Would an over the counter antihistamine help or might it be true that he is allergic to it and should stop taking it?\"\n_____________________\nIt is hard to say what may be occurring. Patients who are allergic to drugs do not usually get nasal congestion. Nasal congestion usually occurs more from seasonal allergies such as pollen. The hives could be related to a new virus that he is acquiring, a drug that he is taking, a topical that was applied or the cancer itself. If he has been taking the cannabis for some time now it is unlikely related and you should contact your oncologist.\n\ndrb","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11499-markdown","title":"After taking any medical marijuana I feel relaxed and can't work. What I am looking for is something that will make me productive on the day time. I appreciate your recommendations.\"\n_____________________\nCannabis contains a variety of lesser known cannabinoids besides CBD and THC. One of these lesser known cannabinoids is called CBN. CBN is responsible for a lot of the sedative effects of cannabis commonly referred to as \"couch lock.\"\n\nUnlike most of the other active cannabinoids, CBN is actually a degraded form of THC. Exposure to things like sunlight and air will cause the THC to degrade to CBN so cannabis flower that is old or has been handled a lot will probably have higher CBN content regardless of genetics (i.e. indica vs sativa). The higher CBN content will also be present in extracts made from the same flower.\n\nIn the future, always check the full cannabinoid profile whenever possible and avoid products with elevated CBN levels. A good rule of thumb is anything over 0.5% CBN will probably produce more noticeable sedative effects, so you will want to avoid that during the day when it's time to be productive.\n\n(On the other hand, although high THC can help you feel sleepy, it actually interferes with deep REM sleep. In this situation CBN can be very helpful as it produces a similar sedative effect to function as a sleep-aid, while interfering less with the critical part of your sleep cycle so you wake up feeling more well-rested.)\n\nbenson\n_____________________\nI am not a doctor, but I can relay my personal experience with this. Everyone is different and everyone metabolizes cannabis differently, so there is no one size fits all. My own experience has been that some products if I use them during the day render me useless, and unable to work. Other products seem to work fine. So continuing to experiment may be the way to go. It also depends on what you are trying to treat and if you need high levels of either CBD or THC to find relief, daytime use may never be in the cards for you.\n\nThat said, the way i treat pain and also symptom reduction, is via micro dosing throughout the day. Micro dosing means that i take less more often. I wrote a post on this awhile ago and people seemed to respond very well to it.\n\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/micro-dosing-cannabis-stopped-my-chronic-pain\n\nThis represents my opinion and my experience only. Usually this is shown on a label as 1:1.\n\nThis is evry dependent on what you are trying to treat. If it is anxiety and you don't want any psychoactivity, you may want a 4:1 ratio or even higher. 1:1 is often psychoactive but it definitely will treat a variety of pain effectively! I always say go 'low and slow' meaning you take the minimum dosage to start and work up from there. A tinctures effects will be felt in around 20 minutes.\n\nI just purchased the Moxie Meds tincture and love it, this comes in 4:1 and 1:1. As a fellow non-veteran woman with PTSD, I've also found I had easier access to pharmaceuticals than to therapy and I understand your frustrations. It's also difficult to find a medication only temporarily successful. While it's unclear to me what ratio of high CBD medication you tried first, and what the small increase of THC equated to in terms of ratio, I suggest trying something in the range of 4:1 - 1:1. Unless of course you have a very low tolerance to THC, in which case you might want to stick to 4:1 or above and stay at a low dose initially. We find that it's very worthwhile to try a couple different CBD rich medications with a bit of range on the ratios so that you can assess what may work best for you. This can be costly and it's worthwhile to take advantage of sampling events, sales, free gifts and donations where you can.\n\nYou bring up a very good point about how many patients have to troubleshoot before they find what ratio, dose, and delivery system works best for them. It's also important to consider that your dosing needs can potentially change over time as you develop a tolerance or as your body and wellness experiences change. I encourage patients not to give up and to work with advocacy organizations to request medications providers, dispensaries, and delivery services to offer more free samples so this process doesn't become financially taxing for those who are on a fixed income.\n\nWe also find a lot of benefit to taking notes of your experiences with various cannabis medications so that you can better suss out which options may be most effective for you in the long run. This \"note taking\" may also include your experiences with pharmaceutical medications as well as diet, exercise, and other natural medicine modalities - it's all about allowing you, and any caregivers or health practitioners you engage with, a full picture of your experience with wellness and health.\n\njessicapeters\n_____________________\nWe are sorry to hear of your challenges. Generally speaking, an even balance of CBD to THC provides the strongest analgesic effects but the \"side effects\" of psychoactivity are not acceptable for all patients so it depends on your individual needs. As well as being an analgesic and an inflammation fighter, CBD is also an anti-anxiety agent and an anti-spasmodic. The tightness, clenching, and pain should be relieved by all of these properties - to some extent at least. Ingesting liquid tincture medications directly under the tongue (a sublingual dose) will provide the fastest therapeutic effects and is also discreet.\n\njessicapeters\n_____________________\nI have found that a combination of meds is effective for my TMJ. Inhaling 1:1 CBD:THC strains has helped tremendously, but the most annoying thing about TMJ is the acute pain that will not leave your jaw at those moments where you can't sleep, are at work, etc. I have found that topicals are very effective and defeating the pain in my jaw, while the 1:1 strains really help the muscles relax on the whole.\n\nryan","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11446-markdown","title":"CBD versus THC?
