Be very cautious introducing cannabis as this interaction with opiods can also exaggerate common opioid side effects such as nausea, dizziness, or sedation.  Without knowing more about your father's medical condition it's hard to be more specific, but I would begin with only a few mg of THC, making sure there is a significant amount of CBD in the preparation you are using, and increase very slowly as tolerated to see if there is benefit for his discomfort.
