Given this new shift in cultural mores, it's no coincidence that weed, sex, and marijuana, are also quickly growing in popularity. And for women, cannabis is showing promise as a natural sexual enhancement aid.\n\nIn this article, we will talk about sex and weed in-depth – lifting the veil on the ties between cannabis and enhanced sexual pleasure for women. \n\n![Untitled68-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled68_min_7387029dda.png)\n\n### Weed & Sexual Enhancement for Women\n\nMarijuana is known to [enhance focus](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/5-top-marijuana-strains-that-foster-focus-and-productivity), [reduce anxiety](https://www.hellomd.com/tag/anxiety), increase sensitivity, and create a euphoric effect for many consumers. \n\nWhen coupled with sex, weed can bring enhanced sexual pleasure into the bedroom. \n\nA [2020 study of female dispensary shoppers](https://www.smoa.jsexmed.org/article/S2050-1161(20)30086-6/fulltext) found that \"increasing frequency of cannabis use is associated with improved sexual function and is associated with increased satisfaction, orgasm, and sexual desire.\"\n\nA [recent study](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6522945/) was conducted to explore the effects of marijuana on sexual functioning in women, including libido, arousal, orgasm, and satisfaction. Of the three hundred and thirty-seven participants, 34% reported using marijuana before sexual activity. Most noted an increase in sex drive, improvement in orgasm, and decreased pain. The study concludes that women who consume marijuana before sex are two times more likely to have a satisfactory orgasm. Marijuana appears to improve women's overall satisfaction with their orgasms.\n\nBut what causes this? \n\nThere are a few reasons that weed makes sex better. \n\nCannabis grounds you to the moment. In order to properly enjoy a sexual experience, you often need to be completely present – without distraction. Weed relaxes the mind and body, allowing you to become lost in your partner. \n\nWeed reduces pain and anxiety. For those feeling anxious or experiencing discomfort, marijuana alleviates or reduces these sensations.\n\nMarijuana has euphoric effects. Combining a euphoric \"high\" from weed with the pleasure of sex can heighten the experience. \n\nIt's important to note that although weed and sex do seem to go great together, that doesn't mean everyone will experience the same result. \n\n![Untitled66-min.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled66_min_9f2b1dbbe4.png)\n\n### How to Use Cannabis for Sex\n\nJust because weed is great for sex, doesn't mean more weed means better sex. In fact, excessive consumption [can cause Erectile Dysfunction for men](https://www.goodrx.com/well-being/substance-use/can-weed-cause-ed-or-infertility).\n\nThe key to marijuana and sex is finding a product and strain that best suits you. If you're already an experienced smoker, this may be easier to do than if you are new to the plant. \n\nNext, start slow and work your way up when consuming cannabis. You can always consume more cannabis later, but you can't go back if you take too much. \n\nIf you stick to a plan, you'll enjoy all of the benefits of cannabis during sex, without any adverse effects. \n\n In no time, you'll be mixing weed into your sexual routine regularly. \n\n### Top Marijuana Strains for Sex\n\nCreating an extraordinary sexual experience with weed can come down to choosing a strain that best suits you. We selected the marijuana strains listed below for optimal sexual enhancement. Out came a delightful bright orange package of CALM pre-rolls, and the poppy-colored box with an elegant logo that screams luxury, akin to Hermes or Chanel. \n\nTurning over the pre-roll box, the label at the bottom says \"CALM - Read a book, sleep soundly, and find relief.\" We both nod in agreement, a silent nonverbal \"Yes!\", and walk towards the house. We plan to enjoy our new MJ acquisition in my sunny California garden - which also happens to feature the finest array of succulents this side of the Missippi.\n\n![CALM individual pre-roll by Canndascent](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Screen_Shot_2021_11_10_at_9_48_21_AM_41d423cc6f.png)\n\n\nSitting down on two comfy chaise lounges, we inspect the pre-roll box and slide it open. Inside rest six individual pre-rolls, nicely separated from one another with Canndescent printed horizontally down the filter. The packaging has a specific wow-factor, like a celebration in a box, that now seems to put other pre-roll brands to shame.\n\nOn their site, Canndescent claims to be, \"the first luxury cannabis brand, is an ultra-premium, effects-based product line designed to help consumers select flower based on their individual needs.