Topical creams may be better for you since your pain is more localized. I am quoting from an article from our website regarding transdermal patches: \n\"Transdermal patches are medicated adhesive patches designed to be placed on the skin in order to release small amounts of medication into the bloodstream over a longer period of time. Patches should be placed on a venous area of skin for proper absorption and offer a different type of relief than topical creams. “Topical creams can typically be absorbed by the top 1-3 layers of skin and may offer pain relief locally, to say a shoulder or knee,” Graham Sorkin, of Mary’s says. “Transdermal patches differ from topical creams in that the medicine goes thru all 7 epidermal layers of skin and enters directly into bloodstream. Transdermal patches deliver systematic rather than localized relief.”\n\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/cannabis-transdermal-patches-easy-to-use-effective-for-pain\n\nHowever, this mode of administration is not available in all states. Please visit your state website to look up what is approved. For NYS specifically, transdermal patches are not approved: https://www.health.ny.gov/regulations/medical_marijuana/faq.htm\n\nrachelnp","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7774-markdown","title":"What's the absolute easiest way to ease slowly into cannabis and dosing for pain? This means, there are equal parts of CBD and THC in each dose. Next comes determining the milligrams in each dose. I would start with 2mg of 1:1 THC/CBD. See how you feel, did you experience any pain relief? If you did not feel sufficient pain relief, then take 4mg. You should always consult with the pharmacist at your medical marijuana dispensary, as they are great at helping you find your optimal dose.\n\ntatiananp","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7771-markdown","title":"Where can I find a salve for pain from inflammation and tendonitis? After qualifying and receiving a DOH Medical Marijuana Certification from a registered MMJ Healthcare Provider, you may purchase from any NY dispensary. Medical Marijuana is a great and effective treatment for chronic pain available in many forms. Until recently, NY MMJ Dispensaries were only allowed to produce medical marijuana in the following forms; tinctures/oils, capsules/tablets and vaporizers. New regulations just passed this month will permit new forms of the drug, including chewable and effervescent tablets and lozenges as well as topical lotions, ointments and patches.\n\ntatiananp","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7767-markdown","title":"Where should I put a transdermal patch if I have knee pain?","slug":"where-should-i-put-a-transdermal-patch-if-i-have-knee-pain","content":"\n_____________________\nTransdermal patches are designed to provide relief to the area they are applied to. It has been two weeks and not working yet. Do you think the doctor meant one dropper instead of one drop?\"\n_____________________\nThere is no one size fits all when it comes to dosing...the general rule is to start off with a low dose and slowly increase the drops until you get the desired effect. I am not a doctor but have seen many patients with pain issues and they start with one or two drops of a tincture and if no relief, then increase it by a drop until you get pain relief. I also depends on the strength of the tincture. Some tinctures are very concentrated and you only need a few drops while others are much weaker and may need a whole dropperful.\nBe open to experiment!!\n\nPiantaTinta","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7759-markdown","title":"What can you recommend for post-surgical pain from rotator cuff surgery?","slug":"what-can-you-recommend-for-post-surgical-pain-from-rotator-cuff-surgery","content":"\n_____________________\nYou don't mention how far post-op you are at this point. I recommend you take the drugs in the hospital for the first 48 hours, along with ice packs, and then you can start moving toward cannabis to control your pain. Vaporizing a 2:1, CBD:THC should help to stop the inflammation and pain so take small puffs frequently to keep your pain in remission or you could also try a high CBD vape like AC/DC for pain relief And when you have your dressings remove you can start to apply CBD dominant topical salve every hour, during your waking hours, to keep your pain in remission but be sure to remember to treat your lower cervical spine for complete blockage of the pain. This should take care of your acute postoperative pain.\n\ndrolson","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7756-markdown","title":"I am interested in the Lord Jones high CBD gum drops. ","slug":"possible-arthritis-pain","content":"\"I had shoulder surgery for a torn rotator cuff 2 years ago, however, it doesn't appear to have healed correctly as I still have pain. I also have severe pain in my right shoulder. The pain seems to refer to my bicep and upper arm. I believe they said it could be from arthritis and or nerve impingement. When I use my arms (shoulders) in activities my upper arms and neck muscles ache and hurt a lot. I ice frequently....I have a medical marijuana card, but have had no real luck with dealing with my pain. What ration of BCD and THC would be best to beat this pain? Can you recommend a tincture that would work best?\"\n_____________________\n\nHello! I recommend to try a 1:1 CBD:THC sublingual tincture and topical salve. The CBD helps to control inflammation (the \"-itis\" part of arthritis) while THC can help to decrease the perception of pain. I'd start with a low dose, such as 1-2 drops under the tongue in the evening and increase slowly if needed. The topical salve can be used additionally or alone on the skin surface where you have pain. I'd recommend to follow up with your primary care doctor and/or surgeon, consider long term physical therapy, and other alternative measures as part of a holistic approach to pain control. Best of luck!\n\ndrjacquelynlew","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7730-markdown","title":"I have chronic pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, neck, shoulders and carpal tunnel. We started HelloMD because I suffered from pain, migraines and some other issues. After trying cannabis I found I was relatively pain free. Everyone is different so what works for me, may not work for you. My solution has been a daily regime of high CBD to THC tinctures. I typically ingest a 20:1 tincture a few times a day as well as a 4:1 tincture. CBD is an anti inflammatory and an analgesic among other fantastic properties. Small amounts of THC also help with pain. Vaping a high CBD pen of 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 also helps. If I can not sleep I micro dose THC in small doses - typically under 5mg. All of these things together have helped me. I am not a doctor and can only say what has worked for me.
