Should this matter to me as a patient treating chronic pain?\"\n_____________________\nIn my view, if we are using cannabis for medical purposes, as we all currently do in California, we shouldn't be using products that have harmful chemicals and pesticides in them. It seems counterintuitive and it seems as though that would increases the chances of having an adverse effect to something we are trying to use to improve our health. For that reason, among others, I would recommend searching for flowers that are organically grown. \n\nIn terms of specific flowers to help with chronic pain I would recommend a strain that has a good balance of THC and CBD. While there tends to be the perception that CBD has more medical benefits than THC, there is evidence to show that THC can have a significant effect on pain as well.\n\nadams","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11543-markdown","title":"What do suggest as the simplest/best way to keep flower fresh at home?","slug":"what-do-suggest-as-the-simplest-best-way-to-keep-flower-fresh-at-home","content":"\"How do you tell it is no longer fresh or effective?\"\n_____________________\nCannabis flowers are similar to any other fresh produce; sunlight, temperature, humidity and O2 degradation wreak havoc once the flowers have been harvested. \n\nTemperature tends to do the most damage, so try to keep your stored flowers in a container that never gets warmer than 80F. Many of the subtle, delicate aromas people love about fresh cannabis, are produced by a highly volatile group of essential oils called terpenes. The most volatile of these compounds are the monoterpenes, and they begin to evaporate out of flowers very rapidly once ambient temperatures have reached 80F. At PolyKulture Cannyard, we cold-cure all of our flowers at 68F-72F in order to retain as many terpenes as possible. It can be a bit overkill, but our farm has been known to keep our most treasured flowers in the refrigerator to retain every bit of freshness we can. \n\nBy keeping flowers in the fridge, while also mitigate degradation caused by UV exposure. ALWAYS keep cannabis out of the sun! it's probably fairly common sense, but if you leave a jar/bag/container of cannabis in the sun for a very short time, you will find that the combination of heat and UV has significantly degraded the flower to the point that it brown in color and not enjoyable to consume. \n\nCannabis flowers are generally brought to market at a fairly dry 10-15% moisture content, but depending on the environment they are stored in, moisture levels can fluctuate, so keeping your cannabis in a sealed container helps mitigate changes in moisture. In coastal areas consumers must be careful not to leave cannabis out and exposed to the atmosphere, because the dry cannabis will absorb moisture from the air making it damp and difficult to consume.\n\nLastly, the O2 molecules that make up a part of our atmosphere, are constantly breaking down all agricultural products. This breakdown is difficult to mitigate and can only be avoided by removing all O2 molecules and exchanging them for another type of gas, generally Nitrogen. This breakdown due to O2 exposure is the biggest contributing factor to the lack of flavor or taste in a pre-rolled joint, as opposed to a fresh roll. \n\nIn the end, if you treat your cannabis anywhere near as well as you do your vegetables, eggs and meat, your cannabis will do great!\n\nmicah","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11537-markdown","title":"Can a flower truly be organic if it's seedless? If a test reveals an abnormality we graciously return it to our partner that produced it. In terms of packaging and the website, we currently list potency results. We have been having an ongoing conversation about how we might best list or link to the complete test results online. I've used CBD capsules with some success for concentration and stress management, but are there hybrid flowers I should consider for this \"Goldilocks\" blend of prolonged calm focus, creativity and strategic thinking?\"\n_____________________\nYou're looking for quite the flower! On a certain level, every strain effects everybody differently so what works for one person may not work for another person. From a personal standpoint, I tend to prefer the 1:1 THC:CBD strains that lean a bit more towards the Sativa side of things when I am working heads down on a big, project that requires a strategic and creative focus. I might suggest that you try a few different phenotypes of In The Pines. Nothing too strong on either the head or body side of things.\n\nadams\n_____________________\nI've had good luck with Blue Dream - though I've noticed it's a bit THC heavy at times. I might recommend vaporizing some Blue Dream or a similar sativa along with taking a tincture under the tongue of 4:1 CBD:THC. Be aware that the tincture will take anywhere from 15-45 minutes to kick in, so you may need to play with the timing!\n\ndpan\n_____________________\nWe get this question frequently since a lot of people are looking for the same thing as you: a flower that alleviates  stress while at the same time boosts creativity. We've heard rave reviews from our customers that the following flowers of ours fulfill this need: Cactus Cooler, Pineapple Express, Sour Diesel, and Jack Herer. \n\ngreendoorwest","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11520-markdown","title":"What are the hallmarks of quality when purchasing flower?","slug":"what-are-the-hallmarks-of-quality-when-purchasing-flower","content":"\n_____________________\nWhat a challenging question! I'd love to write a book on this topic, but for the sake of learning, let me try to boil it down to the essentials:\n\n1. Who farmed it? - Easily the most important factor. Farmers are responsible for almost every single piece of the creation of a cannabis product and it is their values and techniques that will be most evident in the final product. \n\n2. Strain/Variety/Cultivar - What do you like, Sativa (Narrow Leaf) or Indica (Broad Leaf)? Most varieties today are a hybrid mix, but as consumers demand the more specialized varieties us farmers will adjust back to growing more pure strains.\n\n3. Trichome Content - Does it sparkle, does it look like its coated in snow? Artisan flowers are handled with care, so many of the glands on the outside of the flower should still be intact. These trichome glands are what contain the essential oils of the plant and it is these oils that provide all of the medicinal and therapeutic effects cannabis has to offer.\n\n4. Smell/Aroma ->Taste - Though these are often difficult metrics to assess while purchasing, they should be very easy to discern after purchasing. Don't be repeat customer if the smell and aroma you'd hoped for is not there. With years of practice, smell moves up this list to no.2.\n\n5. Color - You usually get what you pay for here, but desirable flower has a very vibrant, lime-green aesthetic, while less desirable cannabis has a browner less appealing look. Cannabis that has been stored properly will retain it's healthy color for much longer. Heat, UV, O2 and moisture wreak havoc on cannabis that is not properly stored.\n\n6. Moisture Level - I'm definitely partial to drier flowers, but moisture level is an important factor. A flower that is too wet can allow harmful pathogens to grow, but too dry can be devastating in transport. It's a careful balance here.\n \n7. Trim - Personally, as a farmer, I like a little extra leaf left on nice quality buds, but the market always demands a tight, close shave. \n\n8. Packaging - Not terribly important but it can effect storage.\n\n9. Testing - Testing labs in California are not to be trusted...yet. There are no end to issues with the current testing standards and services offered by CA labs, but the upcoming regulatory changes should help. Currently potency results are completely unreliable and should be ignored, but hopefully, in the future, customers can bump this up the list.\n\n10. Tell someone else how you made your decision! we need more education in the marketplace. There is a lot of misinformation being circulated out there, and it's up to us to help.\n\nmicah","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11472-markdown","title":"I'm new to cannibas? This allows the material to burn (or vape) evenly. It also makes it easier to pack into a pipe or bowl evenly, and in the case of vaping allows the air to flow evenly around it. I would determine what you are looking for in your strain. Do you want it to give you an energy boost? Do you want to relax? Do you want a psychoactive effect? \n\nOnce you have this determined, you can drill down a bit more and decide what additional effects you want in which case you can pair terpenes. For example, a strain with the terpene linalool will be more relaxing and calming than one with limonene that will be energizing.\n\nIf all else fails, smell it! If your body is drawn to it, buy it!\n\nthehighnote\n_____________________\nDifferent strains provide different effects, so step one is to figure out why you want the cannabis in the first place.
