The company began with the idea of bringing joy to women's lives through artfully designed and carefully curated cannabis products. \n\nFounder Erin Gore has a deep history in the wine industry and a love of cannabis. She felt it was a natural next step to move into the cannabis industry. With a background steeped in deep science she quickly became fluent in cannabis science and production. Her Co-Founder, Karli Warner, is also from the wine industry. Karli matches Erin's passion for marijuana and brings rich experience with public relations and marketing to the company. \n\nThe two women have cut serious business chops, leading their company through the rocky transition to recreational cannabis in California and not only surviving but thriving. They recently closed a [$7 million dollar funding round](https://www.forbes.com/sites/jacquelinebryant/2022/01/11/wine-country-cannabis-brand-garden-society-closes-7-million-in-series-a-funding/amp/) for their Series A round.\n\n### Review: Sparkling Strawberry Rose Gummies by Garden Society \n\n![The Sparkling Strawberry Rose Gummy by Garden Society](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Screen_Shot_2022_01_25_at_2_01_47_PM_b22543596d.png)\n\nAfter learning about Garden Society, and the new release of their marijuana-infused gummies, I was keen to get my hands on them!\n\nLooking on the [Garden Society website](https://thegardensociety.com/where-to-buy/), I was able to see that [Jane Dispensary](https://janedispensary.com/armorymenu/?dtche%5Bproduct%5D=calm-focus-high-cbd-sparkling-strawberry-rose-gummies-20-pack) near me in Santa Rosa, California carries the [Sparkling Strawberry Rosé Gummies](https://thegardensociety.com/product/sparkling-strawberry-rose/). Each gummy contains 1mg of THC and 5mg of CBD, a nice ratio for anyone who might want to consume cannabis during a regular day. At $15 for 20 gummies, I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price point. \n\n![Garden Society has launched a new line of cannabis gummies inspired by wine country](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Screen_Shot_2022_01_25_at_2_12_28_PM_146f6acd90.png)\n\n\nThe packaging is a soft pink with beautiful graphics and feels like a \"real\" brand - a far cry from the saran wrapped brownie of yesteryear! I noted the \"rapid effect\" wording in the upper left-hand corner of the package, which I don't often think of when [consuming edibles](https://hellomd.com/articles/what-to-know-about-edibles-infused-with-cannabis). Tearing open the bag, I grabbed a single, rose-colored gummy. Holding it in my hand, the edible looked like a small rosette! \n\nI'm a huge fan of CBD and enjoy using it to [supplement any stress](https://hellomd.com/articles/how-cbd-can-improve-your-emotional-well-being) or pain I may be feeling. I popped the rosé gummy in my mouth and enoyed the juicy flavors of strawberry, with a fruity undertone of sparkling rosé . In about 15 minutes I began to feel a calming effect wash over me. Within 30 minutes (and another gummy!), I felt significantly more relaxed. My muscles were loose, and I could feel myself vibrating to a slower, more calming beat. \n\nI opened my book and spent the afternoon reading, and I hadn't read so intently in some time. \n\nIf you're feeling lethargic, less intentional in daily tasks, or simply looking to escape for an afternoon — I would highly recommend trying **Garden Society's Rosé Gummies**. The same qualities that make cannabis a great medication for a variety of conditions can also lead people to feel anxious, uncomfortable and even paranoid. Cannabis has a biphasic effect, meaning low and high doses of marijuana can have very different effects on people. In small doses, cannabis can help reduce stress and anxiety related to conditions like PTSD. But in high doses, it can lead people to feel extremely anxious, uneasy and nervous. \n\nMaureen Dowd, a well-known _New York Times_ columnist, is now infamous for her [marijuana trip down the anxiety-laced rabbit hole](http://www.forbes.com/sites/daviddisalvo/2014/06/09/why-eating-a-marijuana-candy-bar-sent-maureen-dowd-to-paranoia-hell/#5e15f4c93e65). Dowd bought a cannabis-infused chocolate bar from a Denver dispensary in 2014 and had a most unfortunate experience after consuming the majority of the chocolate.