I have experience with a few different portable dry herb units, and have found that they all have different strengths (i.e: the DaVinci Ascent is a great unit for large groups of people due to it's bowl size.) When deciding to add a Firefly 2 to my collection, what should I expect it to excel most at? Is it more of a personal use vape, a session vape, or something else entirely? Thanks!\"\n_____________________\nGreat question! My favorite use of the Firefly is to vape either by myself or with one or two other people. The Firefly excels at creating very flavorful vapor - so it's great when you are in the mindset to sit and enjoy the experience. \n\nOne bonus of the dynamic convection heating is that your material stops heating when you let go of the touch sensors. This means you can take one or two hits off the Firefly, put it down for a while, and finish your session later. \n\nWhile you can definitely use the Firefly in larger groups, I prefer to choose a few people to join me who will truly appreciate the quality of the experience. I hope this helps!\n\nRachelDugas\n_____________________\nIn my opinion, the best way to use the FF2 is to play with the FF2 :)) Since there are many ways to get its full \"guts\"! It's mainly a vape that you sip and let on the side while you appreciate the taste, amazing that is. There are still some personal tricks to find to fit your usage and your goals. You have to somehow deserve the FF2's full capacity of vapor production. But what is cool with the FF2 is that you can adapt your pace or what you're looking for: session, one-hitter...You're not trapped in an single way of vaping! \nFYI the bowl is not that big so you can't be \"over-medicated\", unless you want to!\nIt's a nice portable vape that I personally use to manage my medication: \"need more\", \"just a sip and I'll be good\" that kind of use...really that type of \"à la carte\" use.\nMy advice would be just to play around with it, you see it'll be fun and you'll be able to really find your sweet spot after a little while! What can I do with the leftover, already-vaped, brownish flower?\"\n_____________________\n\"ABV\", Already Been Vaped, is excellent for cooking. Lots of good recipes online. Search for ABV recipes. Best to extract cannabinoids from ABV. Heat coconut oil to simmer in frying pan on stove top. Add ABV, cook, but don't overheat, for one hour. Cool 20 minutes. Strain oil through cheesecloth. 20-25 grams ABV in 1/2+ cup coconut oil will make great brownies, using any package mix. Delicious. Potent. Strong body high. \r\n\n\nfrednh\n_____________________\nIf you don't want to cook with it, put it into a pipe and smoke it. There is lots of goodness left in the vaped herb.\n\nflotsam\n_____________________\nI save the \"leftovers\" and when I get enough I make an oil for my edibles. \nI use avocado or coconut oil (healthy oils). I don't measure the oil but I think it might be around 1/4 cup and place your leftovers in the frying pan and let the herb lightly sizzle until your oil is browner. \n\nI have played around with it and it really works. You can add as much oil to your edibles as you want.\n\nThis is another reason to vape, you get your money's worth.\n\njackpine\n_____________________\nEAT IT! Seriously, you can just eat it. It's actually common enough that already vaped bud has its own acronym: AVB. As long as you are not charring all of your flower, there is still some THC-A left that has been decarboxylated and is now psychoactive THC. Of course you will lose some of the terpenes and cannabinoids along the way, but by no means is this material waste. \n\nHere are a few ways you can use AVB:\n\n1. Since this flower is psychoactive you can actually ingest it like a seasoning on top of another dish. I have tried lightly vaped flower in a BLT with avocado-- a little crunchy, but otherwise delicious. \n\n2. You can also make a tincture. Soak the AVB with alcohol in a dark container (most use a clear tasteless brand like Everclear), wait a month or two and then strain it. Enjoy your tincture!\n\n3. Scoop some of it into a Gel cap and ingest it. \n\n4. Just eat it raw! Might be gross... but hey no one's judging!\n\n5. You can also play around with the temperature on your firefly to decarb your flowers for use with edibles. That way you can make a micro batch of edible weed for whatever purpose you would like. You can find all sorts of info on proper decarboxylation all over the interweb.\n\nAll of these you can look up in more detail on the almighty googlé and some recipes are improved by using fatty substances to improve bioavailability.\n\nI will also add here that it is very hard to measure the dosage and you could find yourself either overshooting or undershooting the potency you desire. I want to add a lot of caution here as edibles can make for some very uncomfortable experiences if you take too much. I won't go into much detail, but your liver processes the THC that is ingested, causing it to be a much more potent molecule. Start very slow and work your way up.