I am concerned that high indica THC product would make me feel more of what I already feel.\"\n_____________________\n \nHi there! \nRestoring activity in serotonin pathways—by increasing the serotonin available to bind the 5-HT1A receptor in the brain—is how SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) are thought to alleviate anxiety and depression. Similarly, several recently published studies suggest that CBD does the same. However, CBD does so, not by increasing the serotonin available to bind 5-HT1A receptors, as SSRIs do, but by mimicking serotonin's action at the 5-HT1A receptor; or, in scientific terms: CBD is a 5-HT1A receptor agonist. ++\n\nIn general, for anxiety and depression issues, patients take between 5mg to 20mg of CBD two to three times/day. However, if possible, adding a small to moderate amount of THC would be much more effective, especially during any acute increase of intense anxiety—2.5mg to 10mg of THC is what most patients find helpful, without unwanted side effects. However, patients should always \"start low, and go slow.\" So, patients should not start above 2.5mg of THC. ++ If THC is available, it can be mixed with THC at varying levels. These products are expressed in ratios. ++ Ratios: In the vast majority of cases, are expressed in Parts of CBD, to every Part of THC.\n\ndrkim\n_____________________\nSo, for example, 10:1 would indicate 10CBD:1THC; 2:1 would indicate 2CBD:1THC\nIn general, when both CBD and THC are valuable in treating the condition, it's a good idea to keep the milligrams of CBD relatively consistent, then manipulate the ratios to provide an appropriate amount of THC. Most choose between 5 to 20mg of CBD. \n\nSo, for example, if we wanted to keep the CBD dosage at 10mg, we would choose the ratio of the product that provides the amount of THC that is acceptable to the patient. Many patients want no perceptible psychoactivity during the day, while some psychoactivity during the evening is acceptable. In this situation, many would use a higher ratio during the day, such as\n10:1, which would provide 10mg of CBD and 1mg of THC. Most patients do not perceive psychoactivity when taking 1mg, or less of THC\n\nThen as a sleep aid, a more balanced ratio, such as 1:1, which would provide 10mg of CBD, and 10mg of THC. 10mg is considered a \"standard dose.\" Most new patients report 10mg of THC to be moderately to extremely psychoactive. So, when starting, it's always a good idea to start low, and go slow.   In general, 2.5mgs of THC would be a good \"test dose.\"\n\ndrkim\n_____________________\nRatios of between 10:1 and 30:1 are rarely psychoactive, so this ratio-range would be a good choice for most when psychoactivity is to be avoided, such as during the daytime, or if the patient prefers to avoid any psychoactivity. +\n\nRatios of between 4:1 and 8:1 are considered mid-range ratios. In general, products in this range would cause mild psychoactivity, noticeable anxiety relief and a boosted mood, without feeling \"high\". +\n\n2:1 and 1:1 are more balanced ratios. In general, this range provides the most pain relief and is the better choice for sleep issues. +++\n\nOils:\n1. Place the oil under your tongue.\n2. Use your tongue to gently “paint” the tincture around your inner cheeks\n3. Wait 60 to 90 seconds before swallowing.\nEffects should peak in about 15 minutes, and should last between 2 to 4 hours\n\nEDIBLES:\nWait at least 1 hour to gauge efficacy. When you are on an empty stomach, peak effect is reached in about one hour. However, if you have had a large meal, especially a fatty meal, it can take up to two hours to reach peak effect. Effects should last between 4 to 10 hours.\n\nWhen choosing products, make sure that the product label specifies the amount of CBD and/or THC per drop or dropper-full. Many products simply state the total amount of CBD and/or THC, which leads to unnecessary confusion. +++\n\ndrkim\n_____________________\nWhen looking for a quality CBD oil, pill or vape cartridge, make sure that they:\n1. Use CO2 extraction\n2. Practice \"Whole plant philosophy\", which should preserve many of the lesser known cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids found in cannabis. \n3. Use organic hemp or cannabis \n4. Clearly labeled bottle, specifying the milligrams of CBD per dose—skip it if it only indicates the total amount of CBD in the product. \nKeep in mind, that heavy use of THC will lead to the worsening of depression and anxiety. \n\nThere is no need for specialized products for senior citizens. If used judiciously, cannabis has a relatively benign side effect profile. \n\nSome quality CBD products:\nhttps://www.hellolift.com/products/5b57a71f02f1740001522f78/cbd-hemp-oil-capsules\nhttps://www.hellolift.com/products/5b57b4c702f1740001523089/cured-full-spectrum-raw-oil\nhttps://www.hellolift.com/products/5bd399485d8e87a60c6a60c3/revive-vape-pen\n\nSome products with THC to consider:\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/products/5ab445285ff2ea000b4e974d/41-soft-gel-capsules\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/products/58068e8323698800071d25a7/calm\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/products/5bb3ca617fa32847af85f528/cbd-chocolate-bar\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/products/5bb3c9cf7fa3280a9585f51a/relax-cbd\n\nI hope this helps!\n\ndrkim","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12348-markdown","title":"What is most effective product for sedation?","slug":"what-is-most-effective-product-for-sedation","content":"\"I am a 66 year old male, 170 lbs. You should try to aim for an indica strain which has a more of a sedating and relaxing effect. Sativa is more energizing and better used in the day time. You should look for a product that has a mid to high range THC (if no contraindications) and I would advise you dose in an oil form as the effect will last longer but of course the onset is much slower than inhalation. Follow sleep hygiene rules and you don't want to develop a sleep dependency issue with any sleep agents, and lastlly I would advise that you consider a referral for a sleep study from your primary care provider. \n\nAmyT","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12221-markdown","title":"Hello, will this help with relieving chronic headaches due to an automobile