For many, cannabis is the only thing that gets their sex drive to even show up in the first place. You do not imagine these benefits, and they’re real. There’s now a [growing body of research](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31447385/) exploring marijuana’s effect on sex, confirming what many already report anecdotally. \n \nIn October of 2017, [Stanford University conducted a study](https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2017/10/regular-marijuana-use-linked-to-more-sex.html) published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine and billed as the first to “examine the relationship between marijuana use and frequency of sexual intercourse.” This study revealed that regular cannabis users have 20% more sex than non-cannabis users. \n \nThe responses of more than 28,000 females and 22,000 males between 24-25 were evaluated. Women who reported daily cannabis use had sex with male partners 7.1 times per month on average, compared to six times a month for non-cannabis users. Men who reported using cannabis daily also reported having sex with women 6.9 times on an average month, compared to 5.6 times for non-users. Researchers also found what they call a “**dose-dependent**” relationship in which the more cannabis that was consumed, the more sex was reported. \n \nWhy would cannabis users possibly have more sex than non-consumers? Does cannabis increase libido? Yes, the [endocannabinoid system](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/what-is-the-endocannabinoid-system) is involved in female sexual function and can heighten a female’s sexual arousal. \n \nMaybe it’s born out of stoner stereotypes, but it’s been a common misconception for decades that marijuana is detrimental to men’s sex drive. But many studies have shown that the more marijuana people consume, the more sex they have. This holds true for both men and women of all different races, religions, and ethnicities. This doesn’t necessarily mean that men have more sex because they use marijuana – it may be that people who use cannabis are more open to sexual encounters. Cannabis eases stress and anxiety, which are two things that can commonly surround sexual encounters. \n \nThere is still strong evidence that marijuana can both help and hurt men’s sexual \nperformance. These studies aren’t definitive; it’s likely that how marijuana affects performance has more to do with people individually. We know that the endocannabinoid system facilitates sexual systems in the body; we also know that ECS varies from person to person. \n \nWe know for sure that marijuana almost certainly lowers sperm count in men. However, how much and how significant this problem is, is hard to determine. It’s important to note that sperm counts have been falling in the western world for four straight decades. It may be suitable for men who use marijuana medically to consult with a urologist.\n\nIn terms of women, sexual dysfunction in females is a challenging issue that can cause severe difficulties in relationships. To make matters more complicated, it can be a touchy and embarrassing topic to talk about. Thankfully, research shows that cannabis can improve the sexual experience for women. [43% of women have some sort of sexual dysfunction]( https://www.webmd.com/women/guide/sexual-dysfunction-women#1) they’re dealing with. These problems may result from physiological issues like low blood pressure, chronic health conditions, or medications. Whatever the reason for the issue, sexual health and enjoyment are essential to overall health and well-being. We have good news! Cannabis may be able to get your sex life back on track. \n \nThere’s a long history of cannabis’s use **as an aphrodisiac** that goes back thousands of years. In recent times, researchers have begun to study this important use and are finding that, yes, **cannabis does improve sex**. In one survey, more than [two-thirds of respondents said that cannabis increased sexual pleasure and satisfaction](https://www.jstor.org/stable/3812350?seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents). 