Is there a difference between hemp CBD or CBD with THC from marijuana? \"\n_____________________\nYes CBD can be extremely beneficial for people suffering from fibromyalgia. The chemical compound in CBD helps reduce inflammation, which would alleviate your muscle pain. There are several differences between CBD oil and hemp derived oil. CBD oil is extracted from the actual cannabis plant, whereas hemp derived oil is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. The seeds of a hemp plant contain very low levels of CBD when compared to a cannabis plant, which can have high levels of CBD. \nHemp derived oil is used mainly for health benefits, while CBD oil is used medicinally. Hemp seeds are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin E, and other beneficial aspects. \n\nnsavelli\n_____________________\nMr. Savelli has some very good ideas concerning CBD. Every fibromyalgia pt is different. In my experience, I usually recommend pt's try products that have both CBD & THC (especially if pt's have sleep issues as well). Mr. Savelli also mentioned omega-3's in hemp seed as well which is also a good suggestion; omega-3's from fish oil, hemp, or even flaxseed are all good choices. I would add that fibro treatment is tricky and needs to be multidisciplinary. I've had the best success when also including for the pt: 1) a daily mild exercse & stretch regimen & 2) cognitive behavioural psychotherapy (to retrain your brain to handle pain). I hope all these tips prove useful!\n\n\ndrpark","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11908-markdown","title":"How much CBD do I need to take in order to help with my chronic pain?","slug":"how-much-cbd-do-i-need-to-take-in-order-to-help-with-my-chronic-pain","content":"\"Is there a difference between different types of CBD? I am new to cannabis and have struggled with chronic pain for some time following a car accident. I do not want to take pharmaceuticals and I am not interested in THC and the high associated with it. If I take CBD, what kind do I take, how much and in what form. It seems very confusing to me. My state is not yet legal, will that complicate things?\"\n_____________________\nCBD can be great for chronic pain management, depending on what you may be dealing with, because it is used to reduce inflammation. It is also great for people that do not want the psychoactive effects you get from THC, but still want to get the medical benefits you get from the cannabis plant. \nIf you are in a state that is not legal, that can complicate things, but fortunately, hemp derived CBD oil is not regulated the same way cannabis, so hemp derived CBD is legal in most states. There are products available in many different varieties, such as gummies, vape pens, oil tinctures, gel capsules, topicals, and many other forms so you can find the product that works best for you. \n\nnsavelli\n_____________________\nCBD is a compound found in cannabis the way vitamin C is in oranges. Is the vitamin C in lemons different? Of course not. The effects of cannabis in humans result from the interplay of many compounds in the plant, of which CBD is just one. While some of the others (eg THC) have psychoactivity, CBD by itself does not. Whether taking a given amount of CBD is reliably associated with a reduction in pain as experienced by most patients is a question that has not yet been scientifically answered, although there is no shortage of answers on the internet. But at the same time it appears that CBD is not particularly toxic to humans at any dose, making it remarkably safe to give it a try. Some preparations consist of CBD extracted from cannabis by itself, others combine it in various ratios with other cannabis compounds, and some patients prefer using a cannabis strain bred specifically to express a lot of CBD relative to other compounds (eg Harlequin). It is confusing because, unlike penicillin or Prozac, there is no scientifically validated protocol for taking CBD. Many patients have reported benefit in finding a particular ratio of CBD:THC that reduces discomfort without compromising focus or intellectual function. There are certain things you will want to be aware of before buying hemp derived CBD products. The first would be to always try to find the country of origin, and the type of farm that harvested the hemp. There are many hemp products claiming to be medically beneficial, but they contain industrially grown hemp from China, or other unsafe grows.\nIn addition, you also want to look for products that are lab tested, so you can see exactly what is in the product, whether it is the CBD percentage or that it is free from pesticides. A pre-clinical study showed that both THC and CBD prevent glumamate-induced-retinal cell death. Interestingly, binding the CB1 receptor -- which is how THC causes psychoactivity -- was not involved in providing neuroprotection for retina cells. \nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1824211/\nWith this knowledge, I would most likely recommend a high CBD to THC ratio product, such as a 20:1 edible, or a high CBD strain, such as ACDC.\n\nI also recommend cannabis-derived over hemp-derived CBD.\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/answers/5b3581aaaa9aa500071089af/\n\ndrkim","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11879-markdown","title":"Can cannabis be used to lower blood pressure?
