As a medicinal plant long cultivated in the Middle East, it’s probable that marijuana was used by the ancient Hebrews for ritual purposes and may even have been referred to in the Torah, the Five Books of Moses, as kaneh bosm.\n\nIn more recent times, the state of Israel has emerged as a world leader in medical cannabis research. Today, there are even cannabis events such as [Chai Havdalah](http://jewishjournal.com/culture/religion/221535/jews-get-chai-cannabis-havdalah/) that focus on the Jewish community.\n\n### Is Marijuana Kosher?\n\nBecause cannabis is a plant, as opposed to an animal product, it’s inherently kosher—if smoked, that is. When ingested as an edible or a concentrate, however, cannabis becomes subject to the Jewish dietary laws. As with any other plant that may have come into contact with non-kosher materials during processing—think insects, which, in the case of cannabis, could infest the bud—rabbinical inspection is deemed necessary.\n\nAt the end of 2015, the Orthodox Union (OU), the world’s largest kosher certification agency, [certified as kosher its first line of medical cannabis products](https://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/07/business/kosher-medical-marijuana-heads-to-market.html?mcubz=1). Extracts made by Vireo Health of New York now bear the OU’s coveted seal of approval, as do edibles made by Mitzva Herbal Co. in Los Angeles.\n\n“Judaism prioritizes health and encourages the use of medicine designed to improve one’s health or reduce pain,” Rabbi Menachem Genack, the CEO of OU Kosher, said in a statement announcing the initial decision. “Using medical cannabis products recommended by a physician should not be regarded as a chet, a sinful act, but rather as a mitzvah, an imperative, a commandment.”\n\nFour months later, Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, a leading ultra-Orthodox authority on Jewish law, blessed cannabis as a healing plant and declared [marijuana kosher for Passover.](https://www.timesofisrael.com/getting-baked-on-passover-not-just-for-matzah-rabbi-rules/)\n\n### Cannabis & the Hebrew Bible\n\nSome Jewish scholars contend that the herb referred to in the Hebrew Bible as [kaneh bosm](http://www.cannabisculture.com/content/1996/05/01/1090) can be translated to mean cannabis. The plant is first mentioned in Exodus as one of several ingredients, including myrrh and cinnamon, found in the sacred anointing oil used to initiate priests and kings. \n\nIt’s also said that the burning bush Moses saw at the top of Mt. Sinai, when God commanded him to lead his people out of Egypt, may have been a marijuana plant. While there is no way to prove the theory, it’s plausible that the prophet’s fiery vision was an allegorical representation of cannabis, the liberating effects of which could have inspired him to seek freedom.\n\n### Incorporating Cannabis into Jewish Ritual\n\nAs cannabis has made its way into the mainstream, and taboos surrounding the medicinal plant have finally begun to fall away, an increasing number of Jews are incorporating marijuana into their religious celebrations. Events with names like [Pot Shabbat]( http://forward.com/food/307808/pot-shabbat/) and [Chai Havdalah]( http://www.tabletmag.com/scroll/243923/a-real-spiritual-high-welcome-to-denvers-cannabis-havdalah) have begun to crop up in West Coast cities, and in 2015 the first official [Cannabis Seder](http://www.jta.org/2015/04/14/news-opinion/the-telegraph/marijuana-seder), which brought together Jewish drug policy activists, was held in Portland, Ore. \n\nRELATED: [Is cannabis kosher for Passover under the Jewish faith?](https://www.hellomd.com/answers/572232ba0ad3260008000009/is-cannabis-kosher-for-passover-under-the-jewish-faith)\n\nRosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, provides yet one more opportunity to incorporate cannabis into holiday ritual. Last week, the company set yet another bar by partnering with a dispensary in Los Angeles to distribute branded strains of cannabis at a weekend pop-up event to promote their upcoming original series “Disjointed,” which premiered on Netflix on Aug. 25. \n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\n\n### Pop-Up Event Sells Strains Inspired by Cannabis TV Series\n\nAt the pop-up, West Hollywood’s Alternative Herbal Health Services sold about a pound or 100 jars of its 12 strains of cannabis inspired by 10 different series on Netflix. The strains were curated based on how they make people feel and paired with corresponding shows including “BoJack Horseman,” “Arrested Development,” “Orange Is the New Black” and “Mystery Science 3000: The Return.”\n\nRELATED: [The Top 7 Marijuana Inspired TV Shows](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/58bda527f1b0a50011ad58db/the-top-7-marijuana-inspired-tv-shows)\n\nExecutive producers Chuck Lorre (“Two and a Half Men”) and David Javerbaum (“The Daily Show”) co-wrote the comedic series “Disjointed” about Ruth Whitefeather Feldman, played by Kathy Bates, who opens her own dispensary called Ruth’s Alternative Caring in Los Angeles, California. In honor of the 20-episode, half-hour series debut, Alternative Herbal Health Services sold three different strains inspired by the show called The Omega Strain (sativa hybrid), Eve’s Bush (indica hybrid) and Rutherford B. Haze (sativa hybrid).