20% of those surveyed said they used cannabis for sex regularly, and another 20% said it depends on factors like does, strain, and mood. \n \nOne big reason that cannabis may help increase arousal in women is by increasing testosterone. High testosterone levels are linked to arousal, and low doses of cannabis compound tetrahydrocannabinol also known as [THC](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc/) have been shown to [dramatically spine testosterone](https://www.nytimes.com/1981/07/25/us/study-links-use-of-marijuana-to-a-fluctuation-in-sex-drive.html), getting the cannabis consumer in the mood for love. \n \nCannabis also eases anxiety which for many women is linked to sexual disorders. Whether it’s anxiety over sex or just having a hard time letting go of life’s responsibilities during the act, stress can kill your sex life, and cannabis can help. Marijuana can also reduce painful sex. Pain during sex is another big reason for sexual dysfunction in women. Marijuana is known for its excellent pain-relieving properties. Cannabis can also increase sensitivity and pleasure; consumers report that the plant increases sensitivity to pleasurable sensations during sex, including orgasms. \n \nAlyssa C. \n","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/ee604/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.png","srcSet":"/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/69585/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.png 200w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/497c6/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.png 400w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/ee604/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.png 800w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/f3583/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/58556/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/61e93/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.webp 200w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/1f5c5/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.webp 400w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/58556/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.webp 800w,\n/static/d4ae85bdc0403600e83e3c14e81b5196/99238/e98a7b9d1b86be23283d9ac3e48eb4a0.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12624-markdown","title":"Which is better for intimacy, THC or CBD?","slug":"which-is-better-for-intimacy-thc-or-cbd","content":"**\"I often use both THC and CBD in my daily life and have used both in the bedroom but I’m curious which one will supply the best results”** \n \nCharles A.\n\n_________________________ \n There is a long-time [history of cannabis and sex working together](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-and-sex-a-brief-world-history). Many people may not think about cannabis enhancing their sex lives. For years, many cannabis users have sworn that the plant helps with their sexual stamina and improves sexual sensations. \n \n[THC](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc/) is the most well-known cannabinoid found in marijuana plants and can benefit various medical and recreational uses. THC is often associated with its psychoactive properties and is predominant in most strains on the market. It is important to remember that too much THC can actually kill sexual desire or cause anxiety and even paranoia. For some men, too much THC can cause erectile dysfunction; that said, the right amount can enhance sexual experiences; it’s trial and error. \n \n[CBD](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/cbd/) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. CBD lacks the psychoactive effects of THC because it does not bind with the same receptors in the [endocannabinoid system](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/what-is-the-endocannabinoid-system). CBD can be a great addition to your sexual encounters as it can help you and your partner relax. Sex can certainly come with many problems, but luckily CBD can help with many of them. [CBD lowers anxiety](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/understanding-how-cbd-can-calm-your-anxiety) which can be a primary reason for sexual difficulties; it can relieve pain which is another common issue during sex. CBD can ramp up your pleasure as it increases pleasurable sensations. \n \nIf you’re looking to bring down the heat once the magic has played out, a CBD-dominant tincture or hybrid strain such as [Charlotte’s Web](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/charlotte's-web) could be great options for relaxing cuddles. Finding a proper dose can be done by experimenting with [THC: CBD ratios]( https://www.hellomd.com/articles/quick-guide-to-finding-your-ideal-cbd-to-thc-ratio). \n \nTHC strains can help you bring up the volume in the bedroom. You may consider [Indica-hybrid strains](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-101-indica-sativa-and-hybrid-explained) that promote arousal, euphoria, and feeling uplifted, such as [Northern Lights](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/northern-lights). There are many different consumption methods to