\n\nIt's important to note that the chocolate bar she consumed was intended to have 16 individual doses, but she gobbled it all up, which led to her paralyzingly paranoid experience. Dowd wrote about her living-personal-hell experience; it went insanely viral online, and she got lambasted publicly for her stupidity.\n\n\n_Dowd's bad experience with marijuana made her an internet sensation._\n\nYet, Dowd's experience basically comes down to a lack of education. She was unaware of:\n\n* how much to take\n* how long to wait before consuming more\n* what to do if she had a bad experience\n\nThese are all things that people should be aware of before consuming marijuana.\n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\n\nCannabis-induced anxiety can echo traditional physical stressors that are experienced by people when they have anxiety attacks. Symptoms like a racing heartbeat, sweating, chills, chest pain, weakness, tingling, numbness and trouble breathing are all physical symptoms of marijuana-induced anxiety. They're harmless, but they can be scary at the time they're experienced. Feeling these physical symptoms can also cause a person to panic, even though they're in no real harm. There has still never been a documented overdose death due to marijuana. \n \nIf you're trying a higher dose of cannabis than you usually take, prepare for the chance that you may experience cannabis-induced anxiety by consuming your marijuana in a safe space with people you trust.\n\n### Tips on How to Manage Your Cannabis-Induced Panic Attack\n\nThe most important thing to remember when experiencing a cannabis-induced anxiety attack is to stay calm if you may feel completely out of control. Keeping calm can help anxiety pass more quickly. Keeping a high-ratio cannabidiol (CBD) tincture on hand is also helpful as it can typically help take the edge off much more quickly. \n\nFor many, CBD, a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, can help decrease the anxiety-producing, psychoactive effects of the THC found in marijuana. Perhaps if Dowd had had some handy, she may have been able to circumvent some of her paranoia hell. What's most important though is to remember that most of the time, less is more, especially for first-time cannabis consumers. \n\nRemember: You can't overdose from marijuana, even if it feels like it at the time of an anxiety attack. Cannabis-induced anxiety doesn't last long, usually 30 minutes to an hour. However, this does depend on the person and how much and what you've consumed.\n\nIn Maureen Dowd's case, she probably felt out of it for 24 hours based on the extremely high dose she took. In most cases though, if you're experiencing cannabis-induced anxiety, remind yourself that you're in no real danger and the feeling will pass. \n\nIt's also important to remove yourself from situations that could worsen your anxiety. For example, if you feel like you're unsafe where you are, this will lead to more anxiety. Also, cannabis-induced anxiety can feed off personal stressors, like social situations that may normally make you anxious. \n\nFocusing on self-care can help your anxiety become more bearable. Engage in an activity that helps you relax and feel comfortable through the anxiety you're experiencing. Whatever it is that can help you feel calm and safe will help your anxiety dissipate more quickly. For example, you could:\n\n* Listen to music that makes you happy\n* Watch an episode of a light-hearted or heart-warming TV show\n* Eat your favorite meal\n* Drink a hot cup of tea\n* Settle into your bed \n\nThough cannabis-induced anxiety may feel inevitable at times, it's important to be aware of how different doses of cannabis affect you so you can try to avoid it in the future. If you've tried a new strain or dosage, and realized that it triggered anxious feelings, make note of it so you can avoid that in the future. Some people are particularly vulnerable to cannabis-induced anxiety. But for most people, anxiety is caused by a specific factor from the marijuana dose they consumed. \n\nTry to recognize if the size of the dose was larger than what you typically consume or if it was a different marijuana strain with higher levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that may have caused the problem. Many people find it helpful to keep a journal of their cannabis consumption, so they have a record of what and how much they've consumed.\n\nIf you're new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our [Cannabis 101](https://hellomd.com/tag/cannabis-101/) post. Walking into a typical dispensary, it’s quite common to be advised to purchase a 200 mg bar of chocolate or offered a gummy bear that may be anywhere from 20–50 mg of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).