I do not like to smoke. Do you have eatables\ncannabis candy?\n\"\n_____________________\nWe do not carry the products for sale on the HelloMD site although we carry information on existing products that dispensaries that carry products. There are many edibles available on the market today for relaxing and sleeping. My advice would be to go with a low dose edible that will not knock you out. The slogan with edibles tends to be 'low and slow' meaning you start at half the recommended dose, wait an hour or two or the night and assess how it worked for you. \n\nEdible are metabolized through your liver and can be more intense than other forms of cannabis, the effects also tend to last longer. Typically, edibles that work best for insomnia are higher in THC, this is usually a balancing act as not enough may not keep you asleep and too much could possibly keep you awake! \n\nSome edible brands that are often used for sleep are: SensiChew and Auntie Dolores. My favorite low dose edible is offered on Sava and is a brand Flora that makes a probiotic cannabis mint chocolate. You can find Sava's profile here: https://www.hellomd.com/biz/sava Their website is listed in their profile.\n\npamelahadfield","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10944-markdown","title":"I am an elderly female looking for tinctures to help me sleep. I have not used marijuana since the surgery, but did prior mostly in the evening to sleep well and to help alleviate pain in one shoulder. Is it safe to use marijuana in my present condition?\"\n_____________________\nMarijuana can increase heart rate, so it is important that you discuss any therapy you are considering with your surgeon. Most likely, you will at least need to be able to ascend one flight of stairs without difficulty before taking any substance that may increase heart rate. Furthermore, smoked marijuana may damage blood vessels and increase blood pressure. Smoking of any substance should absolutely be avoided.\n\ndredmunds","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10904-markdown","title":"With so many choices, what would you recommend for insomnia?","slug":"with-so-many-choices-what-would-you-recommend-for-insomnia","content":"\n_____________________\nIt really depends first on how you like to consume your cannabis? Do you like to smoke, vaporize take edibles or tinctures?\n\nOnce you have that decided, you should choose a pure indica variety, of a strength appropriate to your experience and tolerance. Go for an indica not a sativa as that is what will make you sleep.\n\nThere are lots of choices in indica tinctures, some of them formulated specifically for sleeping. I like the Alta California Botanicals - they have one called called Insomnia:\n\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/marijuana-tinctures/insomnia-relief-tincture\n\nThe other thing to consider is that if you smoke, the effect is going to come on immediately, but then will likely wear off within 4 hours or so, at which time you may wake up. If your problem is staying asleep more than falling asleep, you might wan to try and edible as the body metabolizes this over a longer period, and so you might find you stay asleep longer.\n\nTry a low does indica, about two hours before bed. Start with 10mg and work you way up from there.\n\nHope this helps.\n\nmark","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10887-markdown","title":"I have tried this and it really works for insomnia. Is there a concern for the other meds?\"\n_____________________\nWhat we know from research is that Prozac is no better than a placebo but it costs more and has side effects but a placebo has no side effects. If you go off the Prozac you can stop it immediately but hold onto extraProzac because in about 4 to 5 days your body may scream for the medicine and you can give it one or two Prozac and then discontinue it again. In about a week your body will want more Prozac, this time you give it one and maybe one the next day and discontinue the medicine. Going back and forth like this you should be able to go off the Prozac very easily, quickly and successfully. You should be taking CBD cannabis the whole time you were going off the Prozac because the CBD should be much more effective in resolving depression unless the depression is due to a genetic problem or a dietary deficiency. The Trazodone is a much bigger problem but for that you definitely want to have a good Indica and probably a vape pen of Indica by the bed in case you awaken in the middle of tonight. Do not do Sativa in the later afternoon or your Indica will just keep bumping your THC backed up and stimulating your brain making it impossible to sleep.\nHappy dreams.