consider for those special nights. Maybe you want to enjoy a joint while watching late-night movies, pass around a [vape pen](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/the-benefits-of-vaping-medical-marijuana), or make a [DIY-infused recipe]( https://www.hellomd.com/articles/diy-recipe-gluten-free-low-sugar-chocolate-chip-marijuana-cookies) with one another for some unique homemade edibles. Another great way to incorporate cannabis into your sex life is with some out-of-this-world [THC-infused lubes](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/the-5-best-cannabis-products-for-better-sex-in-california). Topical lubes do not get you high, but the sensations you will feel in both partners’ nether regions will be unforgettable. \n \nWhile THC can help build up euphoria and desire for sex, CBD can be perfect once you’re wrapped up in the sheets and looking to wind down. It’s up to each individual to decide which works better! \n\nOlivia S.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1.5151515151515151,"src":"/static/1ce999505d14ee26d8d3a4b1a14f5e00/ee604/e3949462c1f60732d214842e8af6dab7.png","srcSet":"/static/1ce999505d14ee26d8d3a4b1a14f5e00/69585/e3949462c1f60732d214842e8af6dab7.png 200w,\n/static/1ce999505d14ee26d8d3a4b1a14f5e00/497c6/e3949462c1f60732d214842e8af6dab7.png 400w,\n/static/1ce999505d14ee26d8d3a4b1a14f5e00/ee604/e3949462c1f60732d214842e8af6dab7.png 800w,\n/static/1ce999505d14ee26d8d3a4b1a14f5e00/f3583/e3949462c1f60732d214842e8af6dab7.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/1ce999505d14ee26d8d3a4b1a14f5e00/58556/e3949462c1f60732d214842e8af6dab7.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/1ce999505d14ee26d8d3a4b1a14f5e00/61e93/e3949462c1f60732d214842e8af6dab7.webp 200w,\n/static/1ce999505d14ee26d8d3a4b1a14f5e00/1f5c5/e3949462c1f60732d214842e8af6dab7.webp 400w,\n/static/1ce999505d14ee26d8d3a4b1a14f5e00/58556/e3949462c1f60732d214842e8af6dab7.webp 800w,\n/static/1ce999505d14ee26d8d3a4b1a14f5e00/99238/e3949462c1f60732d214842e8af6dab7.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12621-markdown","title":"How can I use cannabis during sex? ","slug":"how-can-i-use-cannabis-during-sex","content":"**”I want to start using cannabis in the bedroom but I don’t have any prior knowledge on this, any suggestions?”** \n \nBella K. \n\n______________________ \n \n![Untitled44.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled44_abff73a6d3.png)\n\nMany people believe cannabis can be a great option in the bedroom, as using **cannabis as an aphrodisiac** is an ancient tradition. Cannabis promotes relaxation and increased blood flow. [THC](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc/) is also known to positively affect cell receptors directly involved in tactile sensation and euphoria, allowing more pleasant signals to be received by the brain. Cannabis is and will always be enjoyed differently by individuals as everyone takes to marijuana differently, so it’s hard to say if it will help your sex life. \n \nSome evidence points to [cannabis allowing the body to have deeper and longer orgasms](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31447385/). Some men have even indicated that marijuana can and should be used as ‘nature’s Viagra. For thousands of years, cannabis has been appointed as an aphrodisiac, so it comes as no shock that there seems to be some resurgence around this now that cannabis is somewhat in the limelight. \n` \nPsychiatrist [Dr. Lester Grinspoon](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lester_Grinspoon) says that weed “greatly enhances the sexual experience for many people. There’s no doubt that when people are high, they’re more sensitive to their sexual feelings and urges”. While this all looks pretty positive, keep in mind that it’s all subjective to what you consume. For example, smoking a strain that will keep you couch-locked may not be the sexiest option. \n \n \n[Microdosing](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/microdosing/) has gained immense popularity among cannabis consumers. To microdose, you take a small amount of marijuana multiple times in a certain period to create a specific effect. Many cannabis users use this technique not to feel any psychoactive effects while reaping marijuana’s benefits. Or, for some, it helps them think slightly altered rather than experiencing an all-out high. \n \nIncorporating microdosing into your bedroom routine may deliver aphrodisiac effects of marijuana without making you too sedated, anxious, or out of control. Depending on your ingestion method, you could **smoke** or **vape** a small dose of cannabis right before hitting the bedroom. \n \nA few commonly used strains for sexual enhancement are Voodoo, Grandaddy Purple, and Flo. These are by no means the only strains, but they seem to be commonplace in strain lists that get you in ‘the mood.’ Another great option for women in the bedroom is [sexual lubricant enhancers](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/the-5-best-cannabis-products-for-better-sex-in-california). \n \nTwo great options for these are [‘Quiver’ by HerbaBuena]( https://herbabuena.com/) and [‘Foria Pleasure’]( https://www.foriawellness.com/products/intimacy-lubricant) by Foria. These are typically applied to the vaginal area about thirty minutes before sexual activity. These lubricants create a sensation that leads some users to say ‘Wow’! As a side note, topical applications do not create any sort of “head high,” which some people prefer in the bedroom. \n \nClaire V. Any cannabis products used for sexual encounters and cannabis usage, in general, are not always about “you.” When your partner feels good, having pleasurable sensations, getting satisfaction from what you are doing with them, it leads to enhancing your own sexual pleasure. And sometimes that’s enough! \n \nThere are two essential things to consider when before mixing [marijuana and sex](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-and-sex-a-brief-world-history): **tolerance** and **preference**. Choosing the wrong product or consuming too much of a product you love before getting intimate could turn a romantic night into an un-sexy nightmare. There will likely be a period of trial and error to figure out precisely what strains and products increase your sex drive and sexual sensitivity without making you anxious or tired. \n \nIf you’re looking for products for sexual enhancement, there are various great options. [Foria](https://www.foriawellness.com/collections/sexual-wellness) has two products that have received some great reviews. [Foria Pleasure](https://www.foriawellness.com/collections/sexual-wellness) is a topical spray applied around and slightly inside the vagina. Foria Pleasure has been reported to have no “high” related to the application of the spray. However, if oral sex occurs after application, the partner performing that act can experience a “high.” Women have reported feeling more relaxed, and some have even said they felt a “warm sensation” in their vaginas. \n \nForia also has [Foria Explore](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/foria-explore-for-anal-sex), a suppository for rectal administration. It has been reported to make anal sex more comfortable and pleasurable, leading to a more enjoyable night. \n \nThere are many fantastic strains that can increase your sex drive. For example, [Green Crack](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/green-crack), while it may have one of the most unfortunate marijuana strain names, it’s a fan favorite for multiple reasons. Green Crack is a [Sativa-dominant strain](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-101-indica-sativa-and-hybrid-explained) that offers a sweet aroma and a smooth hit. Its cerebral, energetic, and euphoric high makes it a great choice to set the mood before having sex. It’s a good option for moderate-to-heavy cannabis users looking to spice up their sex life. As this strain tends to be high-energy, give it a try for an upbeat bedroom performance or any daytime rendezvous. \n \nAnother excellent strain for bedroom use is [Northern Lights](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/northern-lights). There’s nothing worse than the anxiety that can come before having sex with a new partner or trying something outside your comfort zone in the bedroom. If you’re looking for something to ease these anxiety-evoking activities, Northern Lights is your strain. It is a [pure Indica strain](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-101-indica-sativa-and-hybrid-explained) known for its ability to relieve symptoms of anxiety, stress, and pain. A couple of hits of Northern Lights, and your stress and anxiety will melt away and be replaced with a euphoric high and a totally relaxed body. Be wary; too much of this strain can cause sleepiness, so it’s best to start with a small amount and work your way up to reduce the likeliness of falling asleep before the deed is done. \n \nBrandon S.