He is exhausted and can't sleep. He lives in NY, but can't even muster the strength to see a physician regarding the use of Medical Marijuana. Are there products I can send him (CBD)? Which ones are recommended for his situation? Is there a patient advocate that could help him navigate the system and get some kind of physician's council and perhaps a medical marijuana card? I live in GA and cannot help him myself with the process.\n\n\"\n_____________________\nHello,\nThis is my personal opinion: I believe that THC should not be feared by cancer patients. I firmly believe that cannabis is one of the most valuable medicines in this setting. \nCBD on its own will do very little to help your brother get a good night's sleep; most of the mood-boosting properties of cannabis come from THC; THC is responsible for nausea relief and appetite stimulation; and most studies regarding cannabis' tumor-fighting properties center around THC. This is not to say that CBD has no role in the fight against cancer; there are several studies which suggest it has anti-tumor properties; and the combination of CBD and THC is superior to THC on its own in many respects, including offsetting side effects from THC. However, symptoms, treatment side effects, and effects on the psyche are alleviated primarily by THC. \n\nVery high CBD strains and products with higher concentrations of CBD vs THC, such as 20CBD:1THC, will lessen, or even eliminate psychoactive effects. However, standard strains and products with similar levels of CBD and THC, such as 1CBD:1THC, would be more effective at treating pain, nausea, anorexia, insomnia and depression.\n\ndrkim\n_____________________\nI recommend formulations offered by Care By Design. I like that they use the whole plant when making their products, rather than isolating only THC and CBD; offer a variety of ratios; offer all routes of administration, other than combustion; clearly label their products in mgs of THC and CBD per dose; and are relatively easy to find. \nhttps://www.hellomd.com/products?brandRef=brand%3A585b1fa58b61a100115fa333\nhttps://www.cbd.org/products\nhttps://www.cbd.org/find\n\nIf you want pure CBD that can be legally mailed, I recommend Elixinol hemp CBD products. They use organic hemp, CO2 extraction and have a \"whole-plant philosophy\". \nhttps://www.hellomd.com/products/5b57a95202f1740001522f9f/cbd-hemp-oil-drops\n\nI recommend that your brother set up an appointment with HelloMD New York. Your brother would then gain legal access to medical marijuana, and not just hemp-derived CBD. I wish your brother and your family the best of luck.\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/new-york\n\nBest regards,\nDr. Kim \n\n\ndrkim","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12231-markdown","title":" I have been taking Percocet 5/325 for degenerative disc disease In my neck for ","slug":"i-have-been-taking-percocet-5-325-for-degenerative-disc-disease-in-my-neck-for","content":"\"for 2 years ,4-6 a day , I would like to take CBD oil instead and wondering how to transition over to it like can I take both of them at the same time, what percentage ratio of CBD oil should I be taking those kind of things, please help\"\n_____________________\n \nThere are no approved conversion ratios for analgesic, narcotics, opioid or opiates to medical cannabis. However, with Medical cannabis treatment, it is strongly recommended to start low and go slow with the dose. Please do not self-medicate with cannabis for any medical condition without proper consultation and prescription from an authorized health care provider. I am new to cannabis and have struggled with chronic pain for some time following a car accident. I do not want to take pharmaceuticals and I am not interested in THC and the high associated with it. If I take CBD, what kind do I take, how much and in what form. It seems very confusing to me. My state is not yet legal, will that complicate things?\"\n_____________________\nCBD can be great for chronic pain management, depending on what you may be dealing with, because it is used to reduce inflammation. It is also great for people that do not want the psychoactive effects you get from THC, but still want to get the medical benefits you get from the cannabis plant. \nIf you are in a state that is not legal, that can complicate things, but fortunately, hemp derived CBD oil is not regulated the same way cannabis, so hemp derived CBD is legal in most states. There are products available in many different varieties, such as gummies, vape pens, oil tinctures, gel capsules, topicals, and many other forms so you can find the product that works best for you. \n\nnsavelli\n_____________________\nCBD is a compound found in cannabis the way vitamin C is in oranges. Is the vitamin C in lemons different? Of course not. The effects of cannabis in humans result from the interplay of many compounds in the plant, of which CBD is just one. While some of the others (eg THC) have psychoactivity, CBD by itself does not. Whether taking a given amount of CBD is reliably associated with a reduction in pain as experienced by most patients is a question that has not yet been scientifically answered, although there is no shortage of answers on the internet. But at the same time it appears that CBD is not particularly toxic to humans at any dose, making it remarkably safe to give it a try. Some preparations consist of CBD extracted from cannabis by itself, others combine it in various ratios with other cannabis compounds, and some patients prefer using a cannabis strain bred specifically to express a lot of CBD relative to other compounds (eg Harlequin). It is confusing because, unlike penicillin or Prozac, there is no scientifically validated protocol for taking CBD. Many patients have reported benefit in finding a particular ratio of CBD:THC that reduces discomfort without compromising focus or intellectual function. There is no substitute for cautious experimentation, and you might begin by reading this short article to get some background information: (https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/cannabis-101-your-quick-guide-to-medical-marijuana). \n\ndrelkind","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11851-markdown","title":"what kind of cannabis would I use to help my liver?","slug":"what-kind-of-cannabis-would-i-use-to-help-my-liver","content":"\n_____________________\nHello,\nThere are multiple pre-clinical studies which suggest that cannabis may play a prominent role in promoting liver health. Nevertheless, cannabis has been reported as helpful for patients experiencing diabetes complications like peripheral neuropathy, and may have some other specific benefits for patients with diabetes. I've had very good results using CBD. The dose is variable depending on the individual unrelated to their size. CBD has been shown to modulate our opioid and other pain receptors to reduce pain directly and make other pain medications more effective as much as 75%. For arthritis 60mg of CBD have been available for most patients in controlling arthritis of all types. Similarly, neuropathy has improved and in some cases of diabetic neuropathy there has been a return of feeling. In diabetes a decrease in BS of 30 points is not unusual but more importantly perhaps is the protection CBD offers against eye, kidney and nerve damage so common in diabetes. Drastic restriction of carbohydrates in the diet will control most cases of T2DM and reverse in some.\n\ndrblair\n_____________________\nCannabidiol is only one molecule out of over 420 cannabinoids found within cannabis. Focusing on just the one molecule for all of these ailments may not be as beneficial as using whole plant, raw cannabis. CBD is popular because it is non-psychoactive. The same goes for acidic cannabinoids found in whole plant cannabis. \r\n\r\nEva makes a great line of products called the \"better supplements\" that would be suitable for your pain, diabetes, and arthritis. \r\n\r\nBetterRelief contains non-psychoactive whole plant cannabis, turmeric, and ginger.