\" Right now, I feel the need to be relaxed in my sun-dappled garden, so I take out the first one gram pre-roll jay, hand one to my fellow tester, and we light up.\n\n![Relaxing in a back garden with Canndescent effects-based pre-rolls](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Screen_Shot_2021_11_10_at_4_35_27_PM_bd0672019b.png)\n\nThe first hint of scent as the smoke wafts upwards is both spicy and earthy. After a draw, the spicy, earthy flavor gives way to a hint of pine, with a delicate flavor left in the mouth. CALM has three main terpenes [myrcene](https://hellomd.com/articles/know-your-cannabis-terpenes-myrcene), limonene, and caryophellene which shore up and magnify the full body and head high that washes over us like a warm breeze. CALM feels gentle and doesn't impose the couch-lock associated with many Indica strains; it has a smooth intake, and a full-body relaxation ensues. Other reviews compare CALM to Kush strains, and we both concur.\n\nTen minutes after our first few puffs, we lean back and enjoy watching a sweet hummingbird dart from one lavender flower to the next. We both feel relaxed, yet fully present. CALM lives up to its name. We go for drinks with friends, have a drink to celebrate, have drinks after work, and of course, we serve drinks at a party. In society, we drink for a lot of different reasons, and for the most part, it is culturally acceptable to consume alcohol with friends and family.\n\nBut is alcohol good for us? If we look at the science and the data, regular consumption of alcohol has a lot of unintended [negative health consequences](https://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/fact-sheets/alcohol-use.htm), from alcohol dependence to a higher risk of different cancers, higher rates of depression, and even a weakened immune system.\n\nIf you consume alcohol regularly, maybe it's time to consider pivoting to something else. That could mean abstaining altogether (chocolate is a great substitute!) or approaching alcohol more consciously and in moderation. Or, it could be time to consider an alternative, such as [cannabis-infused beverages](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/top-5-best-weed-infused-drinks). If consumed properly, marijuana can provide similar benefits we experience from alcohol but with fewer health problems. Also, who doesn't want to avoid the next day's alcohol hangover?!\n\n![Hello2-min (32).png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Hello2_min_32_4a3bead3e3.png)\n\n### How Much is Too Much Alcohol\n\nIf you are a moderate drinker, you may be able to drink alcohol without noticing any negative effects. Experts debate if there are health benefits to drinking; some possible ones include:\n\n- Reducing the risk of developing heart disease\n- Possibly reduces the risk of ischemic stroke \n- Possibly reduces the risk of diabetes\n\nThe [Mayo Clinic](https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/alcohol/art-20044551) indicates that health benefits are more likely received if you have a healthy diet and are physically active. \n\nModerate drinking is considered to be one to two drinks a day for *men* and one per day or less for *women*. Examples of one drink include:\n\n- Beer: 12 fluid ounces (355 milliliters)\n- Wine: 5 fluid ounces (148 milliliters)\n- Distilled spirits (80 proof): 1.5 fluid ounces (44 milliliters)\n\nBut even a moderate drinker has an increased risk of some cancers, including breast and esophageal cancer. \n\nHeavy or high-risk drinking is defined as more than three drinks on any day or more than seven drinks a week for women and for men older than age 65, and more than four drinks on any day or more than 14 drinks a week for men aged 65 and younger.\n\nSome of the health risks of excessive drinking and binge drinking include:\n\n- Certain cancers\n- Pancreatitis\n- Sudden death if you already have cardiovascular disease\n- Heart muscle damage leading to heart failure\n- Stroke\n- High blood pressure\n- Liver disease\n- Suicide\n- Accidental serious injury or death\n- Brain damage and other problems in an unborn child\n- Alcohol withdrawal syndrome\n- Depression and anxiety\n- Sleep disturbances such as insomnia\n- Addiction or alcohol dependence\n\n![Hello4-min (25).png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Hello4_min_25_3e78cc9de3.png)\n\n### Do You Have an Alcohol Problem?