At many shops, the flower selection can be pretty overwhelming. With 20+ strains it can be difficult to decide which one is best for you. That's where I think brands can be helpful. Both THC, and CBD can be helpful for pain, and you can experiment with different combinations to find the best effect for your purpose.\n\nIf you have never used cannabis before, I would suggest that you start with a high CBD strain, or a tincture formulated for high CBD (which is generally non-psychoactive) and increase with moderate amounts of THC compounds gradually. You may find that the CBD heavy formulations remove your pain without the need for THC, or you may find that adding THC adds to the effect. However this will also affect your ability to work, or drive for example, so its also depends on what else is going on in your life at that moment. \n\nThere are a lot of options, and each person often reacts slightly differently. \n\nHere are some choices for CBD products you might want to investigate:\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/search/cbd/products\n\nmark","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11493-markdown","title":"How can I avoid cotton mouth? ","slug":"how-can-i-avoid-cotton-mouth","content":"\"Are there certain strains I can purchase that won't give me this terrible side effect? I enjoy vaping before bed each night, but I can't stand the dry mouth that typically follows.\"\n_____________________\nI am not a doctor, but I know that this is a very common experience. It is also one of the only known health hazards of smoking or vaping cannabis over a long period of time. The cotton mouth you refer to actually can lead to gum disease which eventually leads to periodontal disease ie the loss of teeth!\n\nThe reason you get the cotton mouth is due to the endocannabinoid system in your body and the series of cannabinoid receptors known as CB1 and CB2 receptors. When you ingest marijuana it binds to both of these receptors which play a part in the production of saliva. Your body is basically being told to stop producing the right amount of saliva as the message becomes blocked, I like to think of it as a numbing agent to the parasympathetic nervous system.\n\nUnfortunately, there is no cure all for cotton mouth. It is suggested that if this effects you often that you drink a lot more water during the day as your body could also be combatting dehydration which is made worse by vaping. Also, it is advised to avoid all things sugary such as sodas or sweets before bed. Some people say that sucking on a hard candy when you get cotton mouth is a great idea, but, I think this is not such a good idea as it's sugary.\n\nPersonally, I find that if i decrease my THC intake to a minimum I do not get cotton mouth. One suggestion would be to try a high CBD strain and see if that relaxes you enough before bed, in lieu of a high THC strain.\n\nI hope this helps!\n\npamelahadfield","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11481-markdown","title":"Do you have a favorite strain for migraines?","slug":"do-you-have-a-favorite-strain-for-migraines","content":"\n_____________________\nHigh CBD for sure. Try and get some Harlequin Cannatonic or ACDC. These are good high CBD strains that aren't packed with thc, so it's a more functional high.\n\ncannabear\n_____________________\nThe strain that will work best for treating your migraines depends on a number of factors - at what point in the migraine are you trying to treat it? What results are you going for (being able to sleep pain free, being able to go about your day, etc)? Finding the right strain(s) will take some experimentation, and here is a place to start. \n\nFor prevention of migraines I'd suggest a high CBD strain or product. Taking a high CBD tincture can help alleviate inflammation, tension, and stress in general. Massaging your neck, temples, or other tense areas with a cannabis topical can also help keep things relaxed. \n\nAt the onset of a migraine I'd suggest a higher CBD stain to try and fend it off. Harlequin is a popular high-CBD strain and the psychoactive effects are minimal. \n\nIf you're okay with some psychoactive effect, Blue Dream is a good daytime hybrid strain that should keep you up and moving while providing some pain relief. \n\nIf you've reached the point where the migraine has set in and you're experiencing extreme pain and nausea, a stronger strain such as Girl Scout Cookies can help provide a solid dose of pain relief. Or, if you're looking to knock yourself out until the migraine passes, you could try Lemon OG Kush - a strain patients report is great for sleep.