\n\nryan\n_____________________\nI would suggest melting butter and adding the material creating yummy bud butter for toast or brownies!\n\nvape4fun\n_____________________\nI collect the vaped materials and let them age for a few months in a jar. This apparently produces high levels of CBD from the degraded THC, which can be revaped in the evening to help with insomnia and anxiety. Because the herbs are super dry, be sure to how the vape on a lower setting. Its also a good time to add other herbs like pepperment, lavender, lotus flowers, damiana and anything else that can successfully be vaped.\n\nkrisjah\n_____________________\nSome people take the ABV (already been vaped) and cook with it using coconut oil or infuse it with butter for cooking. I dump mine in a mason jar until ready to use.\n\ndarksm0ke\n_____________________\nPersonally, I put all of my ABV in a container and save it until I am out of fresh flower and then roll it into joints and smoke it. It actually is better than some of the fresh flowers that I have vaped.\n\nronzter66\n_____________________\nTHERE ARE SOME MANY WAYS! (Caps absolutely necessary.) My personal favorite way is through edibles. Possibilities are endless. Hummus, greek yogurt, brownies (classic), cookies, shakes, smoothies...\r\n\r\nIn my personal opinion nothing beats a Reese's peanut butter cup though, so why not mix those two ideas together. I found this step-by-step picture guide of how to make some awesome cups which might be helpful to you! http://imgur.com/a/q7ACQ\r\nI unfortunately can't claim the creation of that wonderful guide, but I can attest that it works without a hitch.\r\n\r\nTo find other good recipes you can just search the interwebs. This is just how it is but put her down take a drink of water and then pick it up again and go to town....\n\nvape4fun\n_____________________\nAt the concentrate level the FF2 is at 500 degrees F. So yeah it can get hot, and for safety reasons there is a shut off until it cools down.I put mine on a glass table or tile, and it cools down rapidly. If you have a piece of flat aluminum, that will work great too since aluminum is a great heat conductor. Concentrates really rock in this device, and you can get good reclaim off of the inside of the borosilicate lid.\n\ndarksm0ke\n_____________________\nIt really depends on how long your sessions are and especially if you're holding the button and not inhaling. In Concentrates mode the device will run 3 full 30 second back to back cycles before overheating. If the unit is rested at all during that time it will easily get more than that. Resting the unit for about 2 minutes will cool down the unit and return it to normal operating temp.\n\nMy biggest advice for you would be to make sure that any time the led is solid green make sure you are inhaling. If it's green and you're not inhaling then you're just adding a lot of heat to the unit and wasting battery so definitely be careful if you're just holding the buttons.\n\nsasha\n_____________________\nThis is normal behavior when using high and concetrate settings, and constantly heating the device. Using the lower settings with flowers with prolong the device from overheating. When over heating does occur allowing the device time to rest and cool down will allow you to continue a session.\n\ngodlike\n_____________________\nWith flowers, set the ff2 on med-high or medium to enjoy the terpenes during the first 3 or 4 sips. Then switch the ff2 to high heat, which quickly and effectively vapes the cannabinoids until the flowers are spent. You might still have to wait a few minutes in between draws at this point, but you'll better manage the ff2 heat and still enjoy all the goodness in your flowers. For concentrates, you wait a few more minutes in between draws because of the higher heat intensity. Or, make a simple heat sink at home. Wrap a chilled pack in a thick, dry towel and use it to draw off heat in between draws.\n\nrosin8","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11021-markdown","title":"What is a doctors recommendation to remedy these conditions. How old is your son? Has he been using high dose THC? Whether THC causes psychosis remains controversial. CBD is more likely safer than THC in this situation but the medicine, like Cannatonic, AC/DC, or other cannabis that is approximately 30 to 1, CBD to THC ratio are likely to be the best varieties for most people wanting an antipsychotic treatment but at night a larger dose of CBD may be indicated or a 1:1 THC:CBD tincture may be very effective for sleep. Not only do you experience a smooth hit each time, but you control your usage way better than you would with the flowers. A lot of health benefits come from vaping concentrates.