\n\nIf you're asking if you have a drinking problem, chances are you do. Some of the [warning signs of alcohol abuse](https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/addiction/understanding-alcohol-abuse-symptoms) include:\n\n- Drinking more than you plan to\n- Couldn't cut back or stop despite trying\n- Spend a lot of time drinking, being sick, or hungover\n- Want alcohol so badly you can't think of anything else\n- Have problems with work, school, or family because of your drinking habit \n- Continuing to drink even though it is causing problems for you or your relationships \n- Cut back on other activities important to you in order to drink\n- Keep drinking even though it made you depressed or anxious, hurt your health, or led to a memory blackout\n- Drink more and more to get the same effect \n- Experiencing withdrawal symptoms when the buzz wears off, such as trouble sleeping, shakiness, restlessness, nausea, sweating, a racing heart, a seizure, or seeing, hearing, or feeling things that aren't there.\n\nThe [National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAA)](https://www.niaaa.nih.gov/) offers a number of [resources for getting assessments and help with your drinking problem](https://www.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/brochures-and-fact-sheets/treatment-alcohol-problems-finding-and-getting-help). These can include traditional self-help groups such as [Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)](https://www.aa.org/) or Secular AA; different types of treatments and medications; different kinds of health professionals available to work with you; and much more.\n\n![Hello5-min (20).png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Hello5_min_20_f32320fe18.png)\n\n### Replacing a Drinking Habit with Another...\n\nIf your drinking problem isn't severe, then replacing your nightly cocktail with another habit, one with less physical damage, maybe an easy switch up. If your drinking habit is deeply ingrained, or you find difficulty breaking your habit, we suggest a really good read!\n\nTo find a pathway to real change, it's worth consulting a book by Charles Duhigg, [The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business](https://www.amazon.com/Power-Habit-What-Life-Business/dp/1400069289/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1633013539&sr=8-1). \n\nThe key to exercising regularly, losing weight, raising great children, becoming more productive, building revolutionary companies and social movements, and achieving success, and stopping or moderating drinking is to understand how habits work. This book clearly demonstrates how change is possible, even with ingrained habits - such as drinking too much.\n\n![Hello6-min (14).png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Hello6_min_14_b1261ca3dd.png)\n\n### Replacing Alcohol With Marijuana\n\nThere's evidence to suggest that it's [safer to consume weed](https://hellomd.com/articles/marijuana-is-safer-than-alcohol-and-tobacco-study-finds) than alcohol or tobacco. Studies have shown that alcohol can be about 114 times more deadly than marijuana. That's a bit of a whopper!\n\nTimes are changing as people become more aware of the dangers of alcohol and the benefits of marijuana. As the rise of weed legalization continues across the United States (especially under the pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic), we see an increasing number of young people who embracing marijuana in lieu of drinking.\n\nThe [\"Monitoring the Future\" report](https://www.addictioncenter.com/news/2021/09/college-students-marijuana-more-alcohol-less/), sponsored by The [National Institute On Drug Abuse at the National Institutes of Health](https://nida.nih.gov/), reveals changes in the patterns of substance use in the college student population. \n\nStatistics show that 44% of college students indicated they had used marijuana in the previous year, while 56% reported drinking. This represents a substantial shift. In 2015, only 38% of college students said they used marijuana, while 62% of the same population admitted to drinking alcohol in 2019.\n\n[Another study, by Harris Poll,](https://www.forbes.com/sites/ajherrington/2021/12/31/marijuana-is-replacing-alcohol-for-nearly-half-of-cannabis-consumers-during-the-pandemic/?sh=55807ac61fb6) indicates that half of cannabis consumers aged 21 and up have replaced or reduced their alcohol consumption with marijuana since the beginning of the pandemic. The poll also found that one-third of those who use cannabis recreationally prefer cannabis to drinking alcohol.\n\n![Hello8-min (6).png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Hello8_min_6_d189a78935.png)\n\n### The Cannabis-Infused Beverage: An Alcohol Alternative\n\nShifting consumer attitudes and patterns have alcohol companies on their toes and somewhat concerned. While cannabis is growing in popularity as a new consumption method makes the switch from alcohol to marijuana even easier; to enter the weed-infused beverage.