accident?","slug":"hello-will-this-help-with-relieving-chronic-headaches-due-to-an-automobile-accident","content":"\"I was in an auto accident about 2 years ago where I was rear-ended by a distracted driver at a stop light, and since then, I have not had a single day where I do not have a headache. Thank \"\n_____________________\nHi there! \n\nIf you felt that the Valhalla gummies were too strong for you, even if they were cut in half, you may want to consider another item that allows you to microdose and better monitor the amount of THC or CBD that you are consuming. \n\nIf you are interested in trying the Care By Design 2:1 sublingual drops, this may be a better option for you. Each drop will contain a higher amount of CBD than THC, so the psychoactive effects won't be as strong. You can also use the dropper to closely monitor the exact amount of tincture that you are consuming. Also, because it's a sublingual, it should absorb in the mouth faster than in your stomach like gummies and other edibles. With that said, please keep in mind a little self-experimentation is required to find the appropriate dose to not be too strong and still alleviate your symptoms. \n\nI hope this information helps! :-) \n\nVeronicaB\n_____________________\nHi @KC2018 - Yes! Gummies are definitely a popular product on the cannabis market! Part of the reason they are so popular is because it's an easy way to keep track of how much you are consuming. You want to make sure you are never feeling uncomfortable because it could be a sign that you have consumed too much!\n \nWe love Valhalla gummies and we know our patients do too, but I would also suggest the Plus Sour Watermelon (Sativa) gummies or the Plus Blackberry & Lemon (Indica) gummies. Each gummy contains at least 4.5mg of THC each, but they are also available in Coconut Pineapple CBD gummies with no THC. \n\nI hope you find the product that works best for you soon!\n\nVeronicaB","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12057-markdown","title":"I am 18 years of age but i am diagnosed with anxiety, depression, insomnia, and ptsd. Wondering why I experienced a high and sedation when CBD supposedly doesnt impair you in any way like THC?I felt a slight impairment of my vision and a foggy feeling in my head and felt less alert and reactive while driving from the CBD. I’ve only been taking it for a few days and have lessened the dose to like 12.5 ml twice a day and notice less impairment. Wondering if it’s my brain getting used to the CBD and if the Sedation and impairment of senses will subside so I can go up to a more therapeutic dose as I decrease my Zoloft dose slowly. \"\n_____________________\nHello,\nFirst and foremost, please discontinue taking the hemp derived CBD and consult with your primary care physician immediately. Also, if not already doing so, you should taper off of the Zoloft under the supervision of your prescribing physician -- not doing so may result in withdrawal symptoms, including: anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, depression, mood swings, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, flu-like symptoms, headache and sweating; your symptoms may be due to improper tapering.\n\nI also recommend that you dispose of that bottle of CBD oil. Although unlikely, that oil may have not been processed correctlly, which possibly may lead to higher levels of THC than allowed. \nAdditionally, because CBD, THC and Zoloft are all metabolized by the cytochrome P450 system, I recommend that you discontinue cannabis products altogether until you've completed the tapering down of Zoloft.\n\n\ndrkim\n_____________________\nHello Tcylinder,\nI do not doubt anything you're telling me. I also do not doubt the people relaying their supporting anecdotal accounts. However, the science, thus far at least, behind CBD's non-psychoactivity is clear; the reason is the CB1 receptor. THC binds the CB1 receptors in the brain with high affinity, which then leads to many of the effects of cannabis, including sedation and becoming \"high.\" However, CBD binds the CB1 receptor very weakly (low affinity). Furthermore, CBD is actually a weak inhibitor of the CB1 receptor. Therefore, I am somewhat skeptical that it's the CBD causing the mild high and sedative effects.\n\nHowever, the science behind cannabis' effects, benefits and detriments is still in its infancy -- especially so when it comes to CBD -- so it is possible that CBD is what's causing your symptoms. I still recommend that you consult your prescribing physician and that you discontinue the CBD until advised otherwise by your doctor.\nRegards,\nDr. Kim \n\ndrkim\n_____________________\n I'm curious about whether you've discussed any of this with your physician who is prescribing the Zoloft? As Dr. Kim noted, CBD may compete with Zoloft for metabolism, potentially affecting the level of both substances in your system and making assumptions about dose vs effect less reliable. There is also considerable individual variation in this area of human biochemistry. And, while CBD does not bind to CB1 receptors in the nervous system the way THC does, it does modulate the interaction of THC with those receptors, which is a basis for exploring the differences in effects of various CBD:THC ratios. I do want to mention that while some apparent medical effects have been noted at various doses of CBD there is little, if any, science demonstrating target or optimum doses associated with those effects. In other words, this is still 'folk-medicine.' So is the idea that some people may experience a 'subtle high' with CBD alone. I'm fond of saying there is wisdom in folk-medicine, it's just hard to find out which wisdom is real. Finally, I'd like to add that many patients previously on SSRIs have found cannabis useful enough for moderating mood that they are able to discontinue the SSRI entirely For those whose work situation requires avoiding any overt pschoactivity, preparations such as 20:1 CBD:THC during that part of the day may be helpful. I hope you find a regimen that suits you. \n\ndrelkind","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_9127-markdown","title":"How can I get a Cannabis card for my anxiety, ADHD, and getting no sleep?","slug":"how-can-i-get-a-cannabis-card-for-my-anxiety-adhd-and-getting-no-sleep","content":"\" \nMy name is Samantha.