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/ee604/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.png","srcSet":"/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/69585/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.png 200w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/497c6/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.png 400w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/ee604/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.png 800w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/f3583/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/58556/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/61e93/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.webp 200w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/1f5c5/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.webp 400w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/58556/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.webp 800w,\n/static/7435c0687dd8e4103826581dc581a1c5/99238/de75b8a9baf17706dff2d52618885b3c.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12627-markdown","title":"Can medical marijuana help me relax before sex?","slug":"can-medical-marijuana-help-me-relax-before-sex","content":"**“I’ve got to admit that I sometimes get a bit nervous before having sex. The stats are on your side. Studies show that [marijuana users have more sex](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-users-have-more-sex). A [2017 Stanford study](https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2017/10/regular-marijuana-use-linked-to-more-sex.html), for example, showed that regular cannabis users have 20% more sex than non-cannabis users.\n\nWomen get a lot from using weed as a libido booster. A 2012 study showed that “the [endocannabinoid system](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/what-is-the-endocannabinoid-system) is involved in female sexual function” and can heighten female’s sexual arousal. \n\nAnd it’s not just smoking cannabis that can help you in the bedroom. Vaping, edibles, tinctures, and even topical ointments can play their part.\n\nAmong some of the better [weed products for sex](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/the-5-best-cannabis-products-for-better-sex-in-california) is the [Foria Intimacy Sex Oil](https://www.foriawellness.com/products/intimacy-lubricant). The product is designed “to provide all-natural moisture, with 400mg broad-spectrum CBD to enhance arousal, soothe and excite.” This oil aims to boost female pleasure by increasing sensitivity, leading to stronger orgasms.\n\nIn a similar vein, [Apothecanna Sexy Time Personal Intimacy Oil](https://apothecanna.com/products/sexy-time-personal-intimacy-oil) should be applied to the neck, chest, and erogenous zones 15 minutes before sexual intimacy. Its key ingredients are:\n\n- Jasmine — aphrodisiac, relaxing\n- Coconut — moisturizing\n- Argan — hydrating, softening\n- Cannabis — anti-inflammatory, relieves stress\n\nIf you want to just relax, [Wildflower’s CBD Tincture’s Tropical Flavor](https://buywildflower.com/products/wellness-cbd-tropical-fruit) is a good bet, placing drops under your tongue with a dropper. [CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabis ingredient](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/cbd) and known for its ability to relax, as well as help with pain and inflammation. This tincture is plant-based and vegan friendly and has a natural fruit flavor that makes it easy to take.\n\nRobin K.\n___________________\n\n![Untitled44.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled44_abff73a6d3.png)\n\nFor men, sometimes the cliche is that weed can get in the way of sexual performance. The evidence is mixed. In some cases, marijuana [seems to enhance](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/how-marijuana-affects-mens-sexual-health) both make and female sex drives. \n\nWhile some men turn to weed to help with erectile dysfunction, other evidence seems to show that it can get in the way of sexual performance and lower sperm count. The key seems to be to take weed in moderation and to know what your limits are.\n\nThe idea is to take enough to make you relax, but not relax so much that you follow to sleep under your lover’s frustrated gaze.\n\nOne strain that really promotes relaxation is [Sour Diesel](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/sour-diesel). Named for its diesel-like aroma, and known for its energetic and joyful high, this popular Sativa strain is easy to find. It works to relax because of its high [THC levels](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/thc). However, if you are a new weed user, you need to be careful about how much you smoke or vape, because you might find couch fun turns into couch lock.