\n\nCannabis sales in this country. are expected to [reach $21.6 billion in 2021](https://daily.sevenfifty.com/why-the-alcohol-industry-is-betting-big-on-cannabis/), with cannabis beverage sales making up about $210 million of that. More than 80% of consumers believe that weed is safer than alcohol, sparking major alcohol companies to invest in **THC and CBD beverages**, such as [Molson Coors](https://www.molsoncoors.com/av?url=https://www.molsoncoors.com/), [Lagunitas](https://lagunitas.com/), [Pabst](https://www.pabstlabs.com/), and [Constellation Brands](https://www.cbrands.com/).\n\nThe weed-infused beverage market has two main categories: **THC beverages** and **hemp-derived CBD beverages**. Each category has its own legal requirements and route to market. But they have the same appeal: **They're non-alcoholic**, have a touch of mocktail effervescence, and include low to zero calories. It seems this may be the new healthy alternative to boozing it up on the weekends!\n\nIn this vein, here are seven cannabis-infused drinks available throughout the California market that are worth trying:\n\n![Screen Shot 2021-10-01 at 1.11.28 PM.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Screen_Shot_2021_10_01_at_1_11_28_PM_857d1176cd.png)\n\n### ReCreate Mango Hibiscus\nContaining 10 mg of THC and 10 mg of CBD, [the extra-strength version of this cannabis beverage](https://www.recreatecannabis.com/product/mango-hibiscus-beverage-extra-strength) has only 30 calories and combines full-spectrum extract with uplifting botanicals like Yerba Mate to help keep you energized and uplifted throughout the day. \n\n![Hello6-min (15).png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Hello6_min_15_05e3b2be98.png)\n\n### Saka Pink\n[House of Saka Pink](https://www.houseofsaka.com/portfolio-item/saka-pink/) is a cannabis-infused beverage handcrafted from grapes grown in select vineyards within California's Napa Valley. Yoga originated in India, during approximately the same time frame when cannabis appeared. Both yoga and cannabis have been closely tied to meditative processes in India for thousands of years and rose to popularity simultaneously in the United States in the 60s and the 70s. \n\nThe original connection between cannabis and yoga is not exactly known, but different historians have tied the two together in different events, ceremonies, and religious significances. It is believed that the Lord Shiva, the destroyer and creator god in Hinduism, who also happens to be the god of yoga, was rejuvenated from injury after consuming cannabis. Some people believe that this religious connection is what incorporated cannabis into yoga practice in the first place. \n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\n\nCannabis was also present when many of the modern yoga positions were created. Many of the yoga positions we know of today were created in the 7th century by tantric cultures, who practiced a combination of Shaviaite Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism. Many of these religious cultures used cannabis regularly as part of their practice while they developed many of the aspects of modern Hatha Yoga. \n\nThe Yoga Sutras, which were compiled in 400 CE, outline the 196 main principles of yoga. The Sutras mention the use of “herbs” to help with subtler attainments. It has been argued by some people that herbs means cannabis, while others refute that fact. Many Sadhu’s today, however, use cannabis for spiritual purposes. These Sadhu’s, or Hindu holy men, believe that cannabis allows them to liberate themselves from perceived existential limits. They use cannabis in all aspects of their prayer, including during yoga. \n\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/58a38cc01689ad0017e8493b/embedded_images/58a38cc41689ad0017e8493c/Screen_Shot_2017-02-14_at_2.49.37_PM.png)\nCannabis can help you relax and go deeper into your yoga practice.\n \n### Modern Day Cannabis Use\n\nThe idea of cannabis infused yoga was first brought to the United States in 2012. [Dee Dussault], a yoga teacher in San Francisco, opened the [Ganga Yoga](https://www.deedussault.com/) Practice in San Fransisco to provide her clients with a safe space to combine cannabis and their yoga practice. Though cannabis is optional in the classes, it is highly recommended, and the classes are currently only open to patients who have a registered California Medical Marijuana card. \n\nRELATED: [CANNABIS FOR INCREASED PASSION & PLAY PART 1](https://hellomd.com/health-wellness/5887f2c9d88c9d000847c1d0/cannabis-for-increased-passion-and-play-part-1)\n\nCannabis can be used to deepen your yoga practice, whether it is in a cannabis-friendly studio or in the comfort of your own home. Cannabis can help increase your focus and mindfulness during