I usually recommend that new cannabis users who want to avoid mental disruption start with a 1:1 THC to CBD ratio. \n\nThe closer the CBD concentration is to THC the less likely you will experience the psychoactive effects. Once you have a sense of how the balanced products affect you, then you can venture up or down the ratio scale to manage symptoms and avoid psychoactive disruption. \n\nIf you fine that 1:1 is still to stimulating, you may want to try 2:1 or 4:1 CBD to THC.\n\ndrgerhart","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10906-markdown","title":"How much CBD is appropriate per day to combat inflammation?","slug":"how-much-cbd-is-appropriate-per-day-to-combat-inflammation","content":"\"I take CBD dominant tinctures on a daily basis and they seem to help with migraines and fibromyalgia. I am wondering what people think about the appropriate daily dosage. What is enough to have an effect when taken daily? As CBD tinctures tend to be pricey I take between 5mg-10mg daily. Is that enough to truly have an effect on body inflammation?\"\n_____________________\nThis is a billion dollar question and has yet to be answered. CBD or Cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that shows potent anti-inflammatory effects, increasing our own natural cannabinoid levels by preventing their breakdown. CBD can be found in the stems, leaves, flowers and seeds of cannabis plants, based on their genetics and growing conditions. If the patient is healthy and relatively free of disease, I would reccomend around 5-10 milligrams of CBD per day. If a patient is actively combating an inflammatory condition such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, or other ailments, I would reccomend higher doses. I would start low and slowly increase the dose.\n\nandrewvanmd\n_____________________\nI don't get a lot of migraines, and I know it might depend on the type of migraines you get, but I I really like CBDa for migraines. It's the acid form of CBD (what's on the plant when it's first picked -- many people are juicing cannabis for these acid cannabinoids). I've had a couple of migraines in the last few months and I did about 1/2 dropper of tincture under my tongue, held it there for a minute or so, then swallowed. In about a half an hour, I felt the pain lift to a manageable level. After about an hour, I took another 1/2 dropper and same thing -- I felt the pain lift and was gone altogether. You may also want to increase cannabinoid intake daily, as the body loves microdosed cannabinoids, and it could help you stave off migraines. You might also need to try a few cannabinoids and ratios to find what's best for you.\n\njaene","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10884-markdown","title":"Is fibromyalgia related to a deficiency in cannabinoids within our body. What solution is best to relive my chronic pain?  ","slug":"i-have-severe-rheumatoid-arthritis-and-fibromyalgia-what-solution-is-best-to-relive-my-chronic-pain","content":"\n_____________________\nCannabis may be useful in the treatment of both rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and fibromyalgia.  Cannabis has both immune modulating properties and anti-inflammatory properties in addition to analgesic effects. Because both RA and fibromyalgia are systemic illnesses, most patients administer either vaporized or ingested cannabis. Strains or products with a higher CBD/THC ratio have been effective in alleviating chronic pain while lessening psychoactive effects of the medicine. \n\nAlso, for musculoskeletal discomfort in general, many patients have found topical salves to be beneficial in treating localized joint or muscle pain. One benefit of this approach is that most, if not all, of the cannabis does not enter the blood stream, so their are no systemic effects; therefore, topical can be used comfortably during the day as well as the night. \n\ndredmunds","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10649-markdown","title":"Will marijuana give me panic attacks?","slug":"will-marijuana-give-me-panic-attacks","content":"\"When I was in college, I tried marijuana and went into a total panic attack, paranoid. It took hours for me to calm down. Now, years later I have a friend that uses it successfully for fibromyalgia (which I also suffer with). Does it always cause panic attacks? How could I avoid this, but get relief from the fibromyalgia?  \"\n_____________________\nEvery individual responds to cannabis in their own way. Some people are more sensitive to some of the chemical components of the plant, and do report symptoms of anxiousness with certain strain types or products. \n\nThe strain type may matter less than the content of certain cannabinoids. Higher concentrations of THC may contribute to this \"feeling of paranoia\". Increasing the amount of CBD (cannabidiol) and decreasing the amount of THC in the product helps avoid this reaction. \n\nIncreased feelings of anxiousness with one product or strain, does not mean the same reaction will occur with another type of cannabis. Some individuals report sensitivity to either Sativa or Indica strains and tend to self select away from them when they note the unpleasant sensation. \n\nI encourage you to start slow, find a good quality dispensary that focuses on medicinal products and can help you try products that fit your needs. I encourage my new cannabis patients to keep a journal of effects when they first begin to use in order to reflect on which products are the most helpful and avoiding products that do not provide relief or cause anxiety.\n\nI recommend you check out the book: Cannabis Pharmacy by Michael Backes. It is a great basic cannabis consumer guide book and may help you with you decision. \n\ndrgerhart","image":null}}]}},"pageContext":{"limit":12,"skip":36,"numPages":4,"currentPage":4,"id":5252,"name":"Fibromyalgia","slug":"fibromyalgia","country":"US"}},"staticQueryHashes":["3949754563","4179947113","4202924991"]}
