug":"anxiety","country":"US"}},"staticQueryHashes":["3949754563","4179947113","4202924991"]}