\n\nView the [“Disjointed” trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly019ZF0lsk).\n\n`embed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly019ZF0lsk` \n\n### How Cannabis Makes You Feel vs. Just Getting High \n\nThe strain names, though clever, weren’t the focus of the pop-up event. It was how the cannabis was supposed to make you feel while you enjoy some of your favorite shows; this follows in the footsteps of the cannabis industry beginning to turn its attention towards the resulting experience achieved with marijuana vs. just getting high. The trend of feelings-focused product lines is becoming more common as companies intentionally move away from strain names as an identifier and place more of an emphasis on the experience a consumer can expect.\n\n ![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/59b069cb7fd8a009179cc307/embedded_images/59b06bad7fd8a00f9c9cc2d1/Screen_Shot_2017-09-06_at_2.37.40_PM.png) \n\nHMBLDT and Level Blends are just two brands that have foregone strain-specific products altogether and are instead creating products based on how they make an individual feel. Both of the companies offer vape pens and cartridges that focus on the chemical compound content so that consumers can use a completely different lens that prioritizes their desired state after consumption. \n\nHMBLDT offers six different formulas—arouse, passion, bliss, sleep, calm and relief—in their dose pens, which were voted one of Time Magazine's Top 25 Inventions of 2016. Within each blend, the cannabinoid and terpene contents are clearly indicated along with the THC-to-CBD ratio, to give people more control and information about what they’re about to consume. \n\nSimilarly, Level Blends has its Classic blends—spark, high, float and dissolve—which range from sativa- to indica-dominant as well as their Harmonic blends—remedy, uplift and radiance, combining the healing properties of CBD and THC. \n\n### The Cannabis’s Emerging Place in Pop Culture\n\nNetflix’s move played as a major statement. The media giant has been one of only a few big-name mainstream companies to publicly pick the side of the cannabis debate that’s trying to dispel the stigma around marijuana. Meanwhile, companies like Facebook, Instagram and even Google continue to tout business practices that have shut down and turned away ad dollars from reputable and legally operating cannabis companies. \n\nThe company’s choice to bridge the intersection between smoking cannabis and relaxing at home while enjoying a movie or a show is yet another step towards normalizing the plant’s use among the mainstream. It brings the conversation to larger audiences and creates the opportunity for more dialogue around how cannabis can be used and integrated into all kinds of lifestyles.\n\n### TV Shows that Feature Marijuana\n\nWant to check out some other shows about cannabis? What started as a small gathering on Baker Beach in San Francisco in 1986 now welcomes thousands of participants from around the world, who all come together to make art, camp out, party, dance, pray, and survive for one week in the elements of the playa.\r\n\r\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\r\n\r\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/59a227ae3363c000390efdc4/embedded_images/59a227b03363c000390efdc5/Screen_Shot_2017-08-26_at_6.49.11_PM.png)\r\nThe art installation Pirámide de Muertos - Burning Man 2017 \r\n\r\nThere are [ten guiding principles](https://burningman.org/culture/philosophical-center/10-principles/) to the Burning Man event: Radical Inclusion, Gifting, Decommodification, Radical Self Reliance, Radical Self Expression, Communal Effort, Civic, Responsibility, Leave No Trace, Participation, and Immediacy. These principles set the tone for a culture that is radically different than the one we experience every day, creating an environment where a massive change in perspective causes many people to have “life-changing experiences.” This potential for transformation makes Burning Man a powerful healing experience that people crave and return to year after year.\r\n\r\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/59a227ae3363c000390efdc4/embedded_images/59a227b33363c000390efdc6/Screen_Shot_2017-08-26_at_6.41.04_PM.png)\r\nAn aerial view of Black Rock City.\r\n\r\n### Cannabis at Burning Man\r\n \r\nIt comes as no surprise that people who love cannabis are often found at Burning Man. Black Rock City is located in Nevada, where recreational cannabis use was recently legalized. Although the festival is known for hosting many psychedelic experiences, the local law enforcement on site has always been strict regarding the consumption of cannabis. \r\n\r\nAccording to Burning Man’s rules and regulations, adults aged 21 and over are permitted under Nevada law to transport and possess up to one ounce of cannabis, but the public use of cannabis is prohibited. Yes, it is possible to get arrested at Burning Man, and because smoking cannabis is much more obvious than many other forms of consumption, it is easier for law enforcement to find cannabis consumers. Historically this has led to cannabis patients to be extremely discreet or risk getting in trouble due to federal law.