\n\nrugr2000\n_____________________\nConcentrates are definitely alot stronger than flowers but inside of the Firefly 2 concentrates are amazing. First of all you are vaping at 500 degrees f which for concentrates is perfect because you can actually taste your product plus it extends the usage of your material for example I pressed out a .2 of rosin and got over 30 hits in my Firefly 2 and a dab rig can never do that for you. Firefly 2 is great with flowers but even better with concentrates. You can vape just about any concentrates whether it be wax shatter budder crumble even e liquid can be vaped as long as you use the concentrate pads they came with so the list is endless.\n\nwavyvaporizers\n_____________________\nIn my opinion, you get a much smoother pull from vaping concentrates over flower. You sacrifice some of the major flavor profiles using oil, but what you gain is consistancy, less burn, and less smell (it's much more inconspicuous). In my experience, you really can't overcook concentrates, where vaping flower can result in combustion. The biggest benefit is consistancy and uniformity when it comes to concentrates. I know exactly what one pull from a concentrate will do. With flower, you could have a section of bud that's highly concentrated and there's no real way of telling before smoking it. As mentioned by a previous poster, concentrates are also significantly more potent, resulting in fewer tokes.\n\nEdit: Forgot to add that even though the jury may still be out on this one, I personally believe that vaping in general has less health risks over combustion. As mentioned above, there's no way to combust oil, so you're probably in a safer place with concentrates than flower. \n\nCheers Mate! \n\nonlyyourdime\n_____________________\nVaping now if very common with all the new concentrates these days and smoking bud compared to concentrates is very different hi I feel. The main thing to keep in mind when using a vaporizer for concentrates is that you need to be sure your device can handle the proper temperatures necessary. The Firefly 2 can handle temperatures up to 400F, making it perfect for concentrates as well as herb. However, as opposed to just vaporizing normal cannabis, concentrates may require more cleanup afterwards.\n\nryanrosenblum","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10887-markdown","title":"I have tried this and it really works for insomnia. I actually make a number of herbal elixirs/tinctures which combine cannabis and other therapeutic herbs because, if done right, the synergy of these herbs together combine for much greater effect than if taken alone. You can check out herbabuena.com and review our elixir pages for more information.\n\nherbabuena\n_____________________\nTinctures are a very effective way to ingest medicine. The use of cannabis tincture was widespread in the 1800s and appeared in the US pharmacopeia until 1942. The absorption is rapid and begins to occur in the mucous membranes. The addition of other herbs and plants may increase the medicinal properties of the cannabis preparation. An herbalist may be the most qualified person to answer this question and I would reccomend that you direct your question to an experienced herbalist. In herbalism a \"simple\" is a preparation crafted from one plant, while combinations indicate more than one plant. Often, herbs, plants and medicines will interact to produce effects that are stronger than the sum of their parts (ie they work in synergy). I would also reccomend using your intuition and trying cannabis tinctures alone, and also in combination with other healing herbs. Take note of what works best for you, and be your own doctor!\n\nandrewvanmd\n_____________________\nThe synergistic effects or even the entourage effects become even better when cannabis is combined with other herbs and botanicals. As you may already know, many herbs and botanicals share the same common denominators of terpenes. \nTinctures are usually made with a high grade of alcohol, like grape or cane alcohol. The plant is then macerated/crushed, and immersed in the tincture for a particular length of time. During this time, the alcohol-soluble components of the plant (cannnabinoids and terpenes, and many more) are then slowly released and leached from the the plant material. People perform other processes to get the most benefits from the plant into the alcohol and that is their \"secret sauce\" in creating a wonderful tincture. \nIf you are looking to treat yourself for a particular ailment, it's best to identify what works for you. That would be hard to do if tinctures contain many herbs. It's akin to creating a marinade that has too many ingredients, and nature's magnificence is lost. Sometimes simple is the way to go. \nIf you're looking for overall vitality