\n\nOr you might want to try [Grape Ape](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/grape-ape). This Indica strain is known for its deeply relaxing effects and grape candy flavor. It’s great if you are looking to enjoy a state of mental calm.\n\nAnother THC-heavy strain known for its relaxation powers is the Indica [Hindu Kush](https://www.hellomd.com/strains/hindu-kush). It has a sweet and earthy aroma and provides a relaxed, happy high. But again it has powerful sedative effects, so you must use with care until you know what your limits are. You want to enhance, not go into a trance.\n\nHaygo B.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/2c099fbc0c0e2bd40c0167492f4eb5d2/ee604/27d2b1ba75193f62044df202a8c88acb.png","srcSet":"/static/2c099fbc0c0e2bd40c0167492f4eb5d2/69585/27d2b1ba75193f62044df202a8c88acb.png 200w,\n/static/2c099fbc0c0e2bd40c0167492f4eb5d2/497c6/27d2b1ba75193f62044df202a8c88acb.png 400w,\n/static/2c099fbc0c0e2bd40c0167492f4eb5d2/ee604/27d2b1ba75193f62044df202a8c88acb.png 800w,\n/static/2c099fbc0c0e2bd40c0167492f4eb5d2/f3583/27d2b1ba75193f62044df202a8c88acb.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/2c099fbc0c0e2bd40c0167492f4eb5d2/58556/27d2b1ba75193f62044df202a8c88acb.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/2c099fbc0c0e2bd40c0167492f4eb5d2/61e93/27d2b1ba75193f62044df202a8c88acb.webp 200w,\n/static/2c099fbc0c0e2bd40c0167492f4eb5d2/1f5c5/27d2b1ba75193f62044df202a8c88acb.webp 400w,\n/static/2c099fbc0c0e2bd40c0167492f4eb5d2/58556/27d2b1ba75193f62044df202a8c88acb.webp 800w,\n/static/2c099fbc0c0e2bd40c0167492f4eb5d2/99238/27d2b1ba75193f62044df202a8c88acb.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12619-markdown","title":"THC or CBD for better sex?","slug":"thc-or-cbd-for-better-sex","content":"***\"I just started consuming cannabis last January. There is a long-time history of [cannabis and sex](https://hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-and-sex-a-brief-world-history) working together. Many people may not think about cannabis enhancing their sex lives. For years now, many [male cannabis users](https://hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-and-male-sexual-performance) have sworn that the plant helps with their sexual stamina and improves sexual sensation. Research is beginning to back up these claims made by consumers. There have also been some fascinating reports of women using [cannabis-based gel](https://hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-based-gel-could-reduce-painful-sex-for-women) to reduce painful sex.\n\n**THC** [(Tetrahydrocannabinol)](https://www.livescience.com/24553-what-is-thc.html) is the most well-known cannabinoid found in marijuana plants. THC can be beneficial in various medical and recreational uses, and is often associated with its psychoactive properties THC iss predominant in most strains on the market. But, remember too much THC can actually kill sexual desire or cause anxiety and even paranoia. It may also cause erectile dysfunction for some men. That said, just the right amount can enhance sexual experience, it’s really trial and error.\n\n**CBD** [(cannabidiol)](https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-1439/cannabidiol-cbd) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. CBD lacks the psychoactive effects of THC because it does not bind with the same receptors in the [endocannabinoid system (ECS)](https://hellomd.com/articles/what-is-the-endocannabinoid-system). CBD can be a great addition to your sexual encounters as it can help you relax! \n\nWhile THC can help build up euphoria and that desire for sex, CBD can be perfect once you're all wrapped up in the sheets and looking to wind down. Really, it’s up to each individual to decide which works better – THC or CBD! Good luck!!!!\n\nAlexis M.\n___________________________\n\n![Untitled49.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled49_0bbab95c2c.png)\n\nA study in the [Journal of Sexual Medicine](https://www.jsm.jsexmed.org/article/S1743-6095(17)31417-0/fulltext) was published and suggests that people who smoke more marijuana are having more sex than those who smoke less or abstain. Women who had consumed marijuana daily reported having sex 7.1 times a month, on average. For men, it was 6.9 times. Women who did not use cannabis at all, reported sex 6 times a month, on average, while men who did not use weed had sex an average of 5.6 times a month. This is with cannabis that contains THC.