\r\n\r\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/59a227ae3363c000390efdc4/embedded_images/59a228913363c0001d0efdc2/Screen_Shot_2017-08-26_at_7.02.09_PM.png)\r\nThe art installation \"Charon\" a 3D stroboscopic zoetropes.\r\n\r\nMany participants are curious if the recent legalization in Nevada means that they can finally consume their cannabis in the open and the answer is unclear, but appears to be “no.” Because Black Rock City is located in a federal park on the federal land of the Black Rock Desert, the federal law takes precedent over the state. \r\n\r\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/59a227ae3363c000390efdc4/embedded_images/59a227b83363c000390efdc9/Screen_Shot_2017-08-26_at_6.56.46_PM.png)\r\nA DJ art car drives through the desert.\r\n\r\n### Spiritual Rejuvenation\r\n\r\nWhy is Burning Man so popular? What I have learned in my own desert experiences, is that many participants have profound experiences when participating in the playa community. We all crave inspiration and meaning in our lives, a clue that there is some reason for feeling the way we do and doing the things we do. At Burning Man, the combination of survival, freedom, community, inclusion and inspiration creates a unique environment that ignites spiritual rejuvenation. It’s like a new year or a rebirth - you can find yourself in the dust and be whoever you want to be. \r\n\r\nRELATED:[ENHANCING THE SOLAR ECLIPSE WITH CANNABIS](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/enhancing-the-solar-eclipse-with-cannabis)\r\n\r\nThis year’s art theme is Radical Ritual, and participants are invited to “create interactive rites, ritual processions, elaborate images, shrines, icons, temples, and visions….in an attempt to reinvent ritual in our post post-modern world.” Art installations will include Peter Hudson’s trippy [stroboscopic zoetrope Charon](https://www.hudzo.com/charon/), Dicapril’s [Gummy Bear Pyramid](https://www.dicapria.com/pyramid), the world’s largest grammophone [La Victrola](http://lavictrola.org/), and [many, many more](https://burningman.org/event/brc/2017-art-installations/#a2I0V0000015umNUAQ).\r\n\r\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/59a227ae3363c000390efdc4/embedded_images/59a227b73363c000390efdc8/Screen_Shot_2017-08-26_at_6.55.56_PM.png)\r\nAn art installation at night.\r\n\r\n### 11 Ways to Create the Magic of Burning Man\r\n\r\nI am not going “home” this year and watching all my friends take off for the dust has left me a bit nostalgic and reflective. The thing is (and apologies for sounding cheesy, but it’s true!), the essence of Burning Man lives inside all of us, and we can bring the magic of Burning Man into our everyday lives anytime we want. Here are some ways to spark up your spiritual life here in the “default world”, inspired by life at Burning Man: \r\n\r\n>* Step away from the screens. Try taking (at least) a weekend off from your phone and computer\r\n\r\n>* See people. Spend face-to-face time with real life humans and share an experience.\r\n\r\n>* Go outside. Take a walk, go for a swim, lay in the grass, hug a tree, watch the stars. Whatever it takes to reconnect with nature. \r\n\r\n>* Give a gift. And expect nothing in return. \r\n\r\n>* Try something new. What have you always wanted to do but never have the time? Do it now!\r\n\r\n>* Say hello. Smile, wave, make eye contact with someone you haven’t met before. \r\n>* Get artsy. Make time to be playful with music, painting, dancing, writing - whatever inspires your inner child. \r\n \r\n>* Go for a bike ride. It’s physical, playful, and fun!\r\n\r\n>* Wear your flair. Put on something you love but never wear. \r\n\r\n>* Find your flow. Leave the house without a plan and see what happens.\r\n \r\n>* Expect (and welcome) the unexpected. You might be surprised at what happens with a change of attitude and perspective.\r\n\r\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/59a227ae3363c000390efdc4/embedded_images/59a228d6a53773001d7323cc/Screen_Shot_2017-08-26_at_7.04.01_PM.png)\r\nThe sculpture \"Love\" which encompasses the ethos of the playa.\r\n\r\nIf you are new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our [Cannabis 101](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/cannabis-101-your-quick-guide-to-medical-marijuana) post. While peering through my glasses watching the sun slowly take away the light, I heard someone comment that it seemed to be a metaphor of the turbulent times surrounding us. Given recent current events, even looking at your Facebook feed can even be an anxiety-invoking experience.