Is cannabis addictive?***\n\nSheldon P.\n____________\n\n![Hello2-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Hello2_min_61990e2fc5.png)\n\nThe simple answer is that many people and organizations say that about 9% of the population will be 'addicted' to cannabis. \n\nThe longer more nuanced answer is that most institutions and doctors will not say it is 'addictive' rather that people may have a '**cannabis use disorder**'. The question really lies in what addiction is. Many people will say addiction is a chemical dependence in which cannabis is not addictive. Other people and organizations will say it is rather a psychological manifestation, such as an addiction to gambling. It is important to note that if a person starts using before the age of 18 they are 4-7 times as likely to develop a dependence.\n\nCannabis use disorders are tested using a standardized list of 11 criteria. It is subjective to say who has a disorder or not. Some might say if you have 2 from the list, others say you must have all 11. The **11 indicators are**:\n\nThis list was taken from [Medscape's article](http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/286661-clinical) \n\n- 1.) Cannabis is often taken in larger amounts or over a longer period than was intended.\n- 2.) There is a persistent desire or unsuccessful efforts to cut down or control cannabis use.\n- 3.) A great deal of time is spent in activities necessary to obtain cannabis, use cannabis, or recover from its effects.\n- 4.) Craving, or a strong desire or urge to use cannabis.\n- 5.) Recurrent cannabis use results in a failure to fulfill major role obligations at work, school, or home.\n- 6.) Continued cannabis use despite having persistent or recurrent social or interpersonal problems caused or exacerbated by the effects of cannabis.\n- 7.) Important social, occupational, or recreational activities are given up or reduced because of cannabis use.\n- 8.) Recurrent cannabis use in situations in which it is physically hazardous.\n- 9.) Cannabis use is continued despite knowledge of having a persistent or recurrent physical or psychological problem that is likely to have been caused or exacerbated by cannabis.\n- 10.) Tolerance, is defined by either a (1) need for markedly increased cannabis to achieve intoxication or desired effect or (2) markedly diminished effect with continued use of the same amount of the substance.\n- 11.) Withdrawal, as manifested by either (1) the characteristic withdrawal syndrome for cannabis or (2) cannabis is taken to relieve or avoid withdrawal symptoms\n\nCannabis is used medically by many people as well as recreationally without dependence but there will always be a subset of the population that develops a 'cannabis disorder'.\n\nHope this helps!\n\nPamela H.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/4525e88873e3da202babfb688dec737f/c6f65/aa823ed37a253a4c83bd835bfa7596a4.png","srcSet":"/static/4525e88873e3da202babfb688dec737f/69585/aa823ed37a253a4c83bd835bfa7596a4.png 200w,\n/static/4525e88873e3da202babfb688dec737f/497c6/aa823ed37a253a4c83bd835bfa7596a4.png 400w,\n/static/4525e88873e3da202babfb688dec737f/c6f65/aa823ed37a253a4c83bd835bfa7596a4.png 443w","srcWebp":"/static/4525e88873e3da202babfb688dec737f/752e5/aa823ed37a253a4c83bd835bfa7596a4.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/4525e88873e3da202babfb688dec737f/61e93/aa823ed37a253a4c83bd835bfa7596a4.webp 200w,\n/static/4525e88873e3da202babfb688dec737f/1f5c5/aa823ed37a253a4c83bd835bfa7596a4.webp 400w,\n/static/4525e88873e3da202babfb688dec737f/752e5/aa823ed37a253a4c83bd835bfa7596a4.webp 443w","sizes":"(max-width: 443px) 100vw, 443px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12635-markdown","title":"Best medical marijuana strains for anxiety? This can sometimes be a good thing as it can energize you to perform better in responding to short-term challenges, but it can also be harmful as stress can reach peak levels and persist long term. When anxiety becomes persistent, it becomes chronic and can have negative consequences on your health.  \n\nStress and anxiety are extremely common occurrences that nobody can escape. Whether it be work, relationships, finances, or a plethora of other life activities, anything can trigger stress. Although traditionally, many people turn to drug-based therapies to help with their anxiety-related symptoms, [cannabis can offer a safe alternative](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-for-anxiety-and-stress-disorders) for relieving both acute and chronic anxiety.  \n\nChronic anxiety occurs when a person is faced with constant challenges over a long period of time, this can stem from marriage problems, persistent poverty, and an unrelenting negative working environment. This prolonged stress and anxiety can lead to a negative impact on the digestive and immune system, muscle function, and your sleep routine and patterns.  \n\nIn April of 2018,* The Journal of Affective Disorders* published an article about the research performed by Washington State University. [According to their findings](https://medicalxpress.com/news/2018-04-scientific-guidelines-cannabis-stress-anxiety.html), cannabis products with high levels of [THC](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc/) and [CBD](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/cbd/) promoted a significant reduction in stress symptoms. Proven most effective in this study were products with a THC content of 26.5% and CBD levels above 11%. Other research found that [cannabis reduces stress, but only if used at low doses](https://today.uic.edu/low-dose-thc-can-relieve-stress-more-does-just-the-opposite) as high doses of marijuana can have the reverse effect, increasing your stress levels rather than decreasing.  \n\nJennifer B.  \n_____________\n\nThere are a number of tried and tested cannabis strains to combat stress and anxiety. It may take a bit of trial and error to find the strain that works best for you as everyone’s body take to cannabis differently. **Here are a few options to consider:**\n\n![Untitled39.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled39_eabb0737f2.png)\n\n[OG Kush]( https://www.hellomd.com/strains/og-kush): California staple OG Kush brings about a hard-hitting cerebral high and body-melting physical effects. This cannabis strain comes from Sativa or Indica plants. OG Kush is ideal for those who find themselves stressed out at the end of a long day. This strain can also be used to ease stress-induced migraines and get rid of that persistent pain. It provides an almost immediate sense of happiness and greatly improves your mood. This strain should typically be consumed at night before bedtime, as many users have said it makes them slightly sleepy.  \n\n![Untitled40.