\n\nLuckily, this year we’ve seen the emergence of several new brands and products that have the microdosing cannabis consumer in mind. One of my absolute favorite new brands to hit the market in 2017 is called Satori. This California brand offers a [variety of low-dose chocolate-covered edibles](https://hellomd.com/articles/top-cannabis-brands-that-are-doing-it-right) in 1 mg, 3 mg and 10 mg doses.\n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en) \n\n### Microdosing Marijuana Explained\n\nThe [practice of microdosing marijuana](https://hellomd.com/articles/microdosing-101-cannabis-psilocybin-and-lsd) involves ingesting small amounts of cannabis to create a specific effect. For a medical marijuana consumer, this may be titrating a small amount throughout the day to treat a condition without feeling the effect of being high. For someone not seeking to treat a specific condition, microdosing may be used to produce a sense of well-being, reduce anxiety, focus attention or lift the spirits on a dreary day. Yep, in a nutshell, that’s microdosing.\n\n![Satori’s cannabis-infused chocolate-covered edibles](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/58797273eb7401000b5ac214/embedded_images/58797302f00ad100085798ec/studio3.JPG)\nSatori pairs cannabis and chocolate in these tasty microdosed edibles.\n \nFor me, [microdosing cannabis started as a way to manage chronic pain](https://hellomd.com/articles/microdosing-cannabis-stopped-my-chronic-pain) effectively without feeling the psychoactive high. This worked very well for my chronic migraines and fibromyalgia. Over time however, I noticed that I enjoyed the relaxation and more subtle effects of microdosing. \n\nAfter a stressful day, microdosing a 3 mg cannabis-infused chocolate has a way of taking the edge off, similar to drinking a glass of wine. It should be noted that most people will not feel any noticeable psychoactive effects at around 2.5 mg and will begin to feel psychoactivity at around 5 –10 mg. As everyone is different, there are no hard and fast rules, but this applies to me. \n\nNow, I realize, if you’re an avid cannabis consumer with higher THC tolerances, such a low dosage may seem laughable. For those with lower tolerances though or for anyone who may have had a bad edible experience, this is a perfect way to onramp into the world of cannabis. \n\n### Satori Cannabis Chocolate Review\n\nFor my trial run with [Satori](https://twitter.com/satoriedibles), I chose to consume the 3 mg THC Wild Strawberries in Organic Milk Chocolate. Rather than sitting at home, I decided to test the 420 Games principle that [cannabis and athletics can go hand in hand](https://hellomd.com/articles/the-420-games-celebrates-athletes-healthy-living-and-cannabis.\n\nTo that end, I chose to attend a yoga class at my favorite yoga studio in San Francisco, Yoga Tree Castro, with my good girlfriend Valerie. (Valerie did not consume any cannabis.) I’ve been an avid yoga practitioner for the past 15 years, so I know both my capabilities and limits; I felt confident that 3 mg of THC wouldn’t put my downward dog (or me) in jeopardy. \n\nAs cannabis edibles must first be digested and then metabolized by your liver before entering your bloodstream, it can take up to one to two hours to feel the effects. With that in mind, I decided to consume my 3 mg Satori cannabis chocolate an hour before class time. Sitting in my car after I parked, I grabbed my Satori box. The packaging, which seems to be made out of recycled material, is aesthetically pleasing; it looks like high-quality-granola-meets-the-Whole-Foods-set.\n\n### Seeing Into One’s True Nature With Satori\n\nGoogling the word “Satori,” I came up with this: “The word is derived from the Japanese verb satoru. In the Zen Buddhist tradition, satori refers to the experience of kenshō, \"seeing into one's true nature.” Well, yes, I was feeling pretty good about everything at this point.