The idea is to heat up the material enough to release the desired compounds (cannabinoids, terpenes) into a gas form, without causing combustion of the undesirable compounds. Excessive heat from combustion can also destroy some of the cannabinoids and terpenes. \nMedicalJane has an excellent article on vaporizing here...\nhttps://www.medicaljane.com/category/cannabis-classroom/consuming-cannabis/vaporization/#types-of-vaporizers\nThey note that a joint can burn as hot as 2,000 degrees F!\n\nandrewvanmd","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6958-markdown","title":"I use capsules & tinctures of CBD, I have tried to Vape but the next morning I am coughing up phlegm.","slug":"i-use-capsules-tinctures-of-cbd-i-have-tried-to-vape-but-the-next-morning-i-am-coughing-up-phlegm","content":"\n_____________________\nTo me it sounds like you're doing larger hits when you vape and you maybe holding the medicine in, instead of blowing it right out....\nChange things up a bit and do very small hits, blowing right out and I think your lungs will be much happier..... When you smoke the plant gets burnt and you inhale the combustion which is bad for your lungs. In the case of vaping the plant is being heat up and what goes in your lungs is the vapor not the smoke, hence the name-vaporizers.\nhttps://www.gotvape.com/vaporizer-blog/vaping-vs-smoking/\n\nsofi\n_____________________\nThis video answer hits the nail on the head! For some reason I am not responding to anything I have smoke with a ceramic vaporizer or with any of the vape pens from W vapes, Bhang and Jetty. And yes I have tried the top strains for pain mgmt and have not gotten any relief. I even tried Girl Scouts and some other various strains with various THC strengths and I don't respond not even with a slight buzz. My friends think it's from being on such strong Rx's for so long. It has been recommended I try oil. There seems to be lots of different schools of thought on it. Especially the RSO since it's hemp vs cannabis and the different cannabinoids. After having spent so much money on trying so many different strains I can't afford to play the guessing game with the oils especially after trying various weed strains and getting no relief or even a buzz from those with THC in them. I have researched oils and even looked at menus in an effort to learn more but it seems focused on making your own oil than what oils are out there and what the options are and results. Even with the RSO all about making your own and then you have the hemp vs cannabinoid issue of effectiveness. I've gotten very frustrated and spent close to $500 in all these various experiments so I am seeking guidance/advice. \"\n_____________________\nThc is absorbed through the body so much differently than prescription medication that I don't think that's going to be your problem. My aunt who has been on everything from morphine to Oxy for her health issues reacted veryyy well with a relatively low dose of an edible. Your issue is most likely dosing. I take cannabis to manage pain from a bulging disc in my neck that's running a nerve and it does so well for nerve pain, but you have to make sure to take enough. I find smoking the easiest way to dose... because if you aren't getting your relief quickly, you can always go back outside and smoke a few more drags and see how you feel then. If You smoke enough of a solid thc rich strain, you will literally be in deep sleep within half an hour! Unless for whatever reason your body doesn't metabolize thc.. and that's rare. That being said, make sure you're using good meds, take your time in finding your dose, and keep trying until you do so!\n\ncannabear","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6935-markdown","title":"when vaping my voice gets hoarse what can i do to stop this","slug":"when-vaping-my-voice-gets-hoarse-what-can-i-do-to-stop-this","content":"\n_____________________\nTry switching to vegetable glycerin bases vs propylene glycol bases, drink more water, try unflavored e-liquids, and make sure your vape is not producing too much heat.\n\ndrb","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6920-markdown","title":"How does the hmbldt dose pen work?","slug":"how-does-the-hmbldt-dose-pen-work","content":"\"It looks different than other vape pens I've seen on the market.\"\n_____________________\nThe hmbldt dose pen was custom designed to deliver our need state formulations in a specific and repeatable way. Constructed using medical grade components and a specially designed microprocessor, a patient using the dose pen simply inhales from the end of the dose pen containing the window and the vaporization process is activated. After three seconds, a slight vibration indicates that the dose is complete. By carefully limiting the time of vaporization, controlling the temperature ramp of the vaporization coil, metering the airflow from inhalation and maintaining a consistent flow of our need state formulated oil to the vaporization element the device is able to deliver a repeatable dose to the patient on each activation. After 200 complete doses, the dose pen can then be recycled at one of our dispensary or delivery service partners to receive a $5 discount on their next hmbldt dose pen purchase.\n\njeremygreen","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6904-markdown","title":"Is popcorn lung related to vaping?","slug":"is-popcorn-lung-related-to-vaping","content":"\"It feels like when using a vape PEN, I have much worse respiratory reactions - like severe coughing, wheezing, tightness of the chest, shortening of breath, \"popping\" or crackling sounds while breathing, and a few other symptoms. it seems less so with a water pipe, and I've recently read about 'popcorn lung' being related to vape pens. Is there any research or are there any experts who are looking into it?