\n\nThe [University of Kansas Medical School](https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/02791072.1982.10471911?journalCode=ujpd20) conducted a 2012 study that revealed cannabis enhanced sexual desire and performance in respondents. While doctors do not know precisely how cannabis manages to do this, they see that it promotes the release of [oxytocin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxytocin), the \"bonding hormone\" that makes sexual partners feel close. Because of this, (cannabis with THC) has often been classified as a sexual stimulant, and consumers have been taking advantage of it for years to have amazing sex and perform better.\n\nCole B.\n\n____________________________\n\n![Untitled48.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled48_54f1f00bad.png)\n\nIf you are looking to bring down the heat once the magic has played out, a CBD-dominant tincture or a hybrid strain could be great options for relaxing cuddles and watching a movie. Finding your proper dose can be done by experimenting with [THC: CBD ratios](https://hellomd.com/articles/quick-guide-to-finding-your-ideal-cbd-to-thc-ratio). You can start with a higher THC and lower CBD combo to help build up that bonding energy. Several different ratio options are available within dispensaries, ranging from 1:1, 2:1,5:1, and many more combos.\n\nTHC strains could help you bring up the volume in the bedroom. You may want to consider Indica-hybrid strains that promote arousal, euphoria, and feeling uplifted. [Granddaddy Purple]( https://hellomd.com/strains/granddaddy-purple) is a long-lasting Indica strain that promotes a dreamy state of being. [Northern Lights]( https://hellomd.com/strains/northern-lights) offers euphoric effects that settle in throughout the whole body, relaxing muscles and easing the mind. [Sour Diesel]( https://hellomd.com/strains/sour-diesel) is a Sativa-dominant strain that delivers bursts of energy and rushes of excitement — perfect for bringing the stamina.\n\nThere are many different consumption methods to consider for special nights. Maybe you want to enjoy a joint while watching a date-night movie, pass around a vape pen while playing video games, or make a [DIY-infused recipe](https://hellomd.com/articles/diy-recipe-gluten-free-low-sugar-chocolate-chip-marijuana-cookies) with one another for some unique homemade edibles. \n\nAlso, you may want to do some research into some out-of-this-world THC-infused lubes that may be available in your state. Topical lubes do not get you high but the sensations that you will feel in both partners' nether regions will be unforgettable.\n\nKelsey K.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/915a17fe558e87134dbae82dce302302/ee604/8f3565e61c369997563607dc12ecd6d8.png","srcSet":"/static/915a17fe558e87134dbae82dce302302/69585/8f3565e61c369997563607dc12ecd6d8.png 200w,\n/static/915a17fe558e87134dbae82dce302302/497c6/8f3565e61c369997563607dc12ecd6d8.png 400w,\n/static/915a17fe558e87134dbae82dce302302/ee604/8f3565e61c369997563607dc12ecd6d8.png 800w,\n/static/915a17fe558e87134dbae82dce302302/f3583/8f3565e61c369997563607dc12ecd6d8.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/915a17fe558e87134dbae82dce302302/58556/8f3565e61c369997563607dc12ecd6d8.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/915a17fe558e87134dbae82dce302302/61e93/8f3565e61c369997563607dc12ecd6d8.webp 200w,\n/static/915a17fe558e87134dbae82dce302302/1f5c5/8f3565e61c369997563607dc12ecd6d8.webp 400w,\n/static/915a17fe558e87134dbae82dce302302/58556/8f3565e61c369997563607dc12ecd6d8.webp 800w,\n/static/915a17fe558e87134dbae82dce302302/99238/8f3565e61c369997563607dc12ecd6d8.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_8577-markdown","title":"What strain is best for sexual desire","slug":"what-strain-is-best-for-sexual-desire","content":"\"I no longer feel the desire for sex. You should think first about what type of THC tolerance do you have? Then, do you prefer Indica (sleepy, body high) or Sativa (more uplifting energetic high). For sexual desire, you definately want to have some THC involved. Your tolerance can vary widely so I would start with a minimal amount first and moderate from there. Try a Kiva espresso bean with 5mg of THC and see how that works for you. \n\nmark\n_____________________\nWe have a number of questions on sex and cannabis that have been answered by doctors and experts in the community. A study done by the Reproductive Biology Research Foundation and the Missouri Clinical and Biochemical Laboratory found that marijuana does have an impact on testosterone production. Another study done by Harvard Medical School-McLean Hospital found that marijuana did have an effect on testosterone but not a significant one. Keep in mind that these studies were done in cases where marijuana was used for recreational purposes. Individuals using for medical purposes may not experience these same effects.