\r\n\r\nBut as with the eclipse, and every experience in life, this too is temporary. It’s how we choose to move through it that makes the difference. Not everything is within our control, but what we're in control of is our own thoughts, words and actions. Staying positive, focusing on peaceful thoughts, supporting our friends and loved ones, and being the change we wish to see in the world are some things we can do to shift from darkness to light.\r\n\r\nThese may be trying times, but within the turbulence, there's an opportunity to become something greater. For instance, we can choose to grow and be grateful for what's good and true and emit our own bit of peace into the world.\r\n\r\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\r\n\r\nWith that, here are 5 TED talks we find inspiring and thought provoking:\r\n\r\n### The Power of Mindfulness\r\n\r\n`embed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeblJdB2-Vo`\r\nDr. Shauna Shapiro talks about being present in the moment through meditation and demonstrates how mindfulness can help us make positive changes in our brains and our lives. What you practice grows stronger.\r\n\r\n### How Laughing at Yourself Can Change the World\r\n\r\n`embed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3S__-5-FHQ`\r\nBrad Jenkins is half Korean and half African American. If you aren’t given any advance notice, there’s really nothing you can do to reverse an on-the-spot situation that will garner positive tetrahydrocannibinol (THC) results. But, if luck is on your side and you get the chance to know the date of your test, there are some things you can do to put the odds in your favor. \n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\n\nThere are a number of factors that contribute to how much THC is present in your body at any given time including:\n\n- How much body fat you have\n- How active your metabolism is\n- How often you consume cannabis\n- What you’re consuming (flower, edibles, tinctures, concentrates)\n\nThe most common type of drug test is a urinalysis, where your urine is examined for traces of metabolized THC. This type of test gives you your best chance at passing a marijuana screening. There’s no tried-and-true way to flush THC completely out of your system beyond abstaining altogether. However, there are some tips you can put to use to help heavily dilute, mask or greatly reduce the amount of THC that could show up in an urinalysis test.\n\nRELATED: [DO CANNABIS TOPICALS PASS THE DRUG TEST?](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/574b679b982db9000a000055/do-cannabis-topicals-pass-the-drug-test) \n\nPlease keep in mind that these cannabis detox tips won’t be very effective for more in-depth tests that require blood or hair samples.\n\n### Detox Tip #1: Stop Consuming THC\n\nThis may seem like a given, but the first thing to do as soon as you’re aware that you’ll need to take a test is stop consuming marijuana containing THC. That means no smoking, vaping, eating an edible, sneaking drops of tincture, putting on a transdermal patch—cut it all out. You’ll have to just go cold turkey on your marijuana consumption until the coast is clear. \n\n### Detox Tip #2: Stall for More Time\n\nThe more time you can put between your appointment and the last time you consumed a cannabis product with THC in it, the more time you have for it to naturally exit your system. On average, it can take about three to four weeks for the body to be rid of any telltale signs of THC. That said, it can also stick around up to a few months for daily consumers. So again, the longer you can have before taking a drug test, the better your results may be. \n\n### Detox Tip #3: Drink Water\n\nWater will help dilute the amount of marijuana in your system. But it’s not necessary to overdo it, as heavily diluted and lightly colored urine will likely be noticeable to lab technicians. Drinking two to three liters per day in the time leading up to the drug test and at least one liter the day of the test should be enough. As well, adding some lemon to your water will aid not only in digestion but with the detoxification of your body of marijuana.\n\n### Detox Tip #4: Take Vitamin B & Creatinine\n\nHigh water intake changes the natural hue of your urine and reduces naturally occurring waste chemicals that might be a red flag during testing. Taking vitamin B will help restore the yellow color while creatinine will replicate the chemical waste product produced by muscle metabolism, thereby reducing any suspicions of intentional dilution. \n\n### Detox Tip #5: Eat Well ... or Try a Cleanser Drink\n\nYou can flush marijuana from your body naturally by committing to an impeccable diet full of fresh, whole foods that are high in fiber if you have the luxury of time. If you’re pressed for time, you can opt for detoxification programs or cleansers to flush out the marijuana. Meanwhile, there are companies that offer herbal regimens. Or you can head to a local smoke shop to pick up a detox or cleanser drink that will help you if you need to detox your body quickly.