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled40_c56fdbf6e2.png)\n\n[Sour Diesel](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/sour-diesel): This Sativa hybrid has a high THC content, so, therefore, is a better fit for more experienced cannabis users or those who moderate their intake. Sour Diesel is popular for helping consumers feel alert and energetic, making it a better option for daytime use. This strain is great for users who experience acute stress with accompanying symptoms such as anxiety, pain, stress, or lack of appetite.  \n\n![Untitled38.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled38_6d0044c64f.png)\n\n[Cannatonic](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/cannatonic): Cannatonic is a high-CBD cannabis strain that’s a fan favorite amongst the medical marijuana community due to its uplifting characteristics, applicable to a wide array of symptoms. One of the easiest high CBD strains to find, Cannatonic, is a Sativa-dominant strain that consumers report leaves them feeling a warm and tingly sensation all over their body. The cannabis strain is well balanced in terms of the THC to CBD ratio and, as a result, has a calming effect that neutralizes anxiety and paranoia.  \n\nAll of these cannabis strains and more help create feelings of happiness, relaxation, and euphoria. Therefore, they serve to treat acute or chronic stress. It is important before trying cannabis for your anxiety that you consult with your medical practitioner to get advice on how best to combine cannabis with other types of stress treatments or medicines.\n\nAnne F.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/97f33/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.png","srcSet":"/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/69585/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.png 200w,\n/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/497c6/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.png 400w,\n/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/97f33/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.png 483w","srcWebp":"/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/e4e06/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/61e93/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.webp 200w,\n/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/1f5c5/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.webp 400w,\n/static/395990b0286d4f6870a68f09aec4f8fe/e4e06/78d54a168084615df65c06cefdaeae87.webp 483w","sizes":"(max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12638-markdown","title":"Best medical marijuana strains for chronic pain? I want to try cannabis for my pain, what are some good strains to try?”***\n\nBella K \n_______________ \n\nWhen figuring out which strain is the best option for soothing your pain, it’s important to consider what time of the day you’re planning on using the cannabis product, what kind of pain you’re experiencing, and the level of psychoactivity you’re comfortable experiencing. Patients who use cannabis for their chronic pain often choose different strains based on the time on the time of day they plan on taking it. During the day, it is best to use a low [THC](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc) and high [CBD](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/cbd) variety whereas, in the evening, a higher THC strain can aid in pain relief.  \n\nIt is also important to consider different administration methods when thinking about using cannabis for pain management. For example, [vaporizing your marijuana](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-vaporization-a-better-delivery-method) will allow for quicker pain relief whereas [oils](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cbd-oil-breaking-the-stereotypes-of-cannabis) may process slightly slower but maintain pan relief for longer. Like using any other cannabis product, it is important to consider that each patient is different, and choosing the right strain for pain relief will take trial and error, what works for someone else, may not work for you. Here are some great strains to try for chronic pain relief.  \n\n![Untitled39-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled39_min_d2e21a2545.png)\n\n[OG Kush](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/og-kush) gives a hard-hitting cerebral high with body-melting physical effects. This is often due to underlying medical conditions such as migraines, fibromyalgia, inflammation, or spinal injuries. With chronic pain comes the use of opioids, which can be addictive and extremely dangerous. In recent years there have been numerous clinical trials that prove marijuana reduces the intensity of chronic pain. In a study conducted by Dr. Kevin Hill from Harvard Medical School, six trials suggested that [medical marijuana was an effective pain reliever](https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/article-abstract/2338266) in patients suffering from chronic pain, neuropathic pain, and multiple sclerosis.  \n\nGenerally, cannabis strains with a high percentage of CBD and THC are most effective at pain relief. Ace of Spades is a great strain to try as it's used for a wide range of medical symptoms including fibromyalgia and other chronic pain. Rich in CBN this strain will also give you a good night's sleep. It is an Indica-dominant cross between Black Cherry Soda and Jack the Ripper. Consumers can expect a deep, full-body relaxation followed by sedation thanks to the CBN.\n\nAlex M.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/ff804dc7d035fef07ce4beca8f03f4b7/3dd72/62e3e345308369fd2baf409f25857c79.png","srcSet":"/static/ff804dc7d035fef07ce4beca8f03f4b7/69585/62e3e345308369fd2baf409f25857c79.png 200w,\n/static/ff804dc7d035fef07ce4beca8f03f4b7/497c6/62e3e345308369fd2baf409f25857c79.png 400w,\n/static/ff804dc7d035fef07ce4beca8f03f4b7/3dd72/62e3e345308369fd2baf409f25857c79.png 474w","srcWebp":"/static/ff804dc7d035fef07ce4beca8f03f4b7/1e319/62e3e345308369fd2baf409f25857c79.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/ff804dc7d035fef07ce4beca8f03f4b7/61e93/62e3e345308369fd2baf409f25857c79.webp 200w,\n/static/ff804dc7d035fef07ce4beca8f03f4b7/1f5c5/62e3e345308369fd2baf409f25857c79.webp 400w,\n/static/ff804dc7d035fef07ce4beca8f03f4b7/1e319/62e3e345308369fd2baf409f25857c79.webp 474w","sizes":"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12637-markdown","title":"Best medical marijuana strains for sleep? The causes of insomnia can be rooted in a variety of different psychiatric or medical conditions, unhealthy sleep habits or other biological factors. Sleeping problems can also be the result of engaging in late-night activities that cause spikes in adrenaline such as exercising, drinking coffee late in the late afternoon, watching TV, or eating in bed. It’s estimated that one in three people suffer from sleeping problems so you’re not alone.  \n\nIf you’re suffering from sleeping issues due to pain, depression, stress or anxiety, marijuana can help. A 1973 study published in *Human Pharmacology* found that subjects had a [significant decrease in the amount of time it took them to fall asleep](https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF00437513#%20page-1) when given [THC](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc/). Some strains of marijuana are better for easing insomnia caused by chronic pain whereas others are better at targeting anxiety-induced sleeping problems.  \n\nRegular use of a high [CBD](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/cbd/) cannabis product, or at least including some CBD to balance out the psychoactive effects of [THC](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc/), will be more helpful in bringing an end to sleepless nights. Cannabinol, also known as [CBN](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/cbn/), is a lesser-known cannabinoid but is five times more sedating than THC.  \n\nDue to the fact that everyone has a unique biochemistry and [endocannabinoid system](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/what-is-the-endocannabinoid-system), cannabis will work differently from person to person. This means, like any other cannabis product, you’ll need to experiment with a few strains to see what works best for you in terms of which strains will put you to sleep. It is important to consider the correct balance between the levels of [THC and CBD](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/accurate-dosing-with-cbd-and-thc), keeping in mind many strains have almost no CBD.  \n\nCameron S.  \n______________\n \nWhen it comes to using cannabis for sleep, the method of administration and ingestion is an important factor to consider. Edibles will take effect on your body much slower since they first need to be digested and then processed through the liver. This makes them effective at helping people stay asleep. In contrast, if you choose to vaporize or smoke cannabis, it will produce faster effects that can help you fall asleep more quickly. Here are some great strains to try out to help you get better sleep.  \n\n![Untitled48-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled48_min_f6755d5c3a.png)\n\n[Harlequin](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/harlequin/) has a CBD to THC ratio that’s typically 5:2, it is enjoyed by both medical and recreational cannabis uses. It is a Sativa-dominant hybrid derived from cannabis landrace strains from Colombia, Thailand, Switzerland, and Nepal. The strain is best known for its ability to relieve pain, stress, anxiety, and depression. Harlequin is calming and helps people fall and stay asleep. It is particularly good for people who have anxiety-driven insomnia as it has little to no psychoactive.  \n\n![Untitled49-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled49_min_997bc2ee2f.png)\n\n[Girl Scout Cookies](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/girl-scout-cookies/) is an Indica strain with 20% THC and 2% CBD. This strain is typically used to help with depression, it’s known for sedating, full-body relaxation effects, making it a good choice for those suffering from insomnia. Girl Scout Cookies is very potent so consumers are advised to take it slow as it can produce psychoactive effects if overconsumed.  \n\n![Untitled50-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled50_min_6c8ed31750.png)\n\n[Afghani CBD](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/afghani) is a landrace cannabis strain, a classic Indica when you’re looking to wind down at the end of the day. It’s a high CBD strain that’s known to be relaxing and therapeutic. This strain is also great for relieving chronic pain and reducing muscle spasms. Because Afghani CBD has high levels of CBD, it produces a nice calming effect that can help consumers fall asleep. \n\nGlenn T.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/a5bdc20cb9ce906c1dad20f1b242dc3f/97f33/bd80a2a59096a6b2e4e12b978ceafa88.png","srcSet":"/static/a5bdc20cb9ce906c1dad20f1b242dc3f/69585/bd80a2a59096a6b2e4e12b978ceafa88.png 200w,\n/static/a5bdc20cb9ce906c1dad20f1b242dc3f/497c6/bd80a2a59096a6b2e4e12b978ceafa88.png 400w,\n/static/a5bdc20cb9ce906c1dad20f1b242dc3f/97f33/bd80a2a59096a6b2e4e12b978ceafa88.png 483w","srcWebp":"/static/a5bdc20cb9ce906c1dad20f1b242dc3f/e4e06/bd80a2a59096a6b2e4e12b978ceafa88.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/a5bdc20cb9ce906c1dad20f1b242dc3f/61e93/bd80a2a59096a6b2e4e12b978ceafa88.webp 200w,\n/static/a5bdc20cb9ce906c1dad20f1b242dc3f/1f5c5/bd80a2a59096a6b2e4e12b978ceafa88.webp 400w,\n/static/a5bdc20cb9ce906c1dad20f1b242dc3f/e4e06/bd80a2a59096a6b2e4e12b978ceafa88.webp 483w","sizes":"(max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12636-markdown","title":"Best medical marijuana strains for energy? Shooting back a cup of coffee, or three can only go so far in helping you wake up and face your day. Plus, the energizing properties of coffee only last so long and can leave you feeling worse or create an energy slump later in your day.  \n\nContrary to many opinions about cannabis, it can actually be a very healthy alternative to combat low energy and general feelings of fatigue. The right marijuana strain can help you be more focused and productive throughout the day. With that being said, knowing the proper strain for daytime energy and motivation is key.  \n\nSo, how do we know that cannabis can energize you? Well, this has a lot to do with the [CB1 and CBD2 cannabinoid receptors](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/beyond-the-cb1-and-cb2-cannabis-receptors-trpv1-and-gpr55) in your brain. These receptors are responsible for regulating the body's serotonin and dopamine levels. Overall, they help with your body functioning and health \n\nMadeline P.  \n______________\n\nCannabis Sativa strains trigger the release of serotonin when consumed. It’s possible you’ve heard that serotonin is related to wakefulness, that’s part of the reason why Sativa strains can help your body stay energized, focused, and awake. If you’re looking for a strain of cannabis to replace your cup of coffee or maybe you need something a little extra to focus and motivation, here are a few recommendations.  \n\n![Untitled43-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled43_min_8b01abacc8.png)\n\nOne of the strongest cannabis strains on the market is [Ghost Train Haze](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/ghost-train-haze) This strain is for the advanced cannabis consumer, the general rule here is take it easy; with the right dosing, however, consumes will find a pleasant euphoric high that’s fit for accomplishing tasks and socializing. But take too much and Ghost Train Haze can leave you feeling foggy, anxious, and paranoid. With this strain, it’s best to start with a small dose and see how it affects you.  \n\n![Untitled44-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled44_min_cb2207c8f7.png)\n\nIf you’re looking to experience a unique flavor profile while feeling revived, [Chocolope](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/chocolope) is a strain you may want to try. The product of two distinctly Sativa parents, Chocolope is an uplifting marijuana strain that can help you tackle your to-do list. This strain has a citrusy and fruity aroma that’s sweet to the taste but depending on the batch you could also experience coffee, cocoa, and melon undertones on the exhale. Medical cannabis patients thoroughly enjoy this strain because it allows for medication without sedation due to its energizing effects. Many consider this strain to go great with coffee and get you going for a long day of work or even a day at the gym.  \n\n![Untitled45-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled45_min_5417140861.png)\n\nIf you’re worried about the paranoia that can come with smoking cannabis, [Durban Poison](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/durban-poison) may be a great option. It’s an all-Sativa strain so expect a clear-head and a focused high. Often described as the “espresso of cannabis strains” Durban Poison can help soothe social anxieties while keeping you energized. The uplifting cerebral characteristics of Durban Poison can help those with ADD or ADHD, and its energizing properties can give a boost to those with chronic fatigue syndromes. Like any other strain, be sure not to overdo it as this strain can overpower you.  \n\nWhile it’s typical for cannabis consumers to use the plant to wind down and relax, certain marijuana strains can significantly boost energy and productivity. While your daily coffee may be a popular stimulant, cannabis can be just as, if not more, effective. When ingesting marijuana to fight fatigue, there are a few methods that can be effective. Smoking or vaping are the best choices if you’re looking to feel the immediate effects of the cannabis. What are the laws for medical marijuana in Ohio?\"***\n\nGrant H.\n_______\n\n![Untitled22-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled22_min_448d3bfc4e.png)\n\nIt's understandable if you feel on the fence about medical marijuana in Ohio. There is a lot to know. **Marijuana is legal for medical use** currently in the state. However, there is pressure to add adult-use cannabis because of the high demand. For right now, if you want to use cannabis to help with your Chron's disease, you will need to have a medical marijuana card to purchase cannabis in [the state](https://www.mpp.org/states/ohio/). \n\nLaws were passed for Ohioans in 2016 to establish a medical marijuana program. As of 2021, the program benefits around 100,00 registered patients throughout the state. However, while accessibility to cannabis is an excellent direction for Ohio, consumers must still understand that cannabis is not entirely legal in the state, and there are still consequences for disobeying laws.\n\nRachel M.\n_______\n\n![Untitled23-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled23_min_af66a47b45.png)\n\nCurrently, you can only purchase medical cannabis in Ohio. This means that you cannot simply walk into a dispensary and purchase marijuana. You need to be a medical marijuana patient with a valid [medical card](https://www.hellomd.com/get-started/ohio). \n\nAs of 2022, the [qualifying conditions](https://med.ohio.gov/Medical-Marijuana-Resources) to register for a medical marijuana card in Ohio are:\n\n- AIDS/HIV positive\n- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis\n- Alzheimer's disease\n- Arthritis\n- Cachexia\n- Cancer\n- Chronic traumatic encephalopathy\n- Chronic migraines\n- Complex region pain syndrome\n- Crohn's disease\n- Epilepsy or another seizure disorder\n- Fibromyalgia\n- Glaucoma\n- Hepatitis C\n- Huntington's disease\n- Inflammatory bowel disease\n- Multiple sclerosis\n- Pain that is either chronic and severe or intractable\n- Parkinson's disease\n- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)\n- Sickle cell anemia\n- Spasticity\n- Spinal cord disease or injury\n- Terminal illness\n- Tourette syndrome\n- Traumatic brain injury\n- Ulcerative colitis\n\nSince Chron's disease is on the list, you will most likely qualify for a medical marijuana card. The first step needed to get your medical card is to make an appointment with a certified doctor to recommend medical marijuana. \n\nAt [HelloMD](https://www.hellomd.com/get-started/ohio/), you can schedule a consultation online with a telehealth practitioner and have the entire appointment virtually. Their doctors are professional and make the whole process fast and straightforward. If you prefer, you can make an in-person appointment with any doctor who is holding an active [Certificate to Recommend Marijuana (CTR)](https://med.ohio.gov/Publications/CTR-Search). \n\nJackson K.\n_______\n\n![Untitled25-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled25_min_8a04934868.png)\n\nIt's important to know that [smoking flower](https://www.hellomd.com/questions-and-answers/can-you-purchase-medical-marijuana-flower-in-ohio) is **not an approved method** of delivery in Ohio, per [HB 523](https://www.mpp.org/states/ohio/ohio-medical-marijuana-law-summary/). According to the law, \"Only the following forms of medical marijuana may be dispensed under this chapter: **oils**, **tinctures**, **plant material**, **patches**.\" **Vaping is allowed**. Even qualifying patients cannot grow cannabis in Ohio — [consumers must purchase](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/how-to-get-a-medical-marijuana-card-in-ohio) all products through a legal dispensary.\n\nRegistered [medical marijuana patients](https://www.hellomd.com/questions-and-answers/what-are-the-qualifying-conditions-for-medical-marijuana-card-in-ohio-2022) are projected against arrest, prosecution, and discrimination in child custody matters. Registration status alone is not reason enough to be used as a basis for a DUI investigation. Further, patients cannot be discriminated against when seeking organ transplants or housing. Legal protections do not take effect until the patient has been issued a medical cannabis card.\n\nOhio has around [58 dispensaries](https://medicalmarijuana.ohio.gov/Documents/Dispensaries/List%20of%20Ohio%20Medical%20Marijuana%20Dispensaries%20with%20Certificates%20of%20Operation.pdf) and it shouldn't be challenging to find one near you. Menus are typically listed online, so you can check out what products are available before you go. In addition, you might be able to order online for pickup. [Bloom Medicinals](https://bloomohio.com/columbus-medical-marijuana-dispensary) is a dispensary with very knowledgeable staff that are happy to answer your questions and recommend products.