yoga. Sometimes people find it hard to rid themselves of their daily stresses while settling into their yoga practice, but cannabis can help focus the mind and free it from frivolous thoughts. Yoga is all about finding your center within yourself and cannabis can help you achieve that goal. Cannabis helps you to de-stress and prepare yourself to enter a more mediative state. \n\n### Finding the Right Cannabis Product\n\nAs with all physical activity, it is important to dose cannabis in a way that allows you to still very aware of your body and physical space. First, choose a method of administration that you enjoy and one that helps to relax you. If you prefer to smoke or vaporize, consume a small amount of cannabis. Non-psychoactive high CBD strains such as [ACDC](https://www.hellomd.com/marijuana-strains/acdc) or Electra Tsu are a great choice because they can provide you with a high that allows you to stay relaxed, but alert. \n\nSmall, low dose edibles are also a great choice for your yoga practice. Edibles, when taken in small doses, can provide a good, full body high. Edibles, however, it can be difficult to dose properly since many are packaged in large containers. It is always recommended to go low and slow until you understand your own tolerance level.\n\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/58a38cc01689ad0017e8493b/embedded_images/58a38cc51689ad0017e8493d/Screen_Shot_2017-02-14_at_2.53.51_PM.png) \nSatori is a HelloMD favorite for cannabis micro dosing.\n\n[Satori bite-sized edibles](https://hellomd.com/brands/5859abb6d50c6c001176da5b) are a great choice for a pre-yoga treat that can bring you into a relaxed, but aware state for your yoga practice. Part 1","slug":"cannabis-for-increased-passion-and-play-part-1","content":"### Increase Your Passion\n\n‘Tis the season for romance, and if you’re looking for a way to make your night even more sexy, there are many ways cannabis can enhance love-making. \n\nSome lovers out there are already daily tokers, and if that’s you, I’ll be sharing sexy tips for both the novice and veteran alike. However, if you’re a total newbie to the world of cannabis, or feel apprehensive about trying it again after a bad trip long ago, let me be the first to say, it’s a brave new world now, and cannabis is not the same thing it was even five years ago. \n\n### Something for Everyone\n\nWith new scientific understandings of how it affects our body and cutting edge technology to make the most of extraction and bioavailability, cannabis is blooming. With so much diversity in strain type (literally thousands to choose from), ways to consume (smoke, vape, eat, or rub it), and types of potential effect, in many ways it’s like talking about many different plants. The good news is, when it comes to cannabis, now there’s something for nearly everyone.\n\nIf you’ve heard good things about using cannabis for sex and want to try it, consider me your green Cupid, shooting you with my arrow of knowledge this Valentine's’ day. \n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\n\nYou’re in good hands: I’m a sexuality coach and relaxation expert, and I’ll give you the tools you need to select the best cannabis product to get the job done, whether with a lover or on your own, while sprinkling in some intimacy and sensuality techniques from the world of Tantra Yoga, which will expand both the psychoactive experience of the cannabis and the passion you’re experiencing! \n\n### Cannabis Relaxation\n\nCannabis is good for love because it's good for yoga, listening to music, walks in nature, and anything else you like. Cannabis increases relaxation, which enables us to connect to and feel into our bodies more deeply, which makes sex better as well. It's also important to know that when cannabis doesn’t relax you, it usually means the strain was too high in THC, or too much cannabis was consumed.\n\nIn yoga, we learn that we enjoy and appreciate life more when we’re feeling relaxed. Relaxation of both body and mind is the key to really good living, and to really good sex. Think about the best sexual experiences you've had; I bet it was when you were free of concern, anxiety, and distraction. Think about how extra-good sex feels after a run, or when on vacation. When we’re relaxed, our blood vessels dilate, allowing for greater nerve sensitivity throughout the body. \n\n### Cannabis as Sexual Lubricant\n\nCannabis, at the right strain and dose, encourages mental and physical relaxation. It has been shown to sooth depression and anxiety, while at the same time, decreasing inflammation and pain. \n\nRELATED: [MARIJUANA INCREASES YOUR SEXUAL EXPERIENCE](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/587417bc2975c00008b040b1/marijuana-increases-your-sexual-experience)\n\nI tell my sex coaching clients to think of cannabis as an energetic lubricant, washing away the corrosive armor of tension that we carry, usually unconsciously. To get high and chill out. Many of us know that stress and anxiety are implicated in low sex drive for both genders, and inability to attain orgasm in women and male premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction in guys. Using cannabis to relax is a stand for self-care and a commitment to better sex.