\"\n_____________________\nCan you give us any more history? Are you a smoker or have been in the past? How many years have you been using a water pipe? Are there any other associated symptoms? (i.e. night sweats, fevers) The term \"popcorn lung\" is formally know in medicine as a condition called bronchilitis obliterans. In the literature, the causative agent is thought to be an additive known as diacetyl. From what I've looked up, this agent is more found in e-cigarettes because it is a flavoring agent. I can't speak for vape-pens because I need to do more research on the subject but I know that more and more companies are self-regulating their products because of concerns of this nature. \nA few more points; \"popcorn lung\" has so many other features related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) which includes obstructive asthma and emphysema. My advice? Stop inhalation products altogether and see an MD, maybe consider a chest x-ray. ","slug":"what-are-vape-oils-made-of","content":"\n_____________________\nVaporizer oils are traditionally made of cannabis oils that were extracted using a supercritical CO2 extraction. Some are made with specialty butane (and other) extractions, but this is generally rarer. Some oils are pure or very close to pure, while others are cut with liquids commonly used in e-cigarettes to thin out the otherwise un-vapeable consistency (Vegetable glycol and propylene glycol, though vegetable is more popular). Some oils have terpenes added back into the oil that were lost during the extraction, while others leave things untouched. Others add flavors with the terpenes, like banana smoothie (thanks KURVANA!), or even make special blends dedicated to certain ailments. HMBLT is a great example of an ailment specific vaporizer.\n\nryan\n_____________________\nVape Oils, typically found in the \"concentrates\" portion of a dispensary's menu, are made from concentrated cannabis oils. They are created by extracting and straining away the cannabinoids from the cannabis plant using either a solvent-less extraction method or a solvent, such as CO2 or alcohol. There is no plant matter in the oil concentrates, nor is there much terpenes left if any. Concentrates, as its name suggest, have a much higher THC or CBD content than the raw flower, up to 80% pure THC as opposed to 15-30% in flowers. Buyers shouold be aware that not all oils are created equal! For most brands out there the process of extratcting oil hardly ever starts with the most prisitine flowers. Less desirable raw materials are typically used for the manufacturing of oil with a focus on profit rather than quality. Make sure to research your vape oil carefully or source it only from a trusted dsipsensary who took the time to do the research for you! \r\nAt Green Door West we strictly offer vape oils which have been derived from the purest part of the cannabis flowers, such as the GoldCart and PureGold Squeeze Tube. \n\ngreendoorwest\n_____________________\nLike the other answers confirm, vape oil is a concentrated cannabis/hemp oil. CBD oil can be easily vaped. We agree with @greendoorwest that not oils are the same. Our organic \"Respira\" oil is a versatile, multi-use product made from the whole plant, and is a full spectrum cannabidiol tincture. There are no harmful ingredients like (PG, PEG) and it's an all natural product. \r\n\n\nelixinol","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6864-markdown","title":"Vaping oil vs flowers - what are the health effects of each to the lungs?","slug":"vaping-oil-vs-flowers-what-are-the-health-effects-of-each-to-the-lungs","content":"\n_____________________\nI would not divide “lung health” in concentrated oil vs flower vaped categories. Instead I would consider the differences of flower vs oil, and the differences between CBD and THC. For instance, whole flower gives a benefit of enhanced taste of terpenes while inhaling, but with a decreased potency (10-25%). Think of a whole flower, as a whole strawberry, and concentrated oils as just the vitamin C. There are probably more health benefits in a whole strawberry than just vitamin C. We just may not be aware of them. Concentrated oils, on the other hand, are more potent (50-90%) of the ingredient you are trying to have a benefit from.\nFor lung health, I would also take in consideration the actual type of cannabis. For instance, high THC products and terpenes that are added such as alpha-pinene (think fragrance of pine trees and rosemary) are both strong bronchodilators that open the lungs; whereas high CBD products are used to decrease chronic inflammation found in diseases such as asthma, and COPD that prevent the lungs from opening in the first place.\n\ndrb","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6839-markdown","title":"I don't feel anything","slug":"i-dont-feel-anything","content":"\"I recently started vaping Satvia to feel better during the day with my depression. However it is not without its pitfalls. Devices for vaporization are of variable quality, as are the substances being vaporized. I would enlist the help of an experienced friend who should be able to tell if your inhalations are sufficient and large enough to have a medicinal effect. You may also want to try a whole plant sublingual tincture. No inhalation or devices are required.
