First used in form of tincture (no real effect...does it take time to build up?) then I tried a couple edibles (dizzy, nauseous, felt like chest compressing) and still needing to follow up with pharmaceuticals to sleep. Any suggestions? (Not a smoker, though) Would love to get off pharmaceuticals! \"\n_____________________\nTinctures should work to help you get to sleep. It is possible you did not use enough, the tincture was too low a dose, or you used it improperly. Absolute Extracts makes a great indica tincture spray that you hold in your mouth for 1 minute to help you sleep. I have a friend who swears by it.\n\nryan\n_____________________\nTry items like edibles with a slightly lower amount of THC and perhaps some CBN; these two cannabinoids working together have helped many pts sleep. Also, here's a little trick that might also work for you tincture-wise; instead of just using it sublingually (under the tongue) try it in a nice soothing warm non-caffeinated tea like chamomile and put the tincture drops there and drink it slowly. I hope these help! Don't forget to review general sleep hygiene/ prep tips for sleep at SleepAssociation.org & SleepFoundation.org, continue to exercise daily if possible.\n\ndrpark","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7259-markdown","title":"Iplay or NFL..their test for THC is >35 ng/ml. I am not a doctor and I do not know how this translates into your body and then into the test. I would guess that such a small amount would not affect the test, but those tolerances look pretty tight and when you think about the conversion I think it may be risky to place your career on those numbers. So in answer to your question, once you are approved by a doctor to use cannabis for your medical concerns, you are able to use any type of cannabis product - with THC and CBD and anything else in-between. \n\nMost cannabis products tend to have THC in them, even the high CBD ones. The reason is that the cannabinoids work together to create their effect. Therefore, even if you are looking for a high CBD product, you may still want to have a small amount of THC in it to create what is know as the 'entourage effect'. Besides THC and CHD, there are lots of other cannabinoids that also work together to create this effect.\n\nmark","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7154-markdown","title":"Remicade and Cannabis interactions.","slug":"remicade-and-cannabis-interactions","content":"\"Hello, my mother has a rare form of sarcoidosis in her spine. The virus has greatly weakened her ability to use her legs and get around, along with causing great pain. She is currently on a regimen of Remicade infusions, as well as taking Micophenilate. I am very interested in having her try a CBD tincture, as I have read that doctors are finding success using CBD to treat inflammation and nerve damage, which she has. I want to make sure that Cannabis won't negatively interact with the medications she's on. Does anyone have any experience with this? Also, it seems like a 3:1 CBD to THC ratio would be best for her condition. Does anyone have a different recommendation? Thank you so much. \"\n_____________________\nCannabis is an extremely safe herb with no toxic effects or overdose potential. It should not interfere with the the Remicade infusions. I would try very high doses of CBD (with some amount of THC), as this will provide anti-inflammatory effects. Sarcoidosis is an auto-inflammatory condition, it is not caused by a virus. Minimizing inflammation is key.\n\nandrewvanmd","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7116-markdown","title":"Terra bites are not equal in size, do they all contains the same amount of THC (5mg) per bite?","slug":"terra-bites-are-not-equal-in-size-do-they-all-contains-the-same-amount-of-thc-5mg-per-bite","content":"\n_____________________\nThat is a great question. Kiva goes to a lot of effort to make sure that all Terra Bites are approximately the same size (and therefore dose). However, you are correct, that despite their efforts, not all of them are the same size, and therefore your assumption is also correct. They all contain approximately 5mg per bite, but not exactly. The cannabis is infused into the chocolate (not the espresso bean) and so more chocolate does mean a larger dose.\n\nFortunately it's also pretty easy to see which are larger and which are smaller, and so you can compensate yourself if you are careful in your selection.\n\nmark","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7111-markdown","title":"What is the ratio of CBD to THC I should use to start treatment for autism?","slug":"what-is-the-ratio-of-cbd-to-thc-i-should-use-to-start-treatment-for-autism","content":"\n_____________________\nThe CBD to THC ratio is an important factor when choosing a cannabis strain or product. However it is not the only parameter, as other components of the plant will also contribute to the unique effects. Depending on the patient and their lifestyle, many different strains of cannabis and products would be appropriate. Many patients start by trying a high CBD ratio (30:1 or 20:1) and adjust the ratio depending on the effects. Each individual patient is unique and the best method is to experiement and \"be your own doctor\", and decide what works best through the process of trial and error.\n\nandrewvanmd","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7082-markdown","title":"Is there a way to come \"out of your head\" faster if you've vaped or consumed too much THC?","slug":"is-there-a-way-to-come-out-of-your-head-faster-if-youve-vaped-or-consumed-too-much-thc","content":"\n_____________________\nImportant part is to stay relaxed and not panic. The feeling of consuming too much THC should subside within 2-3 hours. Drinking water and eating food can also help return you to a more comfortable state of mind.\n\nBartSmart\n_____________________\nIn these cases a CBD strain is your best friend. CBD has been shown to reduce psychosis, which can be caused by consuming THC. When these unpleasant mental effects begin as a result of consuming too much THC, using a CBD strain will reduce your anxiety, calm your nervous system, and make those panicky/flighty feelings subside. It will also help you to fall asleep, which is usually the best course of action when too much THC is involved.\n\nryan\n_____________________\nThe best thing is to go to bed, turn the lights low and enjoy the ride. The problem starts when people start to panic or get agitated. \n\nApparently taking CBD will balance out the THC, but I am never in a mind to consume more of anything if I have had too much THC. Usually after no more than an hour or two, things will settle down for you.\n\nUltimately, just be aware of how much you are consuming, especially with edibles since they take longer to cause effect, and longer to go away. Most people should start with 5mg or less, and work their way up from there in 5mg increments. My regular dose is about 15 mg. Never more than 30 mg.\n\nmark\n_____________________\nIn addition to the CBD....Black Pepper: keep some peppercorns on hand and crunch on a few! Combining the terpenoids (such as beta caryophyllene and pinene ) in pepper with the tetrahydrocannabinol in cannabis has a synergistic chemical reaction on the cannabinoid receptors in the brain. In layman’s terms, they both bind to the same receptors in the brain and, when combined, have a therapeutic, calming effect.Lemon peel- contains the terpene called limonene, which works on anxiety and calms.\n\nPiantaTinta","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7078-markdown","title":"Unsure about CBD dosages and how to gauge what effect it's having. I want to follow up and ask what are you taking before I try and help suggest what to do. It will be helpful to know if you are trying tinctures, or flowers, or pills etc. and what ratios they are. My answer will depend heavily on what medicines you have tried that have left you feeling this way.\n\nI will also say that anxiety is a very motivating emotion that causes people to act on a situation. As your anxiety drops with the CBD, you may feel less on edge and have a less of a drive to immediately react to situations as a result of adjusting to your reduced levels of anxiety.\n\nryan","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7077-markdown","title":"Is the THC-A in the trichomes decarboxylated to THC? This “high” is from the cannabinoid THC, of which little if any is found when cannabis is growing or recently harvested.\n\nDecarboxylation is a chemical reaction that releases carbon dioxide (CO2). This means a chemical reaction takes place in which carboxylic acids loose a carbon atom from a carbon chain. This process converts THCA to THC, the much loved compound with many medicinal and psychoactive effects. When the cannabis drys, it very very slowly begins to decarboxylate and converts THCA to THC.\n\ntheslumpyman\n_____________________\nVery good question! We do decarboxylate some THC-A into THC for the strong analgesic/pain management effects. However, we also add a portion of THC-A for its anti-inflammatory effects, amongst many others.