\n\nIn the Dayton area, [Pure Ohio Wellness](https://www.pureohiowellness.com/rd/) is a great place to shop. When choosing a dispensary, you [want to consider](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/choosing-a-cannabis-dispensary-or-delivery-service) which ones have an **appealing atmosphere**, **knowledgeable staff**, and a **wide variety of quality cannabis products**. Some offer discounts and loyalty rewards to help you save money and keep you coming back. I live in Cincinnati and shop at [Sunnyside](https://www.sunnyside.shop/). They always make the check-in process simple, and there isn’t usually a very long wait, unlike some other dispensaries. \n\nI really like that it’s a very comfortable experience to visit the Sunnyside dispensary. They have **discounts for veterans** and sales on flower to make you a loyal customer. It’s an excellent dispensary that focuses on customer service, a welcoming environment, and high-quality products. If it’s your first time visiting, I recommend going in person to discuss with the pharmacist before making your purchase. \n\nOnce you know what product you like, it will be simple and easy to order online and walk in for pickup. They have discounts and daily deals to help you save money on products such as **vapes**, **tinctures**, **flower**, and **edibles**, in the Dayton area [Pure Ohio Wellness](https://www.pureohiowellness.com/rd/). To purchase marijuana, you must be registered for a [medical card](https://www.hellomd.com/get-started/ohio/). You want to make sure that you have one of the state’s [qualifying conditions](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/the-qualifying-medical-conditions-for-a-medical-marijuana-card-in-ohio). The best dispensary in Columbus, in my opinion, is [Terrasana](https://terrasanacannabisco.com/). Terrasana has an excellent rewards program, and you can earn points per dollar spent as they add up; you can save money towards accessories such as grinders and vaporizers. Since **smoking is not allowed in Ohio**, flower vaporizers are popular among consumers. Find a dispensary that best suits what you are looking for, that carries the products that best suit your needs, and a staff that is always willing to answer your questions and recommend products.\n\nRight now, some of the best strains that are featured at Terrasana are [Designer Rntz](https://terrasanacannabisco.com/menus/columbus-menu/?dtche%5Bproduct%5D=designer-rntz-28749) and [Cake It Easy](https://terrasanacannabisco.com/menus/columbus-menu/?dtche%5Bproduct%5D=cake-it-easy-93912). Designer Runtz is a rare hybrid strain - it has an incredible fruity flavor, and the smell profile is like a big bag of sugar and candy. Terrasana has Cleveland, Fremont, and Springfield locations if you are not in Columbus. \n\nBecause smoking is not allowed in Ohio, vaporizers such as the [Pax 3](https://terrasanacannabisco.com/menus/columbus-menu/?dtche%5Bproduct%5D=pax-3-complete-kit-sage) or [Puffco](https://terrasanacannabisco.com/menus/columbus-menu/?dtche%5Bproduct%5D=puffco-peak-vaporizer) are great devices that are sometimes offered as deals at some of these great dispensaries.\n\n[The Botanist](https://www.shopbotanist.com/locations/canton/hours-and-info/) is another beautiful dispensary within Ohio. **They have their brand of cannabis products** – their gummies are gluten-free and vegan, they come in a variety of delicious flavors. They also create their tinctures, vape cartridges, and grow their flower. I’ve heard that it can help but I also know that cannabis can give you the munchies. CBD works as a CB1 antagonist, so it can stop CB1 receptors from activating and can work to speed up metabolism as a result.\n\nOne [Korean study](https://hellomd.ca/questions-and-answers/i-heard-that-cbd-could-speed-up-your-metabolism-is-this-true) showed that CBD does this by:\n\n- Boosting the body's ability to burn calories by increasing the activity of the mitochondria in cells\n- Limiting  the availability of proteins needed to generate fat cells\n- Helping the browning of fat by stimulating genes and proteins to better break down and oxidize fat cells\n\nCBD may also act as an **appetite suppressant**, so it doesn’t bring on the munchies the way that THC sometimes does.\n\nYou can take CBD in a number of forms, such as **edibles**, **drinkables**, **tinctures**, **gel caps**, **vapeables** and **CBD-rich smokables**. For flower you might want to check [CBD Shark](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/cbd-shark), which boasts equal parts CBD and THC, to you can have a lighter \"high\" feeling while still taking advantage of the benefits that come with CBD, including potential weight loss.\n\nPeter G.\n_______________\n\n![Untitled10.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled10_987a96a6a1.png)\n\nAnother rarer cannabinoid that's called \"the sports car of cannabinoids\" for its various desirable  properties is **tetrahydrocannabivarin** (THCV) is getting a lot of attention.  It’s [been found to help with](https://www.steephill.com/blogs/38) panic attacks, PTSD,  tremors associated with diseases such as Parkinson’s, osteoporosis.\n\nMany in the cannabis business also hail THCV for its [ability to suppress appetite](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/marijuana-can-help-you-lose-weight-with-the-help-of-thcv-and-cbd). It seems to work by blocking the body's CB1 receptor, which helps to quell hunger.\n\nSince THCV is new to the market, there aren’t a lot of products available yet. But one that’s getting a lot of attention are [Wana Fit Gummies](https://www.wanabrands.com/products/gummies/optimals/optimals-fit-rec), part of Wana Optimals:a lineup wellness solutions powered by rare cannabinoids, [terpenes](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/what-are-cannabis-terpenes-and-how-do-they-work), and other plant-derived ingredients.\n\nThe well-known edibles manufacturr describes Wana Fit: \n\n“These first-of-their kind gummies harness the power of THCV, a rare cannabinoid that can boost focus, help disrupt unhelpful eating habits, and put you back in control of your diet. They won’t make you feel high, so you can take one tropical-punch-flavored gummy every day to experience the full long-term benefits of this remarkable plant-based tool.”\n\nThe gummies have a speedy five-to-15-minute onset, and a duration of two to four hours. Low in sugar and carbohydrates, each 4.5g gummy is only 15 calories. \n\nLaurel S.