\n\nandrea13","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11471-markdown","title":"OG Kush made me tired, Tropicana was better, is there a strain similar to Tropicana? I've noticed that some strains of THC actually increase my clenching and pain but others seem to help. I'll obviously keep experimenting to find what might work for me, but where does the science suggest I should start to look for TMJ relief? Which strains have muscle-relaxing qualities? Anxiety-reducing qualities? ..etc\"\n_____________________\nits sativa that makes tmj/anxiety worse. cant even play with hybrids, got to get STRONG INDICA's ONLY! been doin this for 30 yrs now, I know! kief, wax, shatter are best/strongest forms. strains can vary. smoking in a EASY/CLEAR hitting 1 inch round bong seems to be best. bowls/joints strain tmj muscles with lips in kissing motion.\n\nclintk9\n_____________________\nAs a patient with TMJ, I highly recommend considering fast-acting CBD-rich medications to mitigate your pain and decrease clenching. Generally speaking, an even balance of CBD to THC provides the strongest analgesic effects but the \"side effects\" of psychoactivity are not acceptable for all patients so it depends on your individual needs. As well as being an analgesic and an inflammation fighter, CBD is also an anti-anxiety agent and an anti-spasmodic. The tightness, clenching, and pain should be relieved by all of these properties - to some extent at least. Ingesting liquid tincture medications directly under the tongue (a sublingual dose) will provide the fastest therapeutic effects and is also discreet.\n\njessicapeters\n_____________________\nI have found that a combination of meds is effective for my TMJ. Inhaling 1:1 CBD:THC strains has helped tremendously, but the most annoying thing about TMJ is the acute pain that will not leave your jaw at those moments where you can't sleep, are at work, etc. I have found that topicals are very effective and defeating the pain in my jaw, while the 1:1 strains really help the muscles relax on the whole.\n\nryan","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11440-markdown","title":"There are so many strains of cannabis on the market, what should I look for when buying flower?","slug":"there-are-so-many-strains-of-cannabis-on-the-market-what-should-i-look-for-when-buying-flower","content":"\n_____________________\nThe strain suggestion depends on what you are looking for as each strain has different attributes. I would determine what you are looking for in your strain. Do you want it to give you an energy boost? Do you want to relax? As most doctors prescribe prescription drugs, it seems like this is a more natural way of finding relief. I myself use high CBD tinctures which seem to help alleviate the symptoms, which for me manifest in my legs.\r\n\r\nIf you are interested in trying a high CBD strain you can go for Harlequin, ACDC, Charlotte's Web or the new Bloom Farms vape cartridge I love which is called Elctra-Tsu. Another good one is Harley-Tsu. The strains above either have zero to some % of THC within them but are all high in CBD which is an analgesic and anti inflammatory cannabinoid. It also happens to be non psychoactive which is great for everyday use.\r\n\r\nSome strains that have been listed as being effective for fibromyalgia which are higher in THC are:\r\nBlue Dream, Cannatonic, Blueberry and Super Skunk\r\n\r\nI am not a doctor and this represents my opinion only. As cannabis is different for everyone, it may require some experimentation with both strains and different products to find what works for you. Commonplace remedies include, but aren't limited to, talk therapy, stress reduction, and the like. Following along the lines of the symptoms and suggested remedies the goal is to relieve the soreness and fatigue that Fibromyalgia causes. With this in mind the best strains we recommend for Fibromyalgia would be Indica dominant strains for experience medical marijuana users or CBD for those without medical marijuana experiences. Indica strains we consistently carry that would be ideal for Fibromyalgia include: Grape Ape, Key Lime Pie, Purple Urkle, and Fruity Pebbles. Recommended CBD strains would be: Harlequin.\n\ngreendoorwest\n_____________________\nI live in south Carolina. Would i be able to get help with my fybromyalgia. Some patients are also juicing raw cannabis leaves and drinking the juice, which is full of anti-oxidants and nutrients.\n\nandrewvanmd\n_____________________\nI just thought I would pass on a quote from the CNN website I found quite some time ago and found it interesting that most doctors do not know this information.\n\n“A study has linked vitamin D deficiency with an increased risk for cancer and autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, MS, and lupus.