and no ailments, then herb combination with cannabinoids might be a solution. \nAs a scrutinizing consumer, I would wonder where the formulator got the additional herbs, if they have experience in working with and combining herbs, and why the herbs will help. I'd also look for clear and professionally documented labels. I've personally seen some products in the cannabis industry that would just say \"Women's Relief\" or something like that and not much other info. \nI always like to know the credentials of who created the products. \nGood luck. Flowers, concentrates and oils can be vaporized. For starters, it is important to think about what you are vaping. Is this a clean extract? Are these flowers free from pesticides and chemicals? Vaporizing involves heating the substance to a temperature above the melting point, yet not high enough to cause combustion. Basically when one vaporizes flower, hot air is moved across the flowers, and essential oils and compounds are melted and released into a gaseous state, which are then inhaled. Vaporizing concentrates and oils can be acheived in a number of ways. Usually a heating element or coil is utilized to heat the oil or wax or hash or shatter. Often you get what you pay for, and cheaply made vaporizers may be constructed with poor quality materials and there is some concern about metals being released from the coils. \n\nandrewvanmd\n_____________________\nThere is a very strong distinction. First off, most concentrates are going to be a stronger and more intense high. Flower vaping is very smooth and the smoke combustion is not nearly as harsh as inhaling marijuana smoke through a water pipe or a hemp paper.\r\nAny concentrate is form of extraction and is normally between 40-70% THC. Most top shelf flower is between 20-28% THC. \r\n\r\nBut ultimately, its depending how strong you would like to dose yourself with. The vape scene in the marijuana industry is quite competitive, specifically in the oil. There are solvent and non-solvent products. There are multiple types of terpenes that are added to these oil vape pens to give them all natural flavors extracted through plants. \r\n\r\nPersonally, I like Dank Tanks. They charge fast, discrete, economical, and hit strong. I can charge the charge anywhere in my car, computer, or a wall because its a USB computer charger. People juice it for the Raw or Cannabolic Acids or Carboxylated cannabinoids, all meaning, you drink them in their acid forms (THCa, CBDa, etc). There is a lot of discussion on the efficacy of the raw. For most people, it's completely inert, non-psychoactive. Personally, it gives me a big burst of \"Green\" energy. When you juice it be sure to juice the material (bud, sugar leaf, and fan leaves) no stems or stalks as it will become bitter. Juice apple or other fruits and veggies along with it. It tastes great! It's best to consume in the daytime otherwise you might be too energized from it at night. Soak the plant parts in a container of water before juicing to clean, etc, but mostly because it juices much easier with water draping it. Additionally, if you used concentrates or edibles of a specific strain the reaction may be different as well. \n\nOG Kush is a very popular strain that grows well in Southern California. It is considered a Hybrid, but its exact genetics are poorly described. Current lab profiles show a high THC content between 20-25% and a very low CBD content (less than 1%). However, it's likely best for night time or any time that you don't have much to do as many report it being a strong strain that makes them want to relax after smoking. It may also alleviate physical pain while you're falling asleep and help produce a restful slumber.\n\nandrea13\n_____________________\nMy approach to treating a condition such as yours is to separate out the acute pain your feel vs. the chronic condition (inflammation, chronic pain, and whatever direct issues triggered the surgeries). \n\nSmoking or vaping is good for immediate (acute) pain relief. The bio-availability is approx. 4-6 hours and you will hopefully feel some relief. You are getting about 3-5 mg. of THC via the mode of administration. In my experience, you also should be on a tincture ( If you are smoking a lot then make it a high CBD) or edible product as well. The bio availability is longer and can work overtime and you are also consuming other cannabinoids (Delta 11 THC and, as mentioned, CBD). The edible, because it lasts longer, will also help you sleep better, allowing you to heal (I'm assuming your sleep is also disrupted because of the pain. \n\nTopicals can also work when applied directly to the injured area and don't have a psycho active effect. \n\nAlso, remember that a number of the effects of, say, OG Kush, come from the terpenes that are present (OG Kush has a high myrcene level, for example) in the bud.
