Excoriation is a form of OCD (where I pick my skin) and it is recommended to take antidepression or antianxiety medicine. I really do not want to go on medication, and I was wondering if anyone had experience with this and takes CBD? Im not sure the best way to take it or how much. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.\"
\n
\n
Hi there!\nTwo case reports submitted to The American Journal of Psychology described two patients with treatment-resistant OCD who responded to an augmentation of their medications with dronabinol (Marinol, synthetic THC).
\n
The first patient was a 38-year-old woman with recurrent major depression and severe OCD, who was treated with the SSRI, Paxil and cognitive behavioral therapy; when unsuccessful, she was switched to clomipramine (a tricyclic antidepressant) which elicited a partial response; 2.5mg of Marinol, three times/day was then added to the clomipramine she was taking. After 10 days of treatment, the patient's OCD symptoms were significantly reduced—Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive scale prior to treatment was 20, post-treatment the score was 10.
\n
The second patient was a 36-year-old man with schizophrenia and severe OCD. He was treated with several antipsychotics and SSRIs, his OCD symptoms did not respond. He was switched to clomipramine, followed by 18 (!) rounds of electroconvulsive therapy—still, not much improvement. The patient was then given 2.5mg of Marinol once/day in order to prevent an exacerbation of his psychosis (schizophrenic), which was then increased to 2.5mg of Marinol twice/day. His Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale score was reduced from 23 to 15.\nhttps://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/doi/full/10.1176/appi.ajp.2007.07061016
\n
drkim
\n
\n
In order to mimic the above treatment protocols, I recommend Petra Mints, which, like the protocols above, contain 2.5mg of THC each.\nTake one mint two to three times/day.\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/products/5859dbd3eafa6f00086850ae/petra-mints
\n
I hope this helps!
\n
drkim
","timeToRead":2}},"defaultImage":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/jpeg;base64,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","aspectRatio":1.5,"src":"/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/a07a5/question-default-image.jpg","srcSet":"/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/decd9/question-default-image.jpg 150w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/15aed/question-default-image.jpg 300w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/a07a5/question-default-image.jpg 600w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/701ee/question-default-image.jpg 800w","srcWebp":"/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/483a3/question-default-image.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/e8bcc/question-default-image.webp 150w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/4fec1/question-default-image.webp 300w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/483a3/question-default-image.webp 600w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/2ad7f/question-default-image.webp 800w","sizes":"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px"}}}},"pageContext":{"id":12284,"slug":"excoriation-disorder","country":"US"}},"staticQueryHashes":["3949754563","4179947113","4202924991"]}
