The virus has greatly weakened her ability to use her legs and get around, along with causing great pain. She is currently on a regimen of Remicade infusions, as well as taking Micophenilate. I am very interested in having her try a CBD tincture, as I have read that doctors are finding success using CBD to treat inflammation and nerve damage, which she has. I want to make sure that Cannabis won't negatively interact with the medications she's on. Does anyone have any experience with this? Also, it seems like a 3:1 CBD to THC ratio would be best for her condition. Does anyone have a different recommendation? Thank you so much. \"\n_____________________\nCannabis is an extremely safe herb with no toxic effects or overdose potential. It should not interfere with the the Remicade infusions. I would try very high doses of CBD (with some amount of THC), as this will provide anti-inflammatory effects. Sarcoidosis is an auto-inflammatory condition, it is not caused by a virus. Minimizing inflammation is key.\n\nandrewvanmd","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7128-markdown","title":"What is a good tincture for inflammation and back pain?","slug":"what-is-a-good-tincture-for-inflammation-and-back-pain","content":"\n_____________________\nMost tinctures work well but especially the high CBD tinctures but I personally do not like the ones with alcohol because if I choose to do alcohol it may be in a beverage occasionally, rather than in medicine. I like the tinctures in MCT oil but I do not know if there is an actual difference in the effectiveness since both seem to work well. In addition, all of us are Vitamin D deficient since we do not live naked outside and Vitamin D is made in the oil in the skin so we cannot make Vitamin D in our skin after 50 years old and you should not wash the oil off your skin. If you get darker in the sun, your skin likely blocks the production of Vitamin D and without supplement, you will likely go on to develop the diseases associated with vitamin D deficiency, depression, anxiety, hypertension, heart disease, autoimmune disease, diabetes, Weight gain, Osteoporosis, arthritis, chronic pain and even cancer.\nI also think it's a good idea to ask your local Bud Tender, what tincture did they see as their largest seller for back pain issues. They tend to know what they carry that works the best.\n\ndrolson\n_____________________\nI would reccomend a whole plant high CBD tincture. You can try various ratios of CBD and THC, depending on what best treats your pain and works for your lifestyle.\n\nandrewvanmd\n_____________________\nI agree with Dr. Vanderveer, a whole plant high CBD tincture is a good place to start..many of our members find very good inflammation and pain relief with just the high CBD tinctures. Since every one is different, if you don't get relief from just a high CBD tincture, try adding a small amount of THC tincture to the mix. Some people have found that this combination worked better for them. Tinctures provide very consistent dosing. Be willing to give yourself some time to experiment to find what works for you!!\n\nPiantaTinta","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7112-markdown","title":"I am 6 months pregnant and have a lot of lower back pain. Can I use this product?","slug":"i-am-6-months-pregnant-and-have-a-lot-of-lower-back-pain-can-i-use-this-product","content":"\n_____________________\nThere are a lot more studies coming out about cannabis and pregnancy - though not much in the terms of cannabis topicals yet. I can tell you that most topicals do not enter the bloodstream - whether there is a transference to the child in any way is unknown. This is completely a personal choice. Congratulations and I do hope you find relief for your pain.\n\njessies\n_____________________\nWith all due respect to Jessie from Strictly Topical, in a paper I've just read, there is actually potential for a sizable amount of absorption into the bloodstream. Admittedly, said paper was using a transdermal patch, but even I was surprised to find that THC levels in the bloodstream were almost half that seen in smoking! As for transference to the child, this has definitely been established; cannabinoids can cross the placenta, blood-brain barrier, and also be found in breast milk. Other literature I'm reading also states that there is an abundance of evidence prenatal exposure to cannabis adversely affects neurodevelopment with negative consequences for neuropsychiatric, behavior and executive functions. I would stay away from cannabis products, including topicals and try to use tried/ true measures like heat/ cold pack, yoga, and other methods. I hope this helps!\n\ndrpark\n_____________________\nCannabis use during pregnancy is a controversial subject. The bottom line is that cannabis is safe for both the mother and the fetus. If there are ANY negative effects, they are miniscule, especially when compared to the effects of some of the commonly prescribed prescription drugs. You may want to read about the \"Roots Daughters\" in Jamaica, who use cannabis in various forms throughout their pregnancy. Dr. Melanie Dreher has spent a great deal of time with these women and their children and has done further research into the effects of cannabis use during pregnancy. Her conclusions are that cannabis during pregnancy is safe. I also personally know many mothers who have used cannabis during pregnancy and are raising healthy, happy, well adjusted (and often above average) children.