\n\n### Detox Tip #6: Sweat, Sweat, Sweat\n\nAlthough it’s advised that people avoid exercise in the 24 hours before a testing situation, it’s a good idea to try to sweat as much as possible leading up to your test date, thereby flushing your body of the marijuana—specifically, the THC. The eclipse will create a 73-mile wide “path of totality,” creating over two minutes of complete darkness as the moon passes in front of the sun, casting a shadow over the earth. A rare cosmic phenomenon, the United States has not seen a total solar eclipse since 1979 and will not see one again until 2024. \n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\n\nWhen it comes to cosmic, cannabis-friendly events, we are about to experience nature’s best. As [described by Rick Fienberg](https://www.space.com/33797-total-solar-eclipse-2017-guide.html), a spokesperson for the American Astronomical Society (AAS), “It brings people to tears. It makes people’s jaw drop.” \n\nDuring a total solar eclipse, the sun’s outer atmosphere, called the corona, becomes visible to the human eye. Some describe the sight as [“great jets and ribbons of light, twisting and curling out into the sky.”](https://www.space.com/33797-total-solar-eclipse-2017-guide.html). Leading up to totality, observers will see the moon’s shadow moving toward them across the landscape - daylight will become twilight for about two minutes - and then the band of darkness will move away.\n\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/5995df7aa38c6226f43e779b/embedded_images/5995e01904d0882a7525e2f5/Screen_Shot_2017-08-17_at_11.25.10_AM.png) \n\n### Cannabis-Enhanced Eclipse\n\nEven without a big event like an eclipse, cannabis can inspire spiritual musings on outer space and the meaning of life. Just as reflecting on outer space can remind us of our place within the larger order of the universe, cannabis expands our perspective, encouraging us to view reality from a metaphysical standpoint. \n\nClint Werner, eclipse chaser and cannabis author, [describes why](http://www.greenstate.com/food-travel/a11660624/cannabis-fans-are-freaking-out-for-the-eclipse) the combination of the eclipse and cannabis is special for him; “Each eclipse is, for me, a mandala of cosmic intentionality. Marijuana enhances my reflection on existence and our relationship to the Universe and infinity, while a total solar eclipse gives form and expression through nature to those stoney musings.”\n\nRELATED:[THE INTERNATIONAL CHURCH OF CANNABIS IS OPEN FOR WORSHIP]\n(https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/58feae3c690a06312b371a57/the-international-church-of-cannabis-is-open-for-worship)\n\n\n### Eclipse Events\n\nThe eclipse will be visible from many states across the country, as it passes through Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. NASA has created an [interactive map](https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/) which allows you to search for viewing areas. Offical warnings have been issued for eclipse-chasers to travel well-prepared with food, fuel, and water, as the rural towns that fall within the best viewing areas may run out of resources. \n\nWithin cannabis-friendly states, there are quite a few eclipse events that offer an opportunity to gather with like-minded cosmic travelers.\n\n[Oregon Eclipse Festival:](http://oregoneclipse2017.com/)\n\nPerhaps the largest event happening, this week-long music and art festival has multiple stages and a massive line-up of musical acts, interactive art, seminars, and more. A collaboration of ten different festival promoters, the event takes place at Big Summit Prairie, on the coast in Oregon’s Ochoco Forest. With thousands of revelers in attendance, this is the place to see and be seen. \n\n[The Stoner Eclipse](https://www.high5tours.com/stoner-eclipse-2017/):\n\nHosted by High 5 Tours, The Stoner Eclipse is a three-day field trip, transporting eclipse viewers to a special camp in Unity, Oregon. During the six-hour bus trip, participants will have the opportunity to test out cannabis products and learn more about strains and the art of joint-rolling. \n\n\n[NASA Live Stream:](https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/eclipse-live-stream)\n\nViewable from anywhere with an Internet connection, NASA will air a four-hour show Eclipse Across America complete with live footage of the eclipse, and coverage of the events happening in parks, festivals, and museums across the country. \n\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/5995df7aa38c6226f43e779b/embedded_images/5995e01a04d0882a7525e2f7/Screen_Shot_2017-08-17_at_11.26.19_AM.png)\nphoto credit ericteske.com\n\n### Create Your Own Cannabis Eclipse Ritual\n\nIf, like me, you have decided to avoid the eclipse-chaser crowds and stay home instead, you can still make the eclipse a special event for yourself or a small gathering of friends. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a traffic-free, peaceful journey. Here are a few ideas for creating your own ritual for using cannabis around the upcoming solar eclipse:\n\n\n>* Choose your cannabis: Prepare ahead of time by having your favorite strain of cannabis or favorite product on hand. Consume mindfully either before, after, or during any of the following recommendations. \n\n>* Set an intention: This eclipse season is a time for turning inward and reflecting on our personal journeys. Take a moment to think about what you want to release from your life and what you want to bring into your life. Then write it down, say it aloud, or say it inwardly. \n\n>* Light candles and incense: Set the mood and enhance your senses with scents and lighting.\n\n>* Create music: The choice of music is a personal one - use it to create the atmosphere you desire. For meditative sounds, there are many recordings available online of Tibetan singing bowls, bells, and mantras. You may also choose to make your own music using whatever instruments you have at home. \n\n>* Meditate or Pray: Repeating mantras or prayers is another powerful way to manifest your intentions. Many spiritual cannabis users pray to Shiva. You may also choose to speak to the sun and the moon directly. Take a moment to be quiet and let your thoughts go, letting the cannabis guide your inner journey. \n\nIf you are new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our [Cannabis 101](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/cannabis-101-your-quick-guide-to-medical-marijuana) post. Cannabis leaves have become the newest spring floral pattern and decorate everything from high end fashion brands like Alexander Wang to everyday socks. The fashion industry, often known to take a stance on social issues, is embracing cannabis on the heels of a global-wide trend towards cannabis legalization and acceptance.\r\n\r\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en) \r\n\r\nCannabis fashion used to be marked by the “traditional stoner” attire including quirky cannabis t-shirts with large weed leafs taking center stage and Rastafarian gear. Hemp-based clothing products have also long been on the market, though the fabric was most often embraced by those seeking to make clothing for the stereotypical stoner. Designers of all ranks are beginning to embrace hemp as a fabric along-side their new interest in cannabis motifs. \r\n\r\nFrom maxi-dresses to cool graphic t-shirts, clothing dotted with cannabis motifs are now socially acceptable not only to produce, but to wear. Cannabis symbolism on clothing no longer sends a signal that the wearer of the clothing is a stoner but instead has become a symbol of freedom and the ability to express yourself in whatever way they would like.\r\n\r\n### Cannabis is Now High End\r\n\r\nCannabis is the trend of the season because it is now seen as cool and stylish. It has been rebranded as something that is luxurious and high end, expanding far beyond the image of Bob Marley. Cannabis is now seen as elite and chic, which may continue as cannabis becomes legalized across the United States and the world.\r\n\r\nCelebrities like Miley Cyrus and Rihanna have publicly shown their love for cannabis based attire, and at times, their love of the herb itself. Many other celebrities have also rocked cannabis clothing attire that showed that showed that they are hip and in style. Margot Robbie, who hasn’t been known for her outspoken support of cannabis like Cyrus and Rihanna, also donned a black and tan dress covered in cannabis leaves when she hosted Saturday Night Live in 2016. Cannabis motifs have provided celebrities and people with a way to show that they have an edgy side, but without making too much of a serious stance on something that is controversial enough to change the way they are viewed. \r\n\r\n### Wearing Your Grinder\r\n\r\nAnother in the line of cannabis fashion that has become popular is lines of wearable cannabis products. Grinder and roach clip necklaces have combined fashion and function, and express an interest in cannabis without the actual presence of cannabis leaves. These products, though functional are a more discreet way for wearers to portray their love of cannabis. \r\n\r\n ![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/5989d3a68d72e02775cf9c03/embedded_images/5989d473d78a64235cc86e3d/Screen_Shot_2017-08-08_at_8.08.40_AM.png)\r\nCannabis socks are now readily available.\r\n \r\nTo the unknown observer, these pieces of jewelry looks like they are interesting, intricate designs, but they are actually functional to help people enjoy cannabis itself. Cannabis brands have also started to create new and innovative packaging and sleek looking products that are “instagramable” and fit a general aesthetic of freedom, youth, and fashion. From purses to shoes, cannabis is the newest trend in the fashion industry that brands are taking part in, which continues to change the perception of cannabis.\r\n\r\nIf you are new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our [Cannabis 101](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/cannabis-101-your-quick-guide-to-medical-marijuana) post.