\n\nOpening the box, I poured a handful of the cannabis chocolates into my palm. One of the first things I noticed was the chocolatey aroma wafting up intermixed with a faint scent of cannabis. I happen to like the smell of cannabis, so for me this was a pleasant experience. The second thing I noticed was that the size of the chocolates vary, and that they appeared to be panned, given the uneven texture. \n\nPanning refers to the practice of tumbling the chocolate over an object, such as a tasty dried strawberry. The only downside to panning with cannabis is that the dosage may vary. This is due to the size of the dried strawberry being panned and the amount of chocolate that actually coats the object. In other words, one strawberry might be 2 mg and another strawberry might be 4 mg. Unperturbed by this fact, I looked over the cannabis chocolates in my hand, chose a middle-sized chocolate-coated strawberry and popped it in my mouth.\n\n### First Impressions: This Is High-Quality Chocolate With a Hint of Cannabis\n\nOh, high-quality chocolate is what immediately entered my mind. Chocolate I want more of (which is somewhat problematic with edibles and requires restraint)! The other taste that came through was an earthy cannabis flavor, although it didn’t overpower the chocolate. The sweetness of the strawberry combined with the chocolate and cannabis flavor was pure bliss and unlike any other marijuana edible I’ve tried to date.\n\nUsually, it seems that manufacturers try to completely negate the cannabis flavor from an edible whereas Satori seems to celebrate it. Now, I would need to wait to feel the effects.\n\n![Cannabis chocolate to enhance my yoga experience](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/58797273eb7401000b5ac214/embedded_images/58797276eb7401000b5ac215/studio2.JPG)\nGetting my zen on with Satori at Yoga Tree Castro in SF. \n\nAn hour later, I unrolled my yoga mat next to Valerie. Soon thereafter, I started to feel the effects of my cannabis-infused chocolate-covered strawberry as I began our first series of vinyasas. I felt a sense of relaxation and a deeper level of awareness within my body as we warmed up.\n\nOne striking difference was the emphasis I felt within my breathing and the sense of breath going to different parts of my body. As any yoga practitioner knows, this is a core tenet of yoga, but is often glossed over within the mind, which tends to wander and hold onto everything except the breath. I didn’t feel stoned; rather, I felt calm, focused and happy.\n\n### Feeling Happy From Satori’s Cannabis-Infused Chocolate-Covered Strawberry\n\nThe last word “happy” is a word I don’t often use when describing cannabis edibles. For the most part, when I take an edible, I notice a general sense of calm, but I also find them extremely useful for sleeping. With the Satori cannabis chocolate, I noticed a significant uptick in both my mood and energy level, which for me is quite unusual for any edible. If Satori could be analagous to something, it might be to the sativa marijuana strain. \n\nAs the class progressed, I went deeper into poses than I might normally go, while at the same time I didn’t feel as if I were stretching past any limitations. With the music going and feeling the flow both within myself and the class, I was really enjoying myself. There was only one point at which I thought better of a pose and stopped myself from doing a forearm stand, an upside-down inversion on the forearms. Considering I was about a foot away from my neighbors on either side, going upside down didn’t seem like it was in anyone’s best interest. \n\nAt the end of the 90-minute class, I was definitely feeling as if I were “seeing into my own true nature” as it were. I was extremely pleased with my experience with Satori’s 3 mg marijuana-spiked chocolate-covered strawberry. This is one cannabis product I plan to keep in heavy rotation and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone. Definitely a keeper.\n\nIf you’re new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our [Cannabis 101](https://hellomd.com/tag/cannabis-101/) post. In a series of upcoming blog posts I will review several new microdosed products that have recently come to the California marketplace, all of which are under 3mg a dose. The products I have selected for review are [Satori Edibles](https://hellomd.com/products/586593fb159af1000c6d05fc/) by CannaCraft, [PetraMints](https://www.hellomd.com/marijuana-edibles/petra-mints-moroccan-mint) by Kiva Confections, and Activation Spray by CannaAthlete. In the coming month I look forward to sharing my experiences with you and I hope you will share your microdosing experiences with me as well. If you are new to microdosing I encourage you to read on.\n\n### What's Microdosing?