Like most research done in the cannabis field, the effects of cannabis on sleep cycles is still in its infancy and requires more research to make some solid arguments. That being said, the studies on cannabis and sleep that were conducted in the 1970’s did show that varying levels of THC decreased the amount of REM sleep that participants experienced. We know that a lot of our dreaming is done during the REM sleep cycle, so there has been some correlation made between the use of cannabis with a decreased occurrence of dreaming. Again, we should keep in mind that the evidence is limited, and further research is required, along with a better understanding of its clinical implications. \n\nCheck out this article by one of the contributing writers at HelloMD. Dreaming also plays a role in the processing of emotional memories, and  balancing mood and learning.\n\nWhile decreasing the fraction of time spent in the  REM stage seems detrimental, for many, the absolute amount of time spent in the REM stage of sleep may increase, since the overall amount of sleep has increased. However, if you don't difficulty falling asleep, and you miss your dreams, you should abstain from cannabis for a few hours before bedtime, and/or lower the dose of THC at nighttime. \nFor more information on cannabis' effect on the sleep cycle, here is a link to an excellent article:\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/5a7b94a8f24d1300077ccb39/does-cannabis-reduce-rem-sleep-and-your-ability-to-dream\n\n\ndrkim\n_____________________\nHello and thank you for the great question, \nStudies have show that THC reduces the proportion of time spent in REM sleep, while increasing the proportion of time spent in stage 4 sleep; CBD does not seem to alter the sleep cycle. \nhttps://ascpt.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/cpt1972133426\nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5895650/\n\nStage 4 is the most restorative stage of sleep -- it is when the body repairs itself, stimulates growth and development, and boosts immune function. REM sleep plays an important role in learning and memory function, since this is when your brain consolidates and processes information from the day before so that it can be stored in your long-term memory. \n\nWhile decreasing the fraction of time spent in the  REM stage seems detrimental, for many, the absolute amount of time spent in the REM stage of sleep may increase, since the overall amount of sleep has increased. I would recommend a CBD based lotion which can help control pain and inflammation. The New York Times published an article on just this topic earlier this year:\nhttps://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/30/style/cbd-oil-beauty-cannabis-pain-relief.html\n\ndrjacquelynlew\n_____________________\nHello, \nThere are several studies which show that CBD has anti-cancer effects. \nhttps://www.projectcbd.org/cancer\nAlso, an Italian study investigated the anti-tumor activities of plant cannabinoids on breast cancer, including: CBG, CBC, CBD, CBDA and THCA. They found that CBD and CBG have the most anti-tumor activity, even moreso than THC.  \nhttps://www.alchimiaweb.com/blogfr/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/J-Pharmacol-Exp-Ther-2006-Ligresti-jpet.106.105247-Anti-tumor-activity-of-plant-cannabinoids-with-emphasis-.pdf\nHowever, I would not say that cannabis would erradicate the cancer. I recommend that you discuss this matter with your oncologist and that you should (probably) use cannabis only as an adjunct to what your oncologist prescribes. You should also consult with a physician who can help tailor a regimen according to your specific case. I wish you and your family all the best. \nHere are a few products which may be helpful: \n1. https://www.hellomd.com/products/5abbed821bb06d000861403d/calm-tablinguals (CBG)\n2. https://www.cbd.org/products/chocolates/18-1-chocolate\n3. http://kivaconfections.com/products/bars/espresso\n4. https://jettyextracts.com/collections/pax-era-pods - Cannatonic CBD\nI also recommend strains that are high in CBG, including: Magic Jordan, Destroyer, Allen Wrench and Mickey Cush (also known for its anti-nausea and appetite stimulating effects.\n\ndrkim","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11931-markdown","title":"How can I make cannabis butter to make my own edibles?","slug":"how-can-i-make-cannabis-butter-to-make-my-own-edibles","content":"\n_____________________\nHello!
