There are many different ways that cannabis can potentially help with chronic pain. It is true that smoking flower from a pipe, a joint or any other way may be harsher on your throat than say vaping from a vape pen or a desktop vaporizer.\n\nMany people find that edibles work well for them. When you ingest cannabis this way you metabolize the THC so it takes longer to feel the effect (up to 2 hours often) but the pain relief can last as long as 4-6 hours. For this reason edibles are often most popular before bedtime.\n\nThere are also a variety of topicals you may want to try for localized pain.\n\nI think the biggest thing to know if you are just starting out, is that finding the right solution for you may take some time. You may find you prefer very THC and high CBD or you like a sativa or an indica. Take your time and go low and slow. In fact, one of our biggest fans, Dr Allen S Miller, has used many of our Indica strains to combat a vast array of chronic injuries/pain. I mention him by name because he has posted many a testimonial on our social media pages, and one of them appears on the front page of our website (wvapes.com) -- Doctors like Allen are working with other patients to assist in the transition from heavy opioid use to natural cannabis solutions. I would recommend trying a good Indica such as Granddaddy Purple or True OG, or even a classic hybrid such as Girl Scout Cookie has been very beneficial for pain for some of our staff.\n\ndrjulicrockett","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6681-markdown","title":"Stadol (butorphanol tartrate) pain Rx","slug":"stadol-butorphanol-tartrate-pain-rx","content":"\"Stadol a prescription Rx was a great migraine/pain killer. It was also described of having the effects of pot. In my pursue of pain relieve I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the makeup pf Stadol and how it would translate into CBD and THC. I have yet to find \"any\" relief for my chronic pain or migraines and getting very frustrated and spending lots of money. I have tried smoking the top 3 strains recommend with a vaporizer with ceramic, I've tried Vaping (3 different vendors), I've tried tinctures, edibles all without success. I am hoping a doctor or pharmacists might be familiar with Stadol able to point me in a direction. \"\n_____________________\nIf your chronic pain is actually migraines, you are extremely chemically sensitive and there is a whole article in this section on migraines that you should read. Migraines are inherited on an X-chromosome as an MAO-A snp. This means you must get rid of all neurological toxins from your diet. You might want to review this following information:\nPlease, consider eliminating all free glutamate's from your diet since they are neurologically toxic especially to people who have migraines or anxiety issues.\nConsider visiting www.truthinlabeling.org for more information. \nPlease view: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iL4SD5f2toQ\nI recommend that you get on the high-dose CBD, low THC in the tincture and take it regularly while eliminating neurologic toxins from your diet and environment. You are extremely allergic to cigarette smoke so be aware if you are smoking cigarettes you are causing your problems. If you're eating out a lot you are increasing your neurologic toxins. Do you want to be well or do you want to cover up the un-wellness with drugs? I certainly am not accustomed to comparing cannabis with prescription drugs. You don't have a drug deficiency in your body but you very likely do have cannabinoid deficiency and should respond extremely well to CBD.\nThe decision is yours because it is your life and your quality-of-life we're talking about. You could have your genetic chart done two know exactly how to get well but for many people that's just too much effort. If you want to get well, let's continue the dialogue.\nYou can know your genetics and set a program of wellness with Nutrigenomics. \nYou may also want to acquire Dr. Amy Yasko's book from Amazon, \"Feel Good, Nutrigenomics\" to show you why you want to pursue this route. We also have a major family history of diabetes and a family member is concerned that edibles are not the best option for me considering my family history. How can explain to her the differences between the different methods of consuming cannabis and why edibles create a longer lasting and more relaxing effect than vaping or topical products? \"\n_____________________\nCongratulations on finding a cannabis product that brings relief. Before we answer your question, we would like to make a distinction between the product that you consume and mode of administration (MOA), which is the route in which you put the cannabis in your body. \nThis distinction is important, because it is not necessarily the \"edible\" - we are assuming the edible has sugar because of the diabetes concern- but the mode of administration, oral, that causes the cannabis to be processed through your liver. \nWhen cannabis goes through your liver it is converted to the type of THC that really works on alleviating your symptoms and helping you sleep. \nSo, there are numerous, sugar free products that you can consume and most likely get the same effect. Some experimentation may be needed but start by taking the same number of milligrams of sugar-free product as you take of your potentially diabetes inducing (at least according to your concerned relative) edible. \nBTW, cannabis is very helpful for diabetes, but not the sugary kind!\n\ndneice\n_____________________\nThat's wonderful that edibles are helping you manage your pain and insomnia. Cannabis can be consumed via different methods, such as smoking, sub-lingual, topical, and via beverage or edible consumption. Smoking and sub-lingual can help you get pain relief at a faster rate of time because they enter into your blood stream quicker. The effects are shorter and you may need to medicate more often. Sub-lingual are used via tinctures and are absorbed into the blood stream by applying the tincture under the tongue or in the soft tissue in the side your mouth. Visa-vis consumption through edibles and beverages need to be digested and finally processed through the liver. The effects are longer lasting, but patient needs to be careful with dosage amounts. Some patients may experience tachycardia (fast heart pulse) with higher dosages of edibles which often can cause panic attacks. Starting with smalls dosages of edibles is a wise approach to avoid such problems. Start with a small dosage that is right for you or that is recommended by your physician and slowly increase if pain persists. Also, make sure you do not have any where to go for a long while after consuming edibles. Avoid driving and operating any type of machinery. This is another reason by starting with small dosages is a good approach when medicating with edibles.