\n\ndrolson","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10877-markdown","title":"Smoking marijuana helps with my anxiety but I can only smoke indica. I am thinking of adding either one of these for general increase in mood and quieting the mind. Any thoughts would be appreciated\"\n_____________________\nFor general mood elevation the terpene profile is often more important that the strain. You'll want to look into strains that have a high percentage of limonene - so I'd be on the lookout for strains that have that wonderful citrus or pineapple aroma. Jack Herer, Lemon OG and Pineapple Nectar would all be great genetics to look for. We've also found that a sativa dominant strain with a higher percentage of CBD works great for aiding in mood, anxiety and depression. We get incredible feedback from Cannatonic which has 11% THC and 11% CBD. \n\nI also can't stress enough how important it is to know how your medicine is grown. We carry only sungrown strains that are cultivated using organic methods free from chemical fertilizers and pesticides (which can wreak havoc on your body's immune and hormone response).\n\nherbabuena","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10874-markdown","title":"Edibles I have just purchased \"hit\" as soon they are bitten into.","slug":"edibles-i-have-just-purchased-hit-as-soon-they-are-bitten-into","content":"\"I thought edibles took a while to digest and then aided in insomnia relief after vapor and sublinguals. Any suggestions?\"\n_____________________\nBy 'hit' I assume you mean that you felt the high very quickly. \n\nWhen you smoke or vape THC is absorbed into the system fast and you feel the effects very quickly, within a minute or two usually. With a typical edible, this is not the case as you are swallowing and the THC is is absorbed by the liver and undergoes a transformation which turn into 11-hydroxy-THC which makes it more powerful and the effect lasts longer. This can take up to 1-2 hours (or more depending on size, weight and metabolism). \n\nTinctures, which contain a liquid form of cannabis extract and activate THC through a gentle heat process. Most tinctures will take effect in as little as 15 minutes and are absorbed under the tongue.\n\nIt is possible you consumed a raw edible with highly potent cannabis infused oil, which could potentially, if held within the mouth, could hit more quickly. Also, a lozenge or a sucker when kept within the mouth would be absorbed under the tongue and also felt more quickly. Unless you smoke or vape however, it is hard to have an immediate effect. \n\nI'd love to hear other people's input on this.\n\npamelahadfield\n_____________________\nThe first cranial nerve is the olfactory nerve, which transmits information of smells directly to many parts of the brain and central nervous system. Essential oils and smells can bring about rapid alterations in mood and memories, solely through the stimulation of the olfactory nerve. It is likely that you are experiencing the smells associated with this cannabis prepartion, and your anticipation of the effects of the edible are causing a change in your consciousness. You may also be experiencing absorption of cannabinoids through your mucous membranes, but this will take several minutes to reach your central nervous system. Edibles are absorbed in the digestive system and often take several hours for the full effects to be fully appreciated. Take caution with edibles and start with a low dose and increase slowly!\n\nandrewvanmd","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10873-markdown","title":"What's a good strain to help with SSRI discontinuation symptoms (insomnia)? ","slug":"whats-a-good-strain-to-help-with-ssri-discontinuation-symptoms-insomnia","content":"\n_____________________\nThere are many fantastic high-potency strains that you could most definitely benefit from. I am so glad that this question came across my screen today, especially since I have some knowledge of Serotonin.\n\nSerotonin is such an extreme tranquilizer/mood-stanbilizer that going through withdrawls is a REAL issue. Serotonin hits you hard and holds you under for hours up hours. Recovering from that rollercoaster, especially if you have been on cycles for quite some time, can be very difficult.\n\nIt will be extremely important to consult you physician to blueprint your exit strategy from the pills. This would also be a great time to consult your doctor about the cannabis regime that you plan on using to help combat the effects of the previous medication.\n\nI would recommend a strong Indica Dominant/Hybrid straing. Perhaps something like Skywalker OG or OG Kush. These flowers pack a punch that could help to balance out the nasty effects that you would be feeling from coming off of the pills. \n\nIt also may not be the worst idea to mix some good cbd dosages in there as well. The aches and pains that come from withdraws can take a toll on you. This can help to alleviate the pain even more. \n\nAs with most things that are natural and individualized, start slowly. It is a predominately Sativa strain, and therefore affects your mind without the physical drag. It is very popular as a creativity booster or a good strain to use when you want to focus on a task or go out and explore the world with a little boost. \n\nPeople report it helping with depression, lethargy, anxiety, and busy mind.