\n\nTip: If you’re new to cannabis, explore it in places that feel comfortable and pleasing, either alone or with people you trust and feel good around. There’s no rush to develop a relationship at a fast pace. Just take your time and enjoy the journey. Choose methods of consumption that feel the most natural and exciting to you: vaping, smoking, eating, using tinctures, or rubbing on topicals. My favorite for sex is a low-dose edible that can slowly take effect about a half an hour after I eat it. Chocolates like Kiva give a wonderfully pleasurable body-buzz!\n\n### Relaxation as Foreplay\n\nUsing cannabis to relax is one thing. Using cannabis, alongside various relaxation practices, is quite another. Mindfulness is one such practice. Here you attempt to keep your attention in the present moment instead of being lost in thought. \n\n![](https://hellomd-production.s3.amazonaws.com/articles/5887f2c9d88c9d000847c1d0/embedded_images/5892302b81d687000c7d62a3/Screen_Shot_2017-02-01_at_10.52.57_AM.png)\n[Dee Dusault](https://www.deedussault.com/) is well known for her sexuality teaching which includes the use of cannabis.\n \nMindfulness is a spiritual practice with pragmatic applications. It reduces stress and brings more appreciation, but it also can make time feel slower. When you're right here, right now, with the universe of sensation and emotion (and even noticing thoughts without getting lost in them), you get to savor the passing of time instead of feeling like you're racing against it or a slave to it. \n\nBeing mindful as you nibble that delicious artisanal chocolate edible not only makes you more grateful for the moment, it also makes the moment feel more divine. \n\nCombining mindfulness, cannabis, and sexual intimacy creates a sort of \"entourage effect\" where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Adding other forms of conscious relaxation before getting busy, like taking a hot bath, busting out some yoga, or lighting candles, will make both the high and the loving even more meaningful, sweet, and yummy! \n\nTip: What can you be mindful of, right now as you read? Lift your head for a moment and notice color, shape, sound. Notice your mood, thoughts, feelings. Notice your body, heartbeat, breath. When you're preparing to meet with your lover, take time to relax with a few minutes of mindfulness practice, or other activities that relax you physically and emotionally. The more relaxed you are, the more you'll feel and enjoy the timeless eternity of each passionate moment!\n\n[READ PART 2 OF CANNABIS FOR PASSION & PLAY!](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/58922f0b189869000c9af616/cannabis-for-increased-passion-and-play-part-2)\n\nIf you would like more inspiration, check out my Bay Area Valentines Tantra classes, sponsored by Alchemy Vape Pens by Dark Heart, Kiva Chocolates and [Arnicann topicals!](http://www.goarnicann.com/ ) \n\nFriday night: [“Sexual Awakening Yoga”](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sexy-flex-for-women-tickets-31203488474?utm_source=eb_email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=new_event_email&utm_term=viewmyevent_button) class for women, Saturday afternoon: [“Partner Yoga for Love”](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/partner-yoga-for-love-tickets-31489708566) and [“Partner Tantra Yoga and Massage.”](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/tantra-yoga-and-massage-tickets-31489747683) \n____________________________________________________________________\n\nDee Dussault helps people find their bliss through relaxation, mindfulness, and sensuality. She wanted to buy one right away and take it home to try. “Whoa, Mary” we said. “Let’s talk about how this might work for you.”\n\nWe spent about twenty minutes counseling Mary. We learned about her history of THC use (none). We talked about the value of trying different ratios of the two most prominent cannabinoids, CBD and THC. We discussed how dosing is different for everyone and that the patient has to find the right dose.