\n\npauly\n_____________________\nIt is wonderful to hear that you are getting the relief you need by consuming edibles. Edibles typically take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to have a full effect. It has to work through your digestive system, going through your stomach and then your liver. We recommend that patients enjoy Kiva as a desert so that the cannabis can process naturally with the rest of your digestive functions. Once it has been processed by your liver it turns that Delta 9thc into a delta 11 which can create a more intense and longer lasting effect.\n That is why edibles are the preferred method for ailments such as insomnia and pain relief. Smoking and vaping have a much faster onset, almost instantaneous, but the effect also wears off quicker. Some patients may find relief from smoking or vaping and then eating an edible for a more even keel effect. Once the smoke has worn off the edible is kicking in and they won't have to smoke or vape as often. Edibles do produce more of a bodily heavy effect, while vaping is more of a cerebral effect. When you combine the 2 you may get the best of both worlds. Please remember that there are many different factors to take in account. Every BODY is different, that is why we recommend 5mg as a starting dose until you know how it affects you. Also, the exact that is used can create a different effect. We use a cold water extract, which is one of the oldest. cleanest, and safest methods of extraction for the cannabis. There are no chemicals involved in the process. On a final note, I would recommend our dark chocolate line of products since they have the least amount of sugar. :)\nThank you\n\nkivaerica","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6614-markdown","title":"What type of tincture would be best for chronic nerve pain","slug":"what-type-of-tincture-would-be-best-for-chronic-nerve-pain","content":"\"Pain arose denovo - no trauma . Have you considered trying CBD rich cannabis products? KIVA offers a wonderful balance of both THC/CBD that should help with some relief from pain and inflammation.\n\nlaurenmc","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6564-markdown","title":"Best CBD for chronic pain","slug":"best-cbd-for-chronic-pain","content":"\n_____________________\nChronic pain has many causes, so the most effective treatment with cannabis can vary. \n\nIf your pain is caused by inflammation/autoimmune disorders of any kind, CBD is the cannabinoid for you. CBD seems to work best over time, so it helps to find a form of it that you can take every day. CBD oil is a very good option because it works for 8-12 hours per dose; pre-measured oil capsules are a very convenient way to go. Smoking and vaping are possible, but you may only get a few hours of relief when you inhale it. Tinctures work quickly, but they don't always have the concentration or staying power of oil. \n\nFor some types of chronic pain, such as neuropathy or nerve pain, patients often find that adding some THC into the mix is very helpful. There are several strains of cannabis that have a 3:1 or 4:1 ration of CBD to THC such as AC/DC or Harlequin; these can be very useful if you are looking for strain-specific relief. At the Capsule Cooperative we carry 1:1 ratio of THC that is very helpful for this kind of pain.\n\nBecause cannabis effects everybody differently, you may need to try a few different kinds before you find something that works for you.\n\nartemiscrow\n_____________________\nWhat are the best CBD for chronic pain, PTSD, depression meralgia paresthetica, spine problems, my nightmares and have a lot of issues with my legs and feet have problems sitting down and walking\n\nVietnam6869","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6562-markdown","title":"As a medical patient what are the best strains for treating chronic pain?","slug":"as-a-medical-patient-what-are-the-best-strains-for-treating-chronic-pain","content":"\"I am also curious about the benefits of buying flower that is considered organic. It seems counterintuitive and it seems as though that would increases the chances of having an adverse effect to something we are trying to use to improve our health. For that reason, among others, I would recommend searching for flowers that are organically grown. \n\nIn terms of specific flowers to help with chronic pain I would recommend a strain that has a good balance of THC and CBD. Some patients gain benefit from 60:1 CBD:THC while some prefer 20:1, 5:1, 1:1, and also with more THC than CBD. CBD increased our bodies natural cannabinoid levels, while THC directly stimulates receptors. These two cannabinoids, along with hundreds of other compounds, all work together to produce effects. There's actually a lot of options and choices depending on the symptoms that are most effecting you. \n\nInflammation is a huge component of CFS so we would recommend considering either CBD-rich medications and/or THCa to reduce the inflammation associated with this ailment, especially if you are trying to avoid psychoactivity. Regular (3x/day) micro dosing would be especially valuable to reduce inflammation as you'd want to keep metabolizing the medication over a longer span to see the best efficacy. \n\nIf pain is a large component for you, we'd also recommend an even balance of CBD and THC to provide some relief. If you find yourself dealing with psychological problems associated with CFS, which is common, we'd suggest again using a CBD-rich medication to help with both mental health needs as well as inflammation. \n\nWe hope this information is helpful and we are happy to follow up if you'd like further information.\n\njessicapeters","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11350-markdown","title":"What are the best marijuana strains for chronic pain?