\n\nandrewvanmd","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7109-markdown","title":" I have severe lower back pain which radiates down my legs giving me muscle spasms. I have never found that you need to use too much and and yes, it should absorb quickly. I find that I will get relief within 5-10 minutes. Not everyone responds the same way however and what works for me may not be the same for you. I am going to include some links to posts we have put out recently that discusses topicals:\n\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/search/topicals/articles\n\nThere many articles in this link that you will find informative. What type of oil do you suggest and where do I buy it?\"\n_____________________\nI'm sorry to hear about your pain. I would highly recommend our True OG or Grand Daddy Purple oil, available in cartridge or in All-in-One, to alleviate your pain, reduce inflammation and help you get a restful sleep, which we all know is one of the best medicines of all! Each of these strains is an Indica, and each has a cannabinoid and terpene profile that should provide relief for your condition.\n\nkenwvapes\n_____________________\nSince you've never smoked before vaping is a good solution. For your back pain, you'll want a high-THC strain: I might try Girl Scout Cookies from Kurvana. When you vape, try a 5-second pull on your pen, then give it 20 mins to gauge the effect.\r\n\r\nYou can also try capsules (or certain brands of edibles) in order to manage your dosing. If you are going to try an edible or capsule, start with 5mg and wait 45 mins to an hour to feel the effect. \r\n\r\nBe Well!\n\nNick DeJesus\n_____________________\nI would definitely recommend vaping! Kurvana is my favorite brand and I second Niko there. G.S. Cookies is a hybrid and a good daytime/afternoon option for back pain. You may find more success with Kurvana's Banana Smoothie vaporizer, which is a 2:1 THC:CBD oil blend. I found the high very pleasant and the THC in combination with the CBD gave me more relief than just the THC alone.\r\n\r\nAlso, never discount topicals! They work wonders for my back pain! I think the direct application of cannabinoids to the muscles works much better than inhaling them. Combining both methods seems to be the most effective.\n\nryan","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7085-markdown","title":"How to help memory loss and absentmindness -- any treatments or strains?","slug":"how-to-help-memory-loss-and-absentmindness-any-treatments-or-strains","content":"\"Without a doubt, the profound memory loss and absentmindedness are the worst effects of my cannabis use. It helps me in so many ways -- but these are tough side effects for me. Are there any strains or any difference with edibles or vapors that are better in this regard. Thanks\"\n_____________________\nThe key to any medicine, food or behavior is utilizing the minimum effective dose or \"enough is as good as a feast\". I would decrease the amount of cannabis you use and only utilize it when necessary. CBD also seems to help decrease some of the \"negative\" aspects of cannabis use, and I would suggest an outdoor, organic, sun-grown variety. Also try to use a wide variety of strains and methods; inhaled, topical, tinctures, patches, suppositories. \n\nandrewvanmd\n_____________________\nI couldn't agree more; Well said, Dr. Vanderveer! I like the analogy \"enough is good as a feast;\" a lot of people imho w/ cannabis may find that a little goes a lot farther than they might think. First, a couple of questions. By nerve pain, do you mean neuropathic pain (i.e. numbness, tingling, burning, etc?) . Is this occurring in your fingertips? If this is worsening, I might recc. that you go back to neurosurgeon/ back doctor who performed your surgery. From the way things are phrased, I take it that your insomnia is related to this pain? In my humble practice experience, med cann products can be helpful for both the nerve pain and the insomnia but this is best done in the context of what we call a multi-modal/ multi-system approach. This means that physical therapy should be involved and other modalities for pain control/ analgesia (i.e.l myofascial release, heat/ cold application, topical medications both cann and prescription based, poss. TENS unit use, etc) should be used with med cann products. Feel free to come ask questions from our various MD's who are well versed in this area. I hope this helps!\n\ndrpark","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7062-markdown","title":"Will you be making an unscented extra strength jar of your topical cream?","slug":"will-you-be-making-an-unscented-extra-strength-jar-of-your-topical-cream","content":"\"I've used all three of your topicals and love the relief it has provided for my lower back pain and sciatica issues. You are not the first to ask about an unscented extra strength, so we are making note of the interest and will very likely create an unscented extra strength by the first of the New Year.