\n\nMary was very happy to have the information. She thanked us and walked out with a 60 mg (thc) strawberry- banana sucker, in a zip-lock bag for storage between uses. “Mary! Keep in touch and let us know how it worked for you!” We called out as she practically sprinted out the door. Two days later, Mary comes back to report the bad and the good news. \n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\n\nThe first night she did exactly what Grace did: She sucked on the sucker for 30 seconds, putting it back in the zip-lock bag on her night stand. She slept like a baby until about 3 am and then woke up “higher than a kite” as she put it. Gulp. Not the result she wanted.\n\nBut Mary, being a scientifically-minded woman, tried sucking on the candy the following night for only 10 seconds. Bingo! She slept like a baby till morning, with no fog-brain or “dopey” feeling. Mary had found her dose!\n\n### One Third of US Adults Experience Insomnia\n\nOf the many negative health effects of living in a stress-drenched culture, the most common has got to be insomnia. One-third of all adults in the U.S. report that they experience insomnia at one time or another with an estimated one billion sufferers worldwide. Two times as many women as men are affected and over half the people with insomnia are over 65 years old.\n\nPeople seeking insomnia remedies will spend $32 billion annually on products or techniques to help them get to sleep and stay asleep. They are desperate and for good reason. Lack of sleep impacts quality of life in many ways. It increases irritability, lack of concentration, depression, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, among other things.\n\nRELATED: [MEDICAL MARIJUANA EASES INSOMNIA](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/55959b7130633100060c0000/no-longer-sleepless-in-seattle-medical-marijuana-eases-insomnia)\n\n### The Cannabis Cure?\n\nAfter years of working with patients suffering from insomnia, we advocate using traditional herbs such as cannabis that have been used for many centuries to help people relax, get to sleep and stay asleep. We now know that the hundred known cannabinoids (chemical compounds) in the plant are most effective when they work together, and in combination with the terpenes and flavonoids also present in the plant. Finding the right combination, and the right dosage, is the goal of every patient, when possible with the help of an experienced cannabis patient counselor.\n\nRELATED DEAL: [25% OFF FIRST PURCHASE WITH TRUE FARMA](http://truefarma.com/hello-md/)\n\n### Dosing & Delivery\n\nWe recommend micro-dosing THC through the membrane of the mouth. Try using suckers, candies, oil and tinctures – any delivery system that enters the blood stream through the oral mucosa -- in order to transport those healing cannabinoids to our body’s endocannabinoid receptors.\n\nMicro-dosing is critical. Most patients do not want to experience psychoactivity. That “high” feeling usually keeps people awake. THC is a great relaxation herb in low doses. But the rule should be “go low, go slow” with all THC-dominant medicines. THC is even more effective when combined with CBD, cannabidiol. In combination with THC, CBD can mitigate against some of the possible psychoactive effects of THC, and bring calm and clarity to the mind.\n\n### Simple Rules to Follow...\n\nHerbal medicine is different for everyone. EVERY INDIVIDUAL is a unique organism, requiring different ratios of chemical compounds in their cannabis medicine, different doses, different delivery systems. Figure out what works best for you.\n\nTake the holistic approach. Look at every aspect of your life to identify the root causes of your sleeplessness such as stress, worry, and anxiety. Start to imaginatively address the root causes while you are treating your daily symptoms sensibly.\n\nMany natural responses to sleep issues are effective: These include the full spectrum from acupuncture to yoga, herbs like Ashwaganda and chamomile tea, massage, mindfulness-based therapies including meditation, Tai Chi and Qi Gong, exercise and healthy eating habits. Sometimes a simple thing like not drinking caffeine after 2 pm can make all the difference (or quitting caffeine and sugar entirely).\n\nAvoid those treatments that cause harm. Most pharmaceuticals come with side effects. Is it worth compromising your liver or kidney function by becoming dependent on chemicals that also leave you with fog- brain, constipation, depression, and worse?\n\nTake charge of your health. Consider placing traditional medicines such as cannabis herbs at the center of your treatment. You will be glad you did.\n\n_____________________________________________________________________\n\nIf you are new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our [Cannabis 101](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/56201c206430320006bb0000/cannabis-101-your-quick-guide-to-medical-marijuana) post.
