In general, absorption of cannabinoids in the blood stream is much faster for an inhalation product than consuming my mouth/ PO. The lungs are richly fed w/ blood through the pulmonary circulation; absorption by mouth requires waiting till the item reaches the stomach and intestine. In general, it only takes minutes for pts to feel an effect from cannabis after inhalation; for edibles this can vary from 30- 90+ minutes (also depending on how much food was in the stomach). In addition, many pt's have told me that ingestion often brings about a more tactile experience but this is only one observation. Most health professionals in the cannabis field would agree that the observed effects for edibles/ PO last longer (up to 6-8 hrs) vs 1-2 hrs via the inhalation route. However, these are purely based on pooled observational data & other clinicians probably can add to the list of observed differences between cannabis inhaled vs. PO/ by mouth. ; more long term studies are required. My L5/S1 disc space is severely narrowed as well. Want to find out what is causing the pain. One Dr working diagnosis is sacroilliitis. I had 2 injections into the L5/S1 joint (nerve root block did nothing, facet joint injection helped. Then I had an S/I joint injection - numbing agent helped for one day. Pain is now localized over S/I joint and psoas/illiacus and down front of the leg. I am trying yoga, and had been taking up to 1200 mg ibuprofen. My yoga instructor suggested CBD and I was told to do 20/1 day and 8/1 night. I am getting no pain relief so far, and only minimal muscle relaxation. CBD is a wonderful choice for theraputic relief of many medical issues, including pain. I do suggest adding some THC to the CBD given the extent of your injuries and your reported symptoms. Work with your dispensary to find a ratio of CBD: THC that meets your treatment goals. Many patients have concerns that the THC will make them feel strange but your pharmacist can work with you to find a dosage that can balance the neurological effects of the THC (if any) with therapeutic pain relief. Many patients will use a low THC: high CBD product during the day and a high THC:low CBD product in the evenings and/or during sleep. There isn't a cookie cutter approach to management of pain so what works for one person may not work for another. I suggest keeping a log of all products and dosages you attempt for accurate tracking of what works and what doesn't. Take this log with you to the dispensary for an imformative discussion with your pharmacist. \n\nBest of luck! \n\njennifernp","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_9666-markdown","title":"I just bought two products for the first time and had a bad reaction. I urge you not to give up because you will find the right fit for yourself. It just might take some trail and errors to find the right product for your relief. \n\nI personally do not know anything about \"rx oil caps\" and I don't know much about the sprays. However, for joint pain such as arthritis I would recommended doing a topical - putting it straight on where it hurts (Sweet Relief: https://getsweetreleaf.com) \n\nAlso, CBD tinctures or vapepens could be very helpful in body pains. This company makes a pen strictly for \"relief\" (http://hmbldt.com/pen-relief/) or a Kurvana cartridge \"Sunset tea\" - http://kurebotanicals.com/product/sunt/\n\nI hope you found this helpful and find some relief soon! \n- Nurit\n\nnurit","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_9616-markdown","title":"What works for post-surgical pain?","slug":"what-works-for-post-surgical-pain-1","content":"\"Joint surgery with bone pins. The only issue will be that any type of use except for topicals may show up in your urine if they test for THC. Depending on how frequently you would use it, and then stop, it can take up to 30 days for the THC to be undetected in your urine. If you use a patch that has plastic on the outside, the absorption can also become systemic and THC can still show up in your urine due to to the backing forcing all of the cannabis ointment into your system. \nA topical that is just rubbed onto the skin without any covering should not be systemically absorbed in quantities enough to appear in your urine.\n\nPerry Solomon, MD","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7507-markdown","title":"I have the beginnings of spinal stenosis and arthritis in my hip joint. I read on this site that someone used it two to three times per day but it doesn't say how many hits the person took on the vape pen, although I am assuming one or two. Please advise.\"\n_____________________\nThe reason you do not read about dosage is that dosage is incredibly individual with cannabis. The term 'low and slow' is used a lot and that means take some and wait and see how you feel and then possibly take more. The problem is is that my tolerance may or may not be anything like yours. \n\nWith ACDC there is no THC and if there is it is neglible. You won't get high, you may however get very very relaxed. I have a very low tolerance for cannabis and with my ACDC vape pen I have gone at it until I felt pain relief. Again, this is subjective as what gives me pain relief may not give you pain relief.\n\nACDC is a high CBD strain. My experience with CBD is that it takes awhile to build up in the system. I might suggest that you try a high CBD tincture and use that on a daily basis and try a vape pen that is CBD but with a small ratio of THC for ongoing pain. You can read this article to see what my experience has been.\n\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/micro-dosing-cannabis-stopped-my-chronic-pain\n\nI am not a doctor. If a strain is 15% CBD and the joint is 1/4 gram, then 150 x .25 = 37.5mg CBDA x 0.8 = about 30mg CBD. Then you may absorb anywhere from 2-56% of that amount. If more flower is used, or the concentration is higher or lower, the amount will be different. I would not depend on accurate dosing by rolling joints. Tinctures and tablets are more accurate when it comes to dosing. \n\ndrfrye","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7041-markdown","title":"Can anyone recommend some good recipes or advice for cannabis juicing?","slug":"can-anyone-recommend-some-good-recipes-or-advice-for-cannabis-juicing","content":"\"I've heard that juicing fresh plants is very good for people who have joint issues and I would like to try this.