\n\nWhen people think of consuming cannabis, they often will think of the psychoactive high associated with THC. In cannabis lingo this is usually referred to as recreational consumption. On the flip side of this is the medical consumer. This type of consumer may or may not seek the psychoactive component, but mostly seeks therapeutic benefit for whatever condition may be ailing them. In theory, medical consumers will intake the smallest necessary dose, psychotropic or not, to create the desired therapeutic effect. This is where microdosing comes into play, but it is also not strictly constrained to medical consumption as microdosing can have several positive mood enhancing benefits, among other things. \n\nRELATED: [MICRODOSING: CANNATHLETE'S ACTIVATION SPRAY](https://hellomd.com/health-wellness/5895242981441900084c2b02/microdosing-cannaathletes-activation-spray-product-review)\n\nMicrodosing refers to the practice of ingesting small amounts of cannabis to create a specific effect. For a medical consumer this may be self titrating a small amount throughout the day to treat a condition without feeling the effect of being high. For someone not seeking to treat a specific condition, microdosing may be utilized to create a sense of well being, reduce anxiety, focus attention or uplift the spirits on a dreary day. Whatever the motivation may be, microdosing is not about achieving a stereotypical high. For me, [microdosing not only stopped my chronic migraines and fibromyalgia](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/578da024fdc17e000700019d/microdosing-cannabis-stopped-my-chronic-pain), it has increased my sense of overall wellbeing. And I’m not the only one.\n\n### Microdosing is Trending\n\n[Recent studies have indicated](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3566631/) that microdosing may have a more positive effect than macrodosing. This is in large part due to what is called the biphasic effect. Essentially this means that there is a difference between low dosing and high dosing; a substance at a certain point will induce a positive experience but past that point it may turn into a negative experience or a ‘downer’ when too much of a product is consumed. The biphasic effect is often referred to with both alcohol and cannabis. With cannabis microdosing, the aim is to always stay within the positive realm of experience.\n\nMicro dosed products will be one of the biggest trends you will see in cannabis for 2017. Why? People are catching on to the fact that not everyone who enters a dispensary is seeking to get blown out of their mind. In today’s typical dispensary, it is not unusual to see THC percentage levels being anywhere between 60%-99% in a large selection of products. As new consumers have come to the market, there is a new demand for smaller amounts of THC, which create smaller albeit noticeable effects. This has fortunately led to the emergence of the microdosing trend as well as new product development. \n\nPersonally, this makes me very happy as microdosing to date has been largely left up to the consumer. A responsible bud tender may suggest to a new consumer to down-dose products with high levels of THC. For instance a chocolate bar may have 150 mg of THC. In order to microdose that chocolate the consumer would need to cut a small piece off and guess that he or she is taking anywhere from 5-10mg. This is not an exact science and can lead to a bad experience.\n\nRELATED: [MICRODOSING: SATORI CHOCOLATES REVIEW](https://hellomd.com/health-wellness/58797273eb7401000b5ac214/microdosing-cannabis-satori-chocolate-edibles-review)\n\n### New Microdose Products Hit the Market\n\nFor the better part of two years I have been microdosing marijuana successfully. It has helped me as a medical patient but in addition I have also noticed the positive mood enhancement benefits. Microdosing also allows me to stay active both physically and mentally. For these reasons I have been a huge proponent of more microdosed products to be placed within the marketplace. New products will not only address a big gap but also will entice new consumers to give cannabis a try, especially those who are more fearful due to a past experience or from stories they have heard. \n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en) \n_______________________________________________________________________\n\nIf you are new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our [Cannabis 101](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/cannabis-101-your-quick-guide-to-medical-marijuana) post.