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1.0050251256281406,"src":"/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/ee604/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.png","srcSet":"/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/69585/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.png 200w,\n/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/497c6/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.png 400w,\n/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/ee604/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.png 800w,\n/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/f3583/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.png 1200w,\n/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/3c1de/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.png 1244w","srcWebp":"/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/58556/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/61e93/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.webp 200w,\n/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/1f5c5/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.webp 400w,\n/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/58556/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.webp 800w,\n/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/99238/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.webp 1200w,\n/static/ea46e518ada76c79d1f9f9058e1925c9/67b62/8c90066b90d80cf3ad8271ac8b695001.webp 1244w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12630-markdown","title":"Can I smoke marijuana in Ohio?","slug":"can-i-smoke-marijuana-in-ohio","content":"**“I want to purchase medical marijuana flower. There are a plethora of fantastic strains available at [dispensaries throughout the state](https://medicalmarijuana.ohio.gov/Documents/Dispensaries/List%20of%20Ohio%20Medical%20Marijuana%20Dispensaries%20with%20Certificates%20of%20Operation.pdf). In fact, the number of cannabis strains can be overwhelming. Even though flower is sold in medical cannabis dispensaries, smoking marijuana is **not permitted** according to state laws. [(HB 523)](https://www.mpp.org/states/ohio/ohio-medical-marijuana-law-summary/). The [Marijuana Policy Project](https://www.mpp.org/states/ohio/#:~:text=The%20petition%20would%20allow%20adults,about%20the%202022%20legalization%20initiative.) states that “raw cannabis may not be smoked, but maybe vaporized.” My favorite way to consume flower is through vaporizing – it hits smoothly, tastes good, and offers a clean high for any [stain of cannabis](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/the-7-best-medical-marijuana-strains-in-ohio). \n\nIt is good to consult your doctor or a dispensary pharmacist to discuss your condition. I prefer flower because I love to smell the bud and taste the flavor of the profile. Another way to select a strain that will work best for you is to consider the [strain’s terpene](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/what-are-cannabis-terpenes-and-how-do-they-work) profile. Terpenes, aka “terps,” affect the quality of the high and the flavor and aroma. Today, most companies test for terpenes, and dispensaries will typically list them in the product details on the menu.\n\nIt is a letdown that [smoking is not currently allowed](https://www.hellomd.com/questions-and-answers/consequences-of-getting-a-medical-card-in-ohio) in the state of Ohio – but I’ve thought of a few different ways around it. Thankfully, there are plenty of options for [vaporizers](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/how-to-vape-marijuana-safely) around the state, and many dispensaries will offer deals on these devices, and they are as simple as smoking out of a pipe. Also, I started experimenting with my recipes for cannabutter and edibles. Creating [DIY recipes](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/diy) is becoming a passion of mine. You can purchase up to eight ounces of flower every 90 days when you have your medical card. If you did not have a card and got caught with that amount, it would be **considered a felony** — punishable with up to a year in prison.\n\nEven though medical cannabis is allowed, you might consider being discreet about your marijuana consumption. **There is no smoking permitted in Ohio**, so smoking anywhere in public is not good. In addition, if you are caught driving under the influence of cannabis, you could be subject to receiving a **DUI ticket** and **having your driver’s license suspended**. Therefore, it is best to avoid driving and consuming cannabis to avoid these penalties. [Vaping](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/the-benefits-of-vaping-medical-marijuana) can sometimes be easier to maintain when it comes to the order of marijuana smoke.\n\nPlease remember that** cannabis is still illegal at the federal level**. Just remember to be cautious of the current laws and how to consume appropriately.\n\nRiley Y.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1.0050251256281406,"src":"/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/ee604/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.png","srcSet":"/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/69585/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.png 200w,\n/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/497c6/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.png 400w,\n/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/ee604/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.png 800w,\n/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/f3583/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.png 1200w,\n/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/edcaf/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.png 1269w","srcWebp":"/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/58556/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/61e93/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.webp 200w,\n/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/1f5c5/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.webp 400w,\n/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/58556/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.webp 800w,\n/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/99238/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.webp 1200w,\n/static/57673d5bd97f802200d32fa677d36c83/33530/87f47101791467d772570edc44f3b9e8.webp 1269w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12622-markdown","title":"Does cannabis heighten or decrease your sex drive?","slug":"does-cannabis-heighten-or-decrease-your-sex-drive","content":"**\"I’ve started using marijuana in the bedroom with my partner but before we explore our options further I want to make sure cannabis won’t affect either of our sex drives”** \n \nPeter C.\n\n______________________ \nYou may have noticed that you’re more “in the mood” since you’ve started using cannabis, or maybe your partner says sex is more enjoyable after they’ve taken marijuana. For many, cannabis is the only thing that gets their sex drive to even show up in the first place. You do not imagine these benefits, and they’re real. There’s now a [growing body of research](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31447385/) exploring marijuana’s effect on sex, confirming what many already report anecdotally.  \n \nIn October of 2017, [Stanford University conducted a study](https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2017/10/regular-marijuana-use-linked-to-more-sex.html) published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine and billed as the first to “examine the relationship between marijuana use and frequency of sexual intercourse.” This study revealed that regular cannabis users have 20% more sex than non-cannabis users.  \n \nThe responses of more than 28,000 females and 22,000 males between 24-25 were evaluated. Women who reported daily cannabis use had sex with male partners 7.1 times per month on average, compared to six times a month for non-cannabis users. Men who reported using cannabis daily also reported having sex with women 6.9 times on an average month, compared to 5.6 times for non-users. Researchers also found what they call a “**dose-dependent**” relationship in which the more cannabis that was consumed, the more sex was reported.  \n \nWhy would cannabis users possibly have more sex than non-consumers? Does cannabis increase libido? Yes, the [endocannabinoid system](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/what-is-the-endocannabinoid-system)  is involved in female sexual function and can heighten a female’s sexual arousal.  \n \nMaybe it’s born out of stoner stereotypes, but it’s been a common misconception for decades that marijuana is detrimental to men’s sex drive. But many studies have shown that the more marijuana people consume, the more sex they have. This holds true for both men and women of all different races, religions, and ethnicities. This doesn’t necessarily mean that men have more sex because they use marijuana – it may be that people who use cannabis are more open to sexual encounters. Cannabis eases stress and anxiety, which are two things that can commonly surround sexual encounters. \n  \nThere is still strong evidence that marijuana can both help and hurt men’s sexual  \nperformance. These studies aren’t definitive; it’s likely that how marijuana affects performance has more to do with people individually. We know that the endocannabinoid system facilitates sexual systems in the body; we also know that ECS varies from person to person.  \n \nWe know for sure that marijuana almost certainly lowers sperm count in men. However, how much and how significant this problem is, is hard to determine. It’s important to note that sperm counts have been falling in the western world for four straight decades. It may be suitable for men who use marijuana medically to consult with a urologist.\n\nIn terms of women, sexual dysfunction in females is a challenging issue that can cause severe difficulties in relationships. To make matters more complicated, it can be a touchy and embarrassing topic to talk about. Thankfully, research shows that cannabis can improve the sexual experience for women. [43% of women have some sort of sexual dysfunction]( https://www.webmd.com/women/guide/sexual-dysfunction-women#1) they’re dealing with. These problems may result from physiological issues like low blood pressure, chronic health conditions, or medications. Whatever the reason for the issue, sexual health and enjoyment are essential to overall health and well-being. We have good news! Cannabis may be able to get your sex life back on track. \n  \nThere’s a long history of cannabis’s use **as an aphrodisiac** that goes back thousands of years. In recent times, researchers have begun to study this important use and are finding that, yes, **cannabis does improve sex**. In one survey, more than [two-thirds of respondents said that cannabis increased sexual pleasure and satisfaction](https://www.jstor.org/stable/3812350?seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents). 20% of those surveyed said they used cannabis for sex regularly, and another 20% said it depends on factors like does, strain, and mood.  \n \nOne big reason that cannabis may help increase arousal in women is by increasing testosterone. High testosterone levels are linked to arousal, and low doses of cannabis compound tetrahydrocannabinol also known as [THC](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc/) have been shown to [dramatically spine testosterone](https://www.nytimes.com/1981/07/25/us/study-links-use-of-marijuana-to-a-fluctuation-in-sex-drive.html), getting the cannabis consumer in the mood for love.  \n \nCannabis also eases anxiety which for many women is linked to sexual disorders. Whether it’s anxiety over sex or just having a hard time letting go of life’s responsibilities during the act, stress can kill your sex life, and cannabis can help. Marijuana can also reduce painful sex. Pain during sex is another big reason for sexual dysfunction in women. Marijuana is known for its excellent pain-relieving properties. Cannabis can also increase sensitivity and pleasure; consumers report that the plant increases sensitivity to pleasurable sensations during sex, including orgasms.  \n \nAlyssa C.  \n","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/ee604/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.png","srcSet":"/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/69585/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.png 200w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/497c6/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.png 400w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/ee604/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.png 800w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/f3583/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/58556/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/61e93/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.webp 200w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/1f5c5/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.webp 400w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/58556/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.webp 800w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/99238/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12621-markdown","title":"How can I use cannabis during sex? Cannabis promotes relaxation and increased blood flow. [THC](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc/) is also known to positively affect cell receptors directly involved in tactile sensation and euphoria, allowing more pleasant signals to be received by the brain. Cannabis is and will always be enjoyed differently by individuals as everyone takes to marijuana differently, so it’s hard to say if it will help your sex life.  \n \nSome evidence points to [cannabis allowing the body to have deeper and longer orgasms](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31447385/). Some men have even indicated that marijuana can and should be used as ‘nature’s Viagra. For thousands of years, cannabis has been appointed as an aphrodisiac, so it comes as no shock that there seems to be some resurgence around this now that cannabis is somewhat in the limelight.  \n` \nPsychiatrist [Dr. Lester Grinspoon](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lester_Grinspoon) says that weed “greatly enhances the sexual experience for many people. There’s no doubt that when people are high, they’re more sensitive to their sexual feelings and urges”. While this all looks pretty positive, keep in mind that it’s all subjective to what you consume. For example, smoking a strain that will keep you couch-locked may not be the sexiest option. \n \n \n[Microdosing](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/microdosing/) has gained immense popularity among cannabis consumers. To microdose, you take a small amount of marijuana multiple times in a certain period to create a specific effect. Many cannabis users use this technique not to feel any psychoactive effects while reaping marijuana’s benefits. Or, for some, it helps them think slightly altered rather than experiencing an all-out high.  \n \nIncorporating microdosing into your bedroom routine may deliver aphrodisiac effects of marijuana without making you too sedated, anxious, or out of control. Depending on your ingestion method, you could **smoke** or **vape** a small dose of cannabis right before hitting the bedroom.  \n \nA few commonly used strains for sexual enhancement are Voodoo, Grandaddy Purple, and Flo. These are by no means the only strains, but they seem to be commonplace in strain lists that get you in ‘the mood.’ Another great option for women in the bedroom is [sexual lubricant enhancers](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/the-5-best-cannabis-products-for-better-sex-in-california).  \n \nTwo great options for these are [‘Quiver’ by HerbaBuena]( https://herbabuena.com/) and [‘Foria Pleasure’]( https://www.foriawellness.com/products/intimacy-lubricant) by Foria. These are typically applied to the vaginal area about thirty minutes before sexual activity. These lubricants create a sensation that leads some users to say ‘Wow’! As a side note, topical applications do not create any sort of “head high,” which some people prefer in the bedroom.  \n \nClaire V. We’re both frequent cannabis users so we thought it could be fun to try out some products, any recommendations?”** \n \nKate H.\n______________________ \n \n![Untitled46.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled46_9e13bd4372.png)\n\nCannabis, in general, can relax people and make them further enjoy each other’s company which can enhance sexual pleasure, so it’s no wonder why cannabis users are starting to explore their options of usage in the bedroom. Any cannabis products used for sexual encounters and cannabis usage, in general, are not always about “you.” When your partner feels good, having pleasurable sensations, getting satisfaction from what you are doing with them, it leads to enhancing your own sexual pleasure. And sometimes that’s enough!  \n \nThere are two essential things to consider when before mixing [marijuana and sex](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-and-sex-a-brief-world-history): **tolerance** and **preference**. Choosing the wrong product or consuming too much of a product you love before getting intimate could turn a romantic night into an un-sexy nightmare. There will likely be a period of trial and error to figure out precisely what strains and products increase your sex drive and sexual sensitivity without making you anxious or tired.  \n \nIf you’re looking for products for sexual enhancement, there are various great options. [Foria](https://www.foriawellness.com/collections/sexual-wellness) has two products that have received some great reviews. [Foria Pleasure](https://www.foriawellness.com/collections/sexual-wellness) is a topical spray applied around and slightly inside the vagina. Foria Pleasure has been reported to have no “high” related to the application of the spray. However, if oral sex occurs after application, the partner performing that act can experience a “high.” Women have reported feeling more relaxed, and some have even said they felt a “warm sensation” in their vaginas.  \n \nForia also has [Foria Explore](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/foria-explore-for-anal-sex), a suppository for rectal administration. It has been reported to make anal sex more comfortable and pleasurable, leading to a more enjoyable night. \n \nThere are many fantastic strains that can increase your sex drive. For example, [Green Crack](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/green-crack), while it may have one of the most unfortunate marijuana strain names, it’s a fan favorite for multiple reasons. Green Crack is a [Sativa-dominant strain](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-101-indica-sativa-and-hybrid-explained) that offers a sweet aroma and a smooth hit. Its cerebral, energetic, and euphoric high makes it a great choice to set the mood before having sex. It’s a good option for moderate-to-heavy cannabis users looking to spice up their sex life. As this strain tends to be high-energy, give it a try for an upbeat bedroom performance or any daytime rendezvous.  \n \nAnother excellent strain for bedroom use is [Northern Lights](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/northern-lights). There’s nothing worse than the anxiety that can come before having sex with a new partner or trying something outside your comfort zone in the bedroom. If you’re looking for something to ease these anxiety-evoking activities, Northern Lights is your strain. It is a [pure Indica strain](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-101-indica-sativa-and-hybrid-explained) known for its ability to relieve symptoms of anxiety, stress, and pain. A couple of hits of Northern Lights, and your stress and anxiety will melt away and be replaced with a euphoric high and a totally relaxed body. Be wary; too much of this strain can cause sleepiness, so it’s best to start with a small amount and work your way up to reduce the likeliness of falling asleep before the deed is done.  \n \nBrandon S.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/ee604/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.png","srcSet":"/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/69585/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.png 200w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/497c6/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.png 400w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/ee604/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.png 800w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/f3583/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/58556/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/61e93/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.webp 200w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/1f5c5/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.webp 400w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/58556/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.webp 800w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/99238/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}}]}},"pageContext":{"limit":12,"skip":0,"numPages":4,"currentPage":1,"id":5492,"name":"Medical Marijuana","slug":"medical-marijuana","country":"US"}},"staticQueryHashes":